Someone tell me something about Louis Logic? I keep reading about him. Good? What's he like?

Pluperfect_Arson 12-10-2006 03:35 AM
Na, just pick up Reasonable Doubt or The Blueprint instead.
Alright, sweet.

Thanks.

It's typical underground indie hiphop. Not much special really. His music is enjoyable from time to time.

ATM 12-10-2006 03:43 PM

Louis Logic used to rap with the Demigodz but branched off to do his own ****. Personally I think hes great.

Rams 12-10-2006 06:42 PM

Demigodz blow. Celph Titled put out a 4-disc album this year and is the most self-indulgent pile I have heard.

ATM 12-11-2006 09:44 AM

Haha yea at first I really liked it, but I am a bit tired of all the "battle rapping at nobody in particular" thing.

hey, you're not cory! 12-11-2006 12:34 PM

Does anyone hear listen to David Costa?

And what are recomendations for me as I'm trying to get into more rap and hip-hop. I've found a lot of solace in Jurassic 5 and Jay-Z so far.

sgrevs 12-11-2006 11:10 PM

So in the last few days I got hold of Zion I and the Grouch's Heroes in the City of Dope, bloody brilliant stuff, and I picked it up without any previous knowledge of them, so it was quite a risk. Very happy I did though.

I also downloaded Sin-A-Matic by Louis Logic, and I dunno, I don't seem to understand him...is he really the fucking racist sexist cockface that he comes across as through his lyrics? Especially in The Ugly Truth. Clarification appreciated.

AND I got Count Bass D's Act Your Waist Size, which isn't bad, but I was hoping for more rapping, and there really wasn't much of it, more just beats and samples.

So yeah, productive few days for hip-hop in my ears.

Another request for you people: Could you recommend rappers/hiphoppers that sing over a metallish/rock sound?

I'm only aware of Ice-T and his Body Count crew right now. I'm not sure, but I believe Jay-Z has, RUN-DMC might have and that's all I can think of. Basically, I'm looking for guitars, rather than beats. Oh, and the Roots are slightly rocky.

^ I likes the sound of that. Is it actual collaborations or has just been produced that way ?? I like De La Soul when hes not doing his own music as it were :p

Can anyone recommend some UK Grime/Rap/Hip-Hop to me. I'm in need of some new artists.

tappenzee 12-12-2006 06:59 PM

Nas and Ghostface both came with it on their latest...

Um, Beastie Boys. But you've obviously heard them and just forgot to put them on that list.

2muchket! 12-13-2006 02:18 PM

I've heard good stuff about Nas and Ghostface. Constantly listening to Sway's This Is My Demo. Deserved it's Mercury nomination.

Africa 12-13-2006 03:32 PM

I wish there was a mailing list in this forum for just all 'other' music... ambience, folk, rap, hip-hop, classical, techno, electronic, fusion, soundtracks, culture-specific musiks etc etc.

Just kind of throwin' that out there.

Kano - Beats & Bars mixtape
The Mitchell Brothers - A Breath Of Fresh Attire
Wiley - Treddin' On Thin Ice

sgrevs 12-13-2006 10:50 PM

Wiley is sick.

Can someone please comment on the albums I listed earlier on the page, I'm interested in what other people think of them.

ATM 12-13-2006 10:55 PM

Well, I quite like Sin-A-Matic (obviously, I suggested it). I'll have to relisten to the song you mentioned about him being racist and sexist.

Heros In the City of Dope is go damn good. I love the song with Charli 2na.

And Act Your Waist Size never really grabbed me, I think I need a different Count Bass D album.

sgrevs 12-13-2006 11:53 PM

Hooray a response. Totally agreed with Count Bass D, I really love all his collab stuff that I've heard, but his solo stuff just don't grab me.

I've hardly stopped listening to Heroes in the City of Dope since I got it on Monday. Train and Planes absolutely pwns.

Yes, please relisten to The Ugly Truth. I can't actually work out if he's rapping his own thoughts, or trying to put them in George Bush's mouth, if you know what I mean. Either way, it's very very hate filled.

I've only heard the Zion I/Grouch record, but it's pretty good. I recommend it to people who don't believe old school sentiments still exist.

Kyle 12-14-2006 09:11 AM

I'm gonna download that now.....it sounds cool.

Zmev 12-14-2006 10:52 AM

Mistah FAB is on it, this could be good.

Anyone else like Aceyalone?

pixiesfanyo 12-14-2006 11:21 AM

Yeah, Haiku D'etat is sweet.

Zmev 12-14-2006 01:45 PM

In the video for "You Don't Know" they censor the word "chamber".
