I don't have Enjoy so I can't say. The one after calgone's pretty badass though.

Favorite bassline?

Janitor 03-17-2005 08:10 PM

during the solo in sslw
are you in

Sound Boy 03-17-2005 08:14 PM

"glass" and "magic medicine" are fun to play so i love them alot

"battlestar scrarlahtoaihtoihagoiasaca" haha has the best bassline IMO

Sleeper 03-17-2005 08:15 PM

Speak Free's Bass line is insane, Ive always like Stellars bass riff.

Deth 03-17-2005 08:17 PM

Speak Free for me. Hella fun to play as well.

Best lyrics?

I'm doing this to stay off Dirk and Ben by the way.

Sleeper 03-17-2005 08:19 PM

Im just sick of the pointless arguments, There is so much more to this band then the bassists. I like Echos lyrics and Stellar.

Deth 03-17-2005 08:25 PM

Under my Umbrella are mine.

sort this out yourself, I'm going for the night. See everyone tomorrow.

Sound Boy 03-17-2005 08:34 PM

i like "i miss you" lyrics cause it was just a letter to his girlfriend and they put awesome music to it...yey 3/4!!

and i forgot to say that "hilikus" has a bad @ss bass line to it as well

Sleeper 03-17-2005 09:47 PM

Was it really a letter?

Deth 03-18-2005 10:20 AM

Probably not. I don't really like that song. I'm not a fan of the sappier songs if you will, by them.

Sleeper 03-18-2005 03:12 PM

The vocals are really good on the song, The only reason i like it that much.

classicrockielzpfvh 03-18-2005 05:25 PM

every1 in my town loves rap ... but i was surprised when i saw these two teens riding down the street playing Incubus' Make Yourself album... i was so **** happy it was the first time i saw or met some in my town who actualy likes good music...

Sleeper 03-18-2005 05:59 PM

I dont find many people that listen to Incubus, Most just know there singles like Drive and Melegomaniac.

Sound Boy 03-18-2005 06:20 PM

it was a letter..thats why none of the lines rhyme and its off beat

anyway...what about encounters?

i've seen them live 6 times
talked with them twice
and chilled with them once

Sleeper 03-18-2005 07:33 PM

With Incubus?

Sound Boy 03-18-2005 08:33 PM

yeah...with incubus..haha

Sleeper 03-18-2005 09:21 PM

What are they like? And how did this happen?

Sound Boy 03-19-2005 04:48 PM

they were really cool...my friend and i snuck backstage at ozzfest once and we saw brandon, mike and Dimebag talkin...we went up and talked to them for a few minutes then security came and told us we had to leave and Mike was like "nah dude its cool they just wanted to say hello" and we chatted for like 5 more mins then we had to leave.

the second time i had backstage passes at a radio festival we have here and we got to chill with them and Jose is the funniest musician i've met and dirk was kind of reclusive and apparently he's straight edge. brandon was kinda shy but really nice. i didnt really get to talk with kilmore much but i got an autograph. all together they are awesome guys..i was glad they werent asses cause that woulda prolly ruined it for me since they're my favorite band but it was cool.

Sleeper 03-19-2005 04:55 PM

I didnt know Incubus was at one of the Ozzfests, And for those who dont know what "Straight Edges" are. They are people that do dont drugs, Kind of ironic he plays for Incubus.

Deth 03-19-2005 06:05 PM

Yeah, it was Ozzfest '98 or something. The lineups were really weird back then. Most of the bands could hardly be considered metal.

Sleeper 03-19-2005 10:10 PM

I still look back and laugh, At when Linkin Park played Ozzfest.

Sound Boy 03-19-2005 11:48 PM

Melvins_Army 03-20-2005 01:22 AM

They're good I don't really like that Ben Kenney or whatever his name is

Sound Boy 03-20-2005 04:03 PM

i have a live version of "here in my room" and the bassline keeps going and the songs bleeds into a cover of "my girl"...its soooooooooo good...try to find that

Sleeper 03-20-2005 08:38 PM

Yeh, Ill look into that

XyleM 03-20-2005 11:58 PM

1.Calgone
2.Under My Umbrella
3.Priceless
4.Vitamin
5.Speak Free

but it changes very frequently.

bungshal 03-21-2005 11:21 AM

I just think Incubus went slowly downhill from science. Compare for instance, the bass part from Speak free.. or the interlude on Redefine to any of their new stuff.. they just kind of went mainstream. their new album bores me so much, i really can't stand any of the songs on it.
If i were them, id:
fire ben, bring back dirk.. then start writing and album that could possibly top science, put some slap bass in there, more guitar solos, more funk and have brandon shout more.

So....You want another SCIENCE album?

That's the good thing about Incubus, they're constantly changing. Much better to keep 'redefining' (pun intended) yourself and explore new music than put out similar albums one after another.

CiminoUM5 03-21-2005 12:38 PM

 @ bunshal's post.

Interludes? How about the interlude/guitar solo in Sick, Sad Little World? Priceless? Pistola?

Not going to argue that SCIENCE is their best work, because it's still my favorite, but you clearly want them to just keep releasing one SCIENCE-like album after another....something I thank to god that they don't do. Dirk's slap bass was awesome in the early days, but what makes you think that if they brought him back he'd start doing that again? Aside from Are You In, his basslines on Morning View were pretty mediocre.

Brandon shouting? I wouldn't mind hearing some heavier stuff on the new album, but he's got too good a voice to waste on a CD full of mindless screaming.

Now you've done it.

All of their albums are great though Science is my favorite. The musicianship has not gotten worse, it's gotten better. Their songs on ACLOTM are much deeper and have more substance than anything they've done before. They have evolved and if you don't like that, find another band.

Sleeper 03-21-2005 03:07 PM

I wouldnt mind hearing some harder stuff on a future album.

Sound Boy 03-21-2005 03:45 PM

man thats insane...listen to sick sad little world and tell me thats not a good song...flippin great solo...and you cant tell me you cant rock hard to "priceless"...thats got their old style in it mixed with a lil bit of their new stuff...like remedy said..they are progressing as a band...if everything sounded like science a. they wouldnt be around much longer...b. theyd get compared to RHCP all the time. c. all their stuff would sound the same...like i said before losing dirk was a smart thing...in some instances i think that mike tought him alot of his parts. and pardon me (haha) for my rant but its flippin recockulous to say that they havent progressed...the parts in redefine isnt just bass too..its dirk playing with jose's toms...its not that difficult. if you listen to the stuff they have now slap bass wouldnt even fit well with it. if the new album bores you, i guess you havent heard it much.

sorry just dont Fuck with my band

Deth 03-21-2005 08:20 PM

I listened to ACLOTM all the way through today and it has now claimed my 2nd favorite Incubus album after science. Hurrah for ACLOTM!

400th post.

Sleeper 03-21-2005 08:51 PM

I would always put Make Yourself as my all time favorite, I dont know why.

Deth 03-21-2005 08:54 PM

Make Yourself is by far my least favorite album, I don't know why.

NP: Children of Bodom-Mask of Sanity

Sleeper 03-21-2005 08:57 PM

Well it was my first album i ever got from Incubus, And it sort of hit me that they are a amazing band. I know its not there best by any means, But when i listen to it i can play the cd over and over.

Sleeper 03-21-2005 08:57 PM

What are your favorite album covers from Incubus?

Sound Boy 03-21-2005 09:13 PM

i think make yourself would have to be my favorite cover...i mean they dont have AMAZING covers haha but yeah i like the jelly fish thing

also i think Make Yourself was their turning point..where they started coming into their own sound a sound that cant be as easily compared to...kind of like how deftones had White Pony...really an album to keep them out of the Nu-Metel genre.

is there anything you dont like about incubus?
there are only two things i dont like about incubus
1. they shouldve turned up mikes guitar on the Red Rock Dvd
2. the song "just a phase"....i dont know why. but im sure i'll like it eventually...like i used to dislike "favorite things" but now i like it
