What other bands has John 5 played in? Never heard of him before =/
Ah scrap that - google is my best friend. DVG.
He was with Marilyn Manson up auntil recently. He put out a solo record pretty recently as well. He's also played with Dave Lee Roth. |
I'm a major fan of old GNR, and listening to Slash solo was the reason I first started playing guitar, but new Guns N' Roses sickens me. I've never heard any their songs, and I never intend to. Serously, Axl Rose calling his band Guns N' Roses is ****ing heresy. Velvet Revolver is pretty good, but not as good as old Guns. Haven't had the chance to listen to any Snakepit. This may have been mentioned before, but did anyone else hear abotu Slash touring in a band called "Slash's Blues Ball" or something like that? I like blues too.
Edit: And to the person who said Rocket Queen was good live, I have the UYI Tour DVD's and I was very unimpressed when Axl started rappigng halfway through the song. |

Snakepit is awesome, I love them. It's some of Slash's best work imo, Guns N' Roses are one of my favourite bands too but it's pretty ignorant to say that new Gn'R suck when you have not heard anything from them. Slash's Bluesball was basically formed to keep him occupied during the 'downfall' of Gn'R. There was no original material it was all covers of blues songs. I saw Slash say in an interview that they were originally called "Slash's Blue Balls" but decided that was too stupid and not an appropriate name for touring. |
Yeah, Slash's Snakepit is awesome. I really like 'It's Five O'Clock Somewhere'. To Lupus - You should listen to Beggars & Hangers-On or Dime Store Rock..
|
Thats a long FA, But a good one
Imaginary Rep for you +++ |
Axl's voice is annoying! Is Axl his real name?
|

It'd have been a way to fight my demons, methinks? P.S. Nice postcount. LOL. |
Wow, Slash's Snakepit rocks. Maybe even moreso than old GN'R.
By the way, Axl was also the name of the band Axl and Izzy were in back in Indiana. And he also kept the William. His full name is W. Axl Rose. |
Did he intentionaly make it an anagram of Oral Sex or was that total coincidence? Or does anyone even know? =/
|
I doubt that he would purposely make it an anagram of oral sex.
|
I doubt that he would purposely make it an anagram of oral sex.
LOL Axl Rose is a dirty bastard. :p With dreadlocks. :p I should go sleep right now. |

I'm pretty sure it was a coincidence that his name was an anagram for oral sex.
|
I heard that Axl's version of Guns N Roses album willl come out early next year.. but it has been delayed countless times. Who is currently in the band? I know Buckethead left and heard that Traci Guns (sp) is in..

Is this the wierdest picture of Guns N' Roses ever or what? I think that this is the current line up: * W. Axl Rose - vocals (1985-present) * Dizzy Reed - keyboards (1990-present) * Robin Finck - guitars (1996-present) * Tommy Stinson - bass (1998-present) * Brian Mantia - drums (2000-present) * Richard Fortus - guitar (2002-present) And you know, i wouldn't put it past Axl, heh. But y'all are probably right, it's most likely coincidence. |
Why would you need 3 guitarists and a keyboardist? Seriously. I think 3 guitars is pushing it by itself.
Edit: Wait. That's 2 keyboards. Jesus |
Why would you need 3 guitarists and a keyboardist? Seriously. I think 3 guitars is pushing it by itself.
Edit: Wait. That's 2 keyboards. Jesus
Apparently the keyboard parts are 'so complex' that 2 keyboards are required, at least that's what what Axl said. Buckethead was just a live guitarist and pretty much all he does is solo's through the entire song. His departure was neither good or bad considering he was only used on the tour.. EDIT: I don't think the guy on the right is playing a keyboard, I think it's a midi controller for synths and stuff. |
I thoguht earlier i nthe thread someoen said that the guitar parts actually needed 3 guitars.
|
I thoguht earlier i nthe thread someoen said that the guitar parts actually needed 3 guitars.
I can't see why, I have some bootlegs of there most recent tour and Rock In Rio and they played all covers except for Madagascar, Chinese Democracy and The Blues.
Slash and Izzy managed to play Gn'R songs with 2 guitarists and the new songs aren't amazing in terms of the technical ability required to play them. |
Who's the 3rd guitarist now?
|
There is no third guitarist anymore.
EDIT: IMO they never needed a third guitarist all they needed / wanted was a new gimmick, Buckethead's bucket kinda replaced Slash's top hat. |
Good read, it would have been good if you had mentioned about Duff being in The Fartz before going to join Gunners but still great profile.

Nah, Hollywood Rose came about when they came to LA. (Izzy left first, then Axl came) Actually I'm not even sure if Izzy was in the band Axl but I am sure that Axl was in a band called Axl before he left Indiana and before he changed his name.
Wow, that's actually a little confusing. |
. Buckethead was just a live guitarist and pretty much all he does is solo's through the entire song. His departure was neither good or bad considering he was only used on the tour..
Nah he recorded stuff on Chinese Democracy... |
