Josh 07-10-2005 03:47 PM

how many albums do Trivium have, just the one? and does he use the screaming-type vocals in all songs? i'm thinking of getting an album.

FlyingPaul_83 07-10-2005 03:50 PM

2 albums. He pretty much uses harsh vocals in all their songs.

ember to inferno
Ascendancy

Josh 07-10-2005 03:54 PM

i might get Ascendancy, i think the 3 songs i have already are off that album - Pull Harder...., Rain, Like Light to the Flies.

Please tell me you are female! :p

He is an incredible guitarist especially at such a young age.

FlyingPaul_83 07-13-2005 10:19 AM

Rain is my new favorite song.

deathscreamingsheep 07-13-2005 12:43 PM

Hmmm... to me Trivium's "Ascension" is fairly samey... all the songs seem to follow a similar theme. Plus, I don't really like the screaming on the album.

However, I saw them live at Download and they kicked arse. Seriously. The scream was vastly better, in fact every element of their songs was pulled off with a great degree of showmanship and skill.

I hope that Triviums next and third album will include a more evolved and varied sound... if so then I will consider myself a fan. Until then they are a band with a lot of potential and some talent that need not go to waste.

Endless Obsession 07-13-2005 01:06 PM

Jeez, i didnt realize how young this band was. That makes them so much better, they already were one of my favorite bands.

KittensInMicrowaves 07-13-2005 01:08 PM
Rain is my new favorite song.
The opening of Rain reminds me of Slayer "Silent Scream" so much. CLASSIC
The opening of Rain reminds me of Slayer "Silent Scream" so much. CLASSIC
Yeah I just listened to both of them, haha, its so true. A lot of my favorite bands seem to be highly influenced by Slayer. Lamb of God especially.

Lamb of God definitely has those dark, evil sounding riffs that give off the Slayer vibe. If you want to be reminded of Slayer, get Darkest Hour's new CD Undoing Ruin, and check out tracks 3 and 8. They could've been off Reign in bLood!

FlyingPaul_83 07-13-2005 10:25 PM

Hold on, I'll upload the videos now, it might take some tme though.

hethamulburton 07-13-2005 10:32 PM

Does Trivium do screaming for vocals? I'm looking for bands that are new that don't scream A LOT, some is ok but not like Hate Eternal and stuff like that.

FlyingPaul_83 07-13-2005 10:35 PM

They use harsh vocals quite a lot. They don't have crazy metalcore screams though. Their clean singing is very good. If you can get past thge screaming, they are a very good band. They have awesome guitar melodies and such. If you wait a little while you can download a video from them, hold on.

hethamulburton 07-13-2005 10:37 PM

They do leads and solos and stuff too, that's a big thing for me.

FlyingPaul_83 07-13-2005 10:40 PM

oh yeah they do some awesome lead work, although some of their the solos seem lifeless.

Thrashmother 07-14-2005 02:32 AM

They have 2 albums to my knowledge but may have more that i dont know about. he does use screaming in nearly all his songs

flam_flam 07-15-2005 03:54 PM

i love trivium i think they're great, and was shocked to find out today that the singer, matt heafy is only 19.

MC5 07-15-2005 06:37 PM

for being so young they are alot better than most of the other bands out there i mean they blow away jet and blink 182. theyre just insanly good for being so young. i'm trying to figure out a shot to the head of trepeadation but after the first couple of riffs i'm blown away by it.

hethamulburton 07-15-2005 06:39 PM

Blink guys are old dude. plus metal usually blows away punk or copied stuff easy.

chops 07-15-2005 07:26 PM

i'm seeing them this coming wednesday with shadows fall, in flames and mudvayne. i can't wait

FlyingPaul_83 07-18-2005 11:38 PM

I orgasm everytime I hear that song. My god its so good. Best album of 2005 IMO

punchenello 07-18-2005 11:54 PM

it said on their site forums that they were shooting a video for a gunshot to the head of trepidation. im pretty excited for it.

punchenello 07-18-2005 11:58 PM
i might get Ascendancy, i think the 3 songs i have already are off that album - Pull Harder...., Rain, Like Light to the Flies.
deffinatly get it all the other songs rawk too.

FlyingPaul_83 07-19-2005 01:40 AM

I really wanna see the gunshot to the head of trepidation video.

KittensInMicrowaves 07-19-2005 07:40 AM

Yeah it says on their site it will be up soon, but unfortunately they had to use an abbreviated version of the song for the video. Its supposed to kick *** though

NPYYZ 07-20-2005 06:54 AM

I just checked out a couple tracks from Ascendancy, The music is fantastic, the clean vocals are excellent, but the screaming ruins it for me. I wish these newer bands would stop that screaming crap and just sing. They reminded me of Killswitch Engage, another band that can rock hard but ruin it all with the screaming yelling type vocals.

KittensInMicrowaves 07-20-2005 09:58 AM

I love the screamed vocals, they make the music more intense. KsE and Trivium have some of the best screamed vocals around

FlyingPaul_83 07-20-2005 10:45 AM

At first I waas not a fan of screaming vocals, but I gave it a try, and I like the vocals now, like kittensinmicrowaves said, it makes the music more intense. Drowned and torn asunder is just incredible, i can't stop listening to it.

Shattered_Future 07-20-2005 10:45 AM

I wouldn't say Trivium has the BEST...they're pretty generic screams.

What band do you think has the best screamed vocals (i.e. any harsh vox outside of death vox)?

FlyingPaul_83 07-20-2005 12:21 PM
What band do you think has the best screamed vocals (i.e. any harsh vox outside of death vox)?
I 2nd that question. I think that both KsE and Trivium have awesome harsh vocals. I can't think of anyone with better screams and growls.

Mr Benners 07-20-2005 12:24 PM

After being deterred by the HIDEOUS advert I saw on TV for them, I checked them out and HOLY SHIT are they good. The riffs, the vocals, THE SOLOS, everything. Fantastic modern band, and proof that metal is just as good as it has ever been.

deathscreamingsheep 07-20-2005 01:42 PM

IMO the Trivium scream isn't all that great. But their live version is much better. Less generic, more anguished and just generally far more powerful.
