Yeah I guess, a band isn't exactly going to bash their new album lol

I think it's pretty cool that normal people on a forum like this can talk to a normal guy that plays bass (over AIM) and is in a band called Trivium and then after a few years on the main stage of Download Festival standing next to Metallica. They must be fucking loving how far they've came. I know I would.

Drunken Viking 08-04-2006 04:19 PM

Yeah, just don't ever EVER call him or Matt sloppy, he starts to get really defensive really quickly.

MRDuCran 08-04-2006 05:02 PM

I can imagine, so would I if I put all my time and effort into practising and then get told it's rubbish.

Matt and Corey are sloppy at times, can't really hear the bass too well and Travis always seems to be on top form. Plus, I don't have AIM.

Drunken Viking 08-04-2006 05:06 PM

Yeah, but he can't tell when your just pulling his leg though. I was like when I saw you guys live Matt missed the G# note when he was playing augmented 3rd triad (which makes no sense) and he was just getting all defensive live yeah, well I bet you suck live you idiot. After that I figured he wouldn't get any jokes so I just started with Matt and Corey are some of the sloppiest guitar players on the face of the planet live, and you sound like a 12 year old bitch. And not soon after he blocked me.

lol I can see why. I'm sure he gets so defensive because there are probably 71326498172346 Trivium haters that add him just to trouble him. And probably 456234563 people that just tell him how they are Trivium's biggest fan etc. That sort of thing can probably get old pretty fast for them. Which is probably why people seem to think hes a complete douche, even though in reality he could be a really nice person.

Drunken Viking 08-04-2006 05:18 PM

I still say he sounds like a 12 year old bitch live :p How did people find his SN in the first place, I doubt he just said my AIM name is this message me!

Huber 08-04-2006 05:32 PM

Paulo a douche? Not even guys. When I met Trivium to have them sign stuff at SOTU Travis and Matt seemed kinda smug which bothered me, but Corey and Paulo were super cool and actually talked to you. Especially Paulo.

Britton 08-04-2006 05:44 PM

When i met them they were great! yes they are a little sloppy live but that's expected. Look at Slayer when they were that age...they were just as sloppy. Metallica sucked at that age. and Dave mustaine...well he pretty much sucked too.

This is a great band. the new album is gonna sound a lot like Metallica...but there really isn't anything wrong with that (in my opinion)

/spawns a page of lame internet arguement...

that or gets ignored

Drunken Viking 08-04-2006 06:23 PM

Look at Iron Maiden, at that age they were spactacular live. Look at Black Sabbath they were great to. Their age shouldn't matter, if they can play the parts on the album fine they should be able to transfer that over to live.

I hope that Detonation isn't like the new record, that that song was not a good indication of them. I'd rather listen to a new and unique band, not a crappy Metallica rip-off.

Prince Charming 08-04-2006 06:44 PM
Probably something about how awesomely awesome the album will be.
Yeah. Pretty much.

It was on his myspace.

Well...I see what you are saying...which unfortunatly prolly means you won't listen to them anymore. I do think this new album will sound a lot like Tallica's MOP album.

But oh well

Arucard 08-04-2006 08:12 PM

Trivium need to get over Metallica and start listening to some real metal :\

And oh my just heard the new track. Terrible. Could they try to sound more like Metallica if they tried? I don't think so.

Deadsy 08-06-2006 11:29 PM

I can't stand Paulo, he has no clue about anything. He just tries to act all sweet and metal to fit in. He can barely hold his bass because he's such a short little muff. I liked their old bass player much more. It looks like Trivium are getting all caught up into the "be as metal as you can" thing and I'm not digging it one bit.

Leper Messiah 08-13-2006 02:33 AM
I think that's the lead guitarist you're talkin' about, dude  he's the only one with long hair in the band. Ascendancy, to me, was Trivium's equivalent to "Ride The Lightning". You know, letting everyone in the music industry know "this is who we are, this is what we do and we do it damn good".
are you trying to say the album Ascendancy is just as good as Ride The Lightning ? :amaze:

Huber 08-13-2006 03:34 AM
are you trying to say the album Ascendancy is just as good as Ride The Lightning ? :amaze:
I think he meant it did the same thing for Trivium as it did for Metallica.

MRDuCran 08-13-2006 09:06 AM

Regardless of how good people think Trivium are, there's no denying that they've got pretty huge over the last year, pretty much everyone knows about them or has heard of them one way or another.

I cant stand him either...

lamb_of_goddrummer 08-13-2006 01:04 PM

Yeah, Trivium thinks they are so badass and that theyre the best band in the world. I cant stand that bullsh1t.

oh okay thank you

loathed 08-13-2006 09:13 PM

After hearing the new song, I have a feeling their new album is going to **** *** balls...sorry

Surtr 08-13-2006 09:16 PM

Just finished downloading the Ascendancy album, and in a few I'll give it a check. :thumb:

KillemAllforOne83 08-17-2006 12:07 AM

I don;'t know if this is has been posted but here's another song of the crusade and man, does it ever kick ***. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULAP53XY2lk

Drunken Viking 08-17-2006 12:24 AM

Man I do not envy whoever was at that concert. Haha but seriously, I prefer the majority of Ascendancy over that (and by that I mean one song, since it's all samey).

Blackest_Eyes 08-17-2006 10:09 AM

I liked Trivium's first two albums. But after hearing Detonation, I really don't think I will be picking up "The Crusade". The music is okay, I guess....but it sounds like Matt is trying way to hard to be James Hetfield.

KillemAllforOne83 08-21-2006 01:37 PM

New song, Anthem, sounds pretty cool.

Agreed. I didn't like them before, and now it just sounds like they are trying to hard to be something else.

Spoonful of Shame 08-21-2006 02:12 PM

What ever little respect I had for Trivium is gone after listening to those two new songs.

Full Metal Racket 08-21-2006 06:31 PM

I really like Detonation, andEntrance...., but Anthem, hhm.... I don't
dislike it, but I think it's mediocre compared to what they have produced previously and what i'm sure they are capable of. Also i brought Ember to Inferno the other day and am really loving, I think it's a really strong album.

Nepenthe 08-21-2006 06:36 PM

Oh you guys are all just jumpers on the 'Hate Trivium' bandwagon. I think their new songs are the best music they've put out.

Two questions for the above posters: 1. Have you ever heard the word change? Seriously, you guys are just looking for a reason to bash them, whether it's the their old sound, or how gay they are for changing to a different one. 2. Please tell me what it is they are trying to sound like? I will personally assassinate anyone who says Anthem bears a resemblance to Metallica.

All in all, you guys are just retards looking for a reason to hate on them. They used to be a decent band, and everyone hated on them, now they are a pretty good band, and everyone hates on them for changing their sound, yet the same people still continue to hate on their old sound. Here's a thought, think for yourself and stop posting ridiculous crap because that's what everyone else is doing.

I'm sorry, but if I am included as one of those above posters, did you read what I posted properly? Concerning their change of sound, I said that I really like Detonation, and Entrance of the Conflagration. Also, I did not say that Anthem was a bad song, just mediocre by Trivium's standards (and it doesn't remind me of Metallica, it sounds like big 80's stadium rock/metal to me).
And i'm not on the "hate Trivium" bandwagon at all, they are my favourite new band (as in, new generation of bands).
Personally, I think their new sound is great, and I will be buying The crusade when released.
