And so are Level Plane bands.
:)
True.

Can't deny the power of LickGoldenSky, though.
I like the bad metalcore too, just real metalcore is alot better.

Love is Red is horrible on CD, but good live. I've seen them twice.
I think they are touring with Strung Out and Saosin in November. I don't think I'll be able to go though.

shane italian 10-09-2004 01:39 PM
There are a couple of different 'hardcore' scenes.
One sprang from the DC hardcore/emo/'screamo' scene and now features stuff like Yaphet Kotto, etc.. more screamo-ish bands.. Based on DIY ethics, labels: Ebullition, Level Plane, Mountain, Hand.Held.Heart, Witching Hour.
Lyrics about politics/ personal issues.
All I have to say is...NO!
The other one is more CHUGGA CHUGGA CHUGGA, with barrels, sing-alongs, mosh pits. Bands include The Dead Scenestars, maybe Blood for Blood etc.
Kind of straight-edge-ish stuff. Lyrics are about being stabbed in the back by friends, mostly.
Blood for Blood aren't Chugga band, I don't know how you got the idea.
There's also the 'commercial' hardcore on Victory and Revelation records, but I'm not going to go into that too much.. they act like major lables, but try to keep their image 'true' and 'hardcore.' As if we're falling for that, hah!
And this is the biggie. You, my friend, must be an idiot.

Revelation contributed and still contributes to the hardcore scene. Ever heard of Judge, Bold, Fastbreak, or Gorilla Biscuits?

Victory Records may have Taking Back Sunday and Darkest Hour, but they helped keep hardcore alive. Reach The Sky, Bad Brains, Blood For Blood, A:18, NIV, Buried Alive...etc.

You didn't clear s'hit up.

tornpictures 10-09-2004 01:42 PM

They used to be big in the hardcore scene, putting out good stuff, etc.

Nowadays, they ain't ****. Totally played out.

I never said Blood for Blood were a 'chugga band,' I said maybe, and MORE chugga.

And what's the 'NO!' about in the top?

shane italian 10-09-2004 01:46 PM

Hahaha!

Go give yourself a big high five, because you just made yourself look like a complete idiot!

Please go on, and listen to your pretentions Level Plane bands.

Call me a gay, but I'm debating skipping on the Terror Halloween show for the Poison the Well Halloween show... and skipping 100 Demons for Neurosis.

BuddyBigsby 10-10-2004 02:52 AM

Everyone likes Victory and Revelation here?

****.

Their ethics just plain suck.. remember what Victory did to Thursday a while ago??

To all you fashionxcore kids (you know who you are.).. I reckon I've been in the scene 5+ years longer than you have, so shut the **** up, I've dealt with your type before.
'Oh yeah totally, I know what screamo is, you don't.' **** you.

Next month you'll be wearing scarves and listening to shoegaze or some ****.

cbmartinez 10-10-2004 10:48 AM

Victory didn't ruin Thursday. Island did.

and ALL OUT WAR.
Victory didn't ruin Thursday. Island did.
That's not what I'm talking about.

Victory put some 'fine text' in the contract (I think 'signing' bands in hardcore is ****ing stupid, but that's beside the point) that if they left Victory, they'd have to leave for a bigger label. THat's ****ed up.

And Earth Crisis ****ing SUCK.
"How much more hardcore can you get" what the **** man, you don't know ****.

RevengeOfTheVillageIdiot 10-10-2004 01:21 PM

thursday signed it, their fault

tornpictures 10-10-2004 01:26 PM

It's just one of those stupid "No, we don't want you to go" things.

Anyway, to change the discussion: What do you think of 'signing' bands to a label in punk rock / hardcore?

shane italian 10-10-2004 01:26 PM

And "signing" bands in hardcore is not stupid. Look at Revelation, Indecision, Bridge Nine, Deathwish, Facedown, Thorp, etc.

CommieCanada 10-10-2004 01:27 PM

all that matters is that Thursday didnt break up

tornpictures 10-10-2004 01:28 PM

Signing bands with contracts has no place in hardcore. Hardcore is a counter-culture, and what's the point of a counter-culture if it's just a mirror of the culture it's resisting?

Hardcore is against capitalism etc, well signing contracts is to keep a band on your label TO MAKE MORE MONEY, obviously.
