ho gives a **** its music and its not rap...thats what it is

theres two types of music...amazing and ****...why does everyone wanna argue about core being in front of something behind something being the root of this word or the root of that word...wtf...bull****
no matter how much you bitch about people trying to fit genres and categorise music it will still happen, get over it. plus it is interesting topic and it helps people like me find out what bands fit where and to learn what bands they wish to listen to and go see etc.

the end

Atreyu346 09-17-2004 12:36 PM

Yea putting music into genres is annoying but it still happens so we have to accept it.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 09-17-2004 01:14 PM

Putting music into genres doesn't annoy me in the least.

BuddyBigsby 09-17-2004 01:33 PM

95% of the people who whine about genres:

1. Newjacks / Just got into "screamo"
2. Listen to a handful of bands
or both.

NewKindofArmy03 09-17-2004 01:40 PM

genres aren't hard to learn at all though. i don't listen to much metal at all, and i can even tell what genre most metal bands are.

cbmartinez 09-17-2004 01:49 PM

I agree with the metalcore thing. I think the two groups are located on either side of the metalcore scale. Group A (100 Demons, Walls Of Jericho) are on the side with more of a hardcore influence. Group B (Atreyu, Bleeding Through) is leaning towards metal.

cbmartinez 09-17-2004 03:03 PM

I wanna' settle something.

Death By Stereo, hardcore or metalcore?

BuddyBigsby 09-17-2004 03:05 PM

Man, they're too all over the place. Like they have punk/hardcore one minute, and then metalcore the next. It's not really mixed, it's just like a sudden change in the music. Old stuff was more metalcore though, I guess.

NewKindofArmy03 09-17-2004 03:06 PM

hardcore and metalcore. one minute they're just straight-up hardcore and then the next they're leaning more towards metal. they're a band that's hard to classify, and so you can't really call them one or the other.

cbmartinez 09-17-2004 03:07 PM

Yeah, it is a tough one. But Throwdown is heavier than DBS and they get called hardcore, so I guess I'll go with hardcore.

NewKindofArmy03 09-17-2004 03:07 PM
Old stuff was more metalcore though, I guess.
no, i'd say as they evolve they get more metal influences in them.

PlasticGangster 09-17-2004 03:07 PM

the blood brothers and fear before the march of flames confuse me....

BuddyBigsby 09-17-2004 03:08 PM

Oh, and last night was good times. Haste the Day were awesome, though I felt a wee bit homoerotic singing along to the pretty parts. I can safely say Dead to Fall's new album sucks and that their singer is the ugliest man ever. Martyr AD destroyed.

cbmartinez 09-17-2004 03:09 PM

Both bands are extremely hard to classify. Both blend a lot of styles including screamo, pop-punk, metal, etc.

cbmartinez 09-17-2004 03:10 PM

Sounds awesome. I get chills just thinking about what a Martyr AD show would be like.

PlasticGangster 09-17-2004 03:10 PM

NewKindofArmy03 09-17-2004 03:12 PM

Haha, I try not to say it too often. I usually just say newbie but then if I say it on here people think I'm talking about forum newbies.

i think that band is horrible, old stuff and new stuff. at least the old stuff was respectable though.

AndHagan3 09-17-2004 05:14 PM

There old stuff was ok. I hate their new sound though.

NewKindofArmy03 09-17-2004 05:21 PM

yet another good show in the fall: paint it black, from ashes rise, breather resist and some other bands.

young, loud and andrew 09-17-2004 06:04 PM

I haven't been to a hardcore show since the end of July, and I don't know of any in the near future I can go to. I'm going crazy!

I do have these soon though:
alexisonfire/moments in grace
coheed and cambria
and a few more i can't remember right now.

shane italian 09-17-2004 07:26 PM

A-Life-Less-Plagued 09-17-2004 07:26 PM
