My name is Jeff , I play guitar and like to record songs with my friends. I have a few guitars, but I like my Charvels the best. I use a POD XT when recording, and a Marshall Mode 4 to play otherwise. I record using either pro tools or a Korg D-1600 (1600 is easier to use for a quick session). I learned to play when the 'Big Hair' bands of the 80s were popular. The last thing I wrote was a Steelers victory song http://mysite.verizon.net/vzes3hyl/ that shows some of my 80s blood. Sort of like Alice Cooper Meets AC/DC and ZZ Top. I no longer aspire to be a professional musician, but I sure do enjoy playing for fun.

having seen a thread koke showed me at recording.org, i have to say that we're very lucky here.
They have a user who's basically Ned (lmost people should remember Ned) to the power a hundred and twenty five- who gave the classic quote "No mixer under $5000 is worth putting a signal through" Instead of telling him where to stick it, people were agreeing with him! It was extremely distressing for me to see the voice of reason flamed unneccessarily by many people in a "jump on Zakath's back" fashion and i even registered to send him a PM of support, only to find PMs were mebers only. Reast assured i've no intention of going back. Such ignorance of what it's like not to have thousands of pounds to spend on gear is sickening. |

I've been running a pro studio since before you were born. The exact quote was $20,000. Don't insult my experience by suggesting I'd use any $5,000 POS for anything more than running cans through. You're just another schill for behringer. Coyotetrax repeatedly attacked my opinion and responded with sarcasm. Budget gear doesn't mean crap gear. What do you run your set-up on? Probably some cheap POS with a few POS micpres. If all you know is soda pop then cheap wine will taste great. When you buy a brick you'll realise where the extra money goes. Micpre's make or break a recording. I'd rather record drums with 1 mic and a great preamp than 7 on a POS behringer. I've looked at this 'board' and half of you are just reps for POS companies that steal designs. Especially Kocaine, do you really trust someone who would buy a phonic mixer? Hah, if he was worth his salt he'd be using 16 bricks instead. When guys can appriciate quality then feel free to come to RO and swallow your pride. |
...
The best bit is when he responds to a post regarding a $150 microphone by suggesting seventeen $400 preamps. Good one. |
Dear "Kurt".
I have a little test for you. If you have allready seen this, then well the test is void, but here's hoping you havn't done this. I would like you to tell me: Which is the more expensive microphone? A or B? Which is the most expensive preamplifier? 1, 2 or 3? Which is the least expensive preamplifier? 1, 2 or 3? Here's the soundclips. A1 A2 A3 B1 B2 B3 (by the way, any one else is welcome to try their luck, but it would be interesting to see the view of a hardened pro first ehy:naughty: ) Gareth |

When guys can appriciate quality then feel free to come to RO and swallow your pride.
That was beautiful. If you are such a great forum lurker you would have figured out by now that 50% to 75% of the people here are ages 12-20 and only about 5% of the total posters on here are serious about recording techniques at all. Therefor, he does recommend a phonic mixing console solely because of the fact that these people are a) low budget b) don't give a flying fuck or c) cannot tell the difference between sound qualities. Is he saying that he would recommend a phonic over an entire professional quality setup. No. He is merely suggesting that phonic mixers aren't to bad for he money they have at there fingertips. I'll give you that yes, a brick is a fine piece of recording equipment, but suggesting 16 of them on a DIY site over 1 piece of "shit" is uninformed, excessive and frankly the stupidest n00b post I have seen in a long while. And I post in the Bass Forum's Beginer Questions. On the fact that you fart dust and therefor know more than all of us combined to thirteenth power, fuck you. Just because you learned these techniques as the wheel was being invented doesn't mean that they have changed at all or we've missed something. If anything a professionally trained and qualified audio engineer would blow you away with his knowledge and you might be put into your place. When you learn how to not be an asshole and suggest apporiate equipment on budgets that usually range form $0 to $300 come on over to mx. We are a family friendly and welcoming forums to n00bish fucktards such as your self. Consider yourself throughly pwned. Fuck off and die. \my venting post |
