That's great man. By the way, incase you do, it's not a good idea to do the whole slide your finger up and down the length of the keyboard thing. On a piano it's fine, but on a keyboard it'll wreck your keys. :thumb:

Sorry to hear about the drummer problem, KKKKKocaine. Have you actually got a replacement or are you looking for one?

moaner 03-12-2005 06:27 PM

wonder how having his name in italics is working out for aes...

Aes820 03-13-2005 03:32 PM

Very well thankyou, Moaner.
I've got some photos of my castle, if some would like to see. I'll edit this message soon.

That made no sense

Nice house aes.

Aha! I see you have a rackmount thing for your guitar stuff, now for my stupid question, where do you actually buy a rackmount rack?

AG 03-13-2005 06:02 PM

USA:

UK:

gaslight 03-13-2005 06:07 PM

What about Australia?

AG 03-13-2005 06:15 PM

How did I know that someone was gonna want Aussie results.

/will edit.

Well, I can't find any on google's first page, and I'm lazy.

Aes is an Aussie, so he'll probably be able to hook you up. Which is propably why you asked him in the first place :upset:

Aes820 03-13-2005 06:24 PM

I made that 4 space rack.
I used some pine ply, pine inch-box and aluminuim L brackets for the rails. I coverd it in car-carpet.
It probably cost me 70 AUD bucks or so in materials, and a day and a bit to build.

If you are handy with the tools, I would reccomend building one too. Because buying something like a Gator (which you should be able to order from any music store) can be kind of expensive.

gaslight 03-13-2005 06:24 PM

Haha :p. It's cool, I won't need one for a looong time, it's only when I buy a bass stack with a rackmont head and rackmount tuner that I'll need one.

The good thing about building your own, is you can make it to exactally the right size.
Alot of premade ones are very deep. Too deep for my needs. And too deep to comfortably position ontop of a 4x12.

I've got a link... here you go, for future reference:

Nice washing line you've got there - good buy. :p

Sweet house man. Love the Maton. :thumb:

Night all.

Thanks man.

"Finally, there is a sort of “cottage industry” building carpet-covered wood cases used by bands, DJ’s, or even as coffins for very, very short people."

:)
Thankyou Trea.
That Maton is a beautiful guitar.

gaslight 03-13-2005 07:32 PM

Maton's are awesome hey, Paul Dempsey plays them I think. And my friend owns a Maton acoustic.

Aes820 03-13-2005 07:49 PM

Tommy Emmanuel, Missy Higgins, and I think Ben Harper play Matons too.
I'm sure plenty more too.

Trigger_003 03-13-2005 08:14 PM

I was looking into getting one, but then someone showed me a Cole Clark FL1AC or something. That was awesome.

Matons and Cole Clarks are my fave acoustics. Shame about the price tag. I'm not ready to spend that much yet... although I'd like to.

Aes820 03-13-2005 08:24 PM

Yes. I wanted to buy a good one, with a cutaway and a Piezio, the Maton was the obvious choice for me. The Made in Australia tag was definately a bonus.
It's got a solid bunya pine top. So it's got a light blonde colour to it, as you can see from the photo.
It sounds great, but unfortuately the bunya pine is a soft wood and it is easilly prone to dints. So I've had to take extra care with it.

gaslight 03-13-2005 08:39 PM

The mahogany finish on my bass is really soft too.

Where I rest my thumb on the pick-up, my nail has made this big dent/carved into the wood.

KKKKKocaine 03-14-2005 01:19 AM

Nice house Aes, that shed looks very useful, and you have some pretty tree's.
Congratulations on your modship also!

I went to bed at 1am, got up at 6am, byt 7am I realised I had 8 minutes to put in my contacts, put 2 assignments onto floppy disk, then take them to my other pc to print, grab my bag, put a shirt on and go to college.
In the end I decided **** it, my next lecture doesn't start till 12 so to be honest, I don't really care :)

KKKKKocaine 03-14-2005 04:02 AM

Hey, any of you guys heard of Engine Down? Do they have a decent following?
We might be opening for them on their european tour at a local venue.

gaslight 03-14-2005 04:10 AM

I have an album of theirs, they're an okay band, nothing great, but still an enjoyable listen. It'd be a really awesome thing to open for them though.
I have an album of theirs, they're an okay band, nothing great, but still an enjoyable listen. It'd be a really awesome thing to open for them though.
Yeah we're hoping it'll be the fanbase kick we need to get things off in Leeds as our main problem up to now has been getting gigs with different styled bands, i.e. last gig was with a ska covers band, the one before with a metal band, Engine Down are a bit lighter than us, and no screaming that I can hear :( but they're pretty close to us and we might draw out some fans, plus the e.p. should be on sale then so w00t.

gaslight 03-14-2005 04:19 AM

Nice man, where are you at in the world anyway, England?

KKKKKocaine 03-14-2005 12:01 PM

Ah, England my good man.

Trigger_003 03-14-2005 05:09 PM

Hope that gig goes well for ya mate.

Argh, this is driving me crazy. In business studies we're doing a pretty sweet assignment where we create our own business. Typical me is doing a music shop, but we have to come up with an innovative name and I can't think of anything.

*Pulls a blank*

Um... Say if you sold pianos, call the store "Ivory Towers". Or just some kind of Pun dependant on what you sell.

moaner 03-14-2005 05:20 PM

I did that courseowkr, trigger.

Mine was just "<my last name>' Music", becuase I'm unorigional.

You only get ot find out the name if kkkocaine tells you my last name.

and aes, i know i shouldn't ask, but next time RATM does somehting banworthy, any chance you could make sure it happens?

Aes820 03-14-2005 05:38 PM
and aes, i know i shouldn't ask, but next time RATM does somehting banworthy, any chance you could make sure it happens?
If RATM (or any other user) does something that is deserved of a Ban, then I can pass through a suggestion to make it happen.

I talked to him in that thread in the Site forum and would like to think that we had come to an understanding.
If I see him continually spamming and flaming excessively, (which I havent seen any of yet) I'll remind him of our agreement. But If it does at all happen, we'll see where we go from there.

All I can ask of you is just to leave it alone. Take Morriseys advice and just drop the argument. It isn't going anywhere.

You can reach a mutal agreement with people, but only if you give them a little credit in the first place. You may find that most people can be reasonable if you show them a little respect in return.
That is the agreement that I would like to think that I have with RATM at the moment. Arguments flat out do not get anyone anywhere, especially when on the Internet.

Just sit tight, and we'll see what happens.

moaner 03-14-2005 05:39 PM

yeah, time for me to get out of that.

Good job the voice of reason is here.

Trigger_003 03-14-2005 07:36 PM

Haha, thanks Chris & Moaner. I looked through the Yellow Pages for ideas as well and everything was like Jay's Music Shop lol. I'll probably end up doing something stupid like Strings n Things.

gaslight 03-15-2005 01:26 AM

What kind of instruments do you sell, hypothetically?

The range of instruments and the target consumer demographic could all help pick a more effective name.

Aes, what do you know about room acoustics and axial nodes and RT60's? I have an acoustics assignment for the 15th of may and I've got a feeling it's going to be my hardest yet.

i am the robots 03-15-2005 03:03 PM

How about Die Musik Markt.

German names for the win!
