Hey you also missed bass wars, this is where bass players take each other on, and fellow mxers vote on which peice they like better. Two have already happened havic5 vs Joz and Twopelu vs Me. There will be more coming if those lazy people going will get moving!

i remember LR made a thread telling people not to post one word replies, smileys, or things like *spanks*, and one of the first replies in that thread by mox was *spanks*, and i laughed out loud.

I've never talked to LR. But I think she yelled at me once for something I posted in a thread about girl bass players. I thought I was being cool, but afterwards I just felt like a dick.

And, even though I'm sure she has no idea who I am, it's funny because it's like I know who she is because I must have printed out every lesson she has in the lessons forum. She's been like my private instructor for the past year, only I don't have to pay her 40 bucks a week. :thumb: You rule LR! And thatnks a ton for all the great things you've done for this forum.

the only thing holding me back from getting lessons is money, i don't know any theory except the notes on the neck, and that is **** all. I think that if i keep learning bass as i am, as soon as i get lessons it will be very hard for me to learn new things, like theory and stuff... i just wish i had the money for lessons, they sound so benificial... :upset:

Yeah, he was the most expensive around everyone else was charging like $30, but they all sounded like stoners trying to make a few extra bucks. I got some emails back (after I typed out like a 4 paragraph letter explaning what I wanted in a bass instructor) that looked like:

"well, i don't know any theory or anything. but i can show you how to play your bass. i charge 30 an hour"


or

"I took a lesson once on jazz improv before, so I'm sure that I could teach it to you."



I was like, "Eh, no thanks. I'll go with the guy who actually makes a living off playing his bass, and actually took the time to write to me and send me a resume."


Besides, LR, I think that the weekly plane rides from So. Cal. might be a little too much for me. But I'm sure if you were out here you could jack up your prices and still have kids lining up around the corner to take a lesson. :)

I had actually heard the bassist part out of a bass magazine, and when I saw a female bassist perform the first time it sounded different...not bad just different. I have known only one female drummer and the only thing i can say about her was that her beat was as fast as any guys but somehow softer...very interesting

off topic a bit but this is a general disucussion..does anyone know how i can find other band members in my area and can this site help?
