Someone needs to go back and compile a big list, instead of having to sift through 10 pages of the same 25-30 songs repeated over and over by different people unwilling to read the thread.

Oi_bass_77 05-15-2005 07:51 PM

Any Rancid

DanBueno 05-16-2005 02:16 AM

Sunshine of Your Love - Cream

Sounds good with a guitar player, plus gets you using your fingers and some bends in there too. Good practice!

For those of a simillar vintage to myself, who may hanker back to the early 80's Brit Funk sound of Mark King and Level 42 - "DUNE TUNE" was the very first piece I learned to play. I love it.
It's not that hard for a beginer but it gives you the chance to play bass as it's meant to be played, as lead. ;)

noteveryone 05-22-2005 10:54 AM

Hi guys
I'm looking for a fun song to play, something like little sister (qotsa) and i was hoping maybe you know some songs. I would like a song that goes rather fast, and is melodic. I would also like a song in the same genre as Qotsa.
Thx
Rikkus

Aquinnah 06-04-2005 09:51 AM

I've been playing for barely three weeks and so far I've learned:

Toadies: Possum Kingdom
Creedence: Down On the Corner
Creedence: Who'll Stop the Rain
Creedence: Bad Moon Rising
White Stripes: Seven Nation Army
The Transplants: Diamonds and Guns
Folk Implosion: Natural One *I do still have trouble with this one at times, but I can play it really, really slow. :p

Aneirin 06-04-2005 11:51 AM

Anyone know any good Metal songs for beginners? With the exception of Metallica (I've learnt loads of songs by them, still good though!).

Notus 06-17-2005 03:00 PM

Here are some REALLY easy songs to play, and I should know, because I just started playing a few days ago.

Easy:
Hole - Violet
Hole - Awful (fun to play)
Hole - Celebrity Skin (great, keeps you moving around)
Weezer - Hash Pipe
Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc.

Auf der Maur - Followed the Waves - Moderatly Easy... it's in drop D, still in the process of learning it myself, but an AWESOME song

muse_05 06-20-2005 09:33 PM

Well if your looking for an easy song to begin with its always good to start with sum punk like greenday or good charlotte

iAmCam 06-20-2005 09:43 PM

I have never tryed this (since i'm not really a beginner) but I just thought of this if you want to build up speed in slap/pop with you right hand.

Take any simple root noting songs(most punk) and then just slap the root and pop the octave. Try to keep up with the song. Good songs for this is probally ones where the bass is just doing straight eighth notes.
peace sells isnt exacctly a beginners song
Yeah it is, maybe at first if youve been playing for less than maybe a month it is, but it's fairly simple and impresses people who know the song and don't play an instrument(maybe).

Abrams 06-24-2005 04:58 PM

I know Anesthesia by Metallica is a great song for improvement. What are some other songs that will improve bass playing skills as a whole? Not just songs that are easy.

nyditch 06-28-2005 01:31 AM

The Beatles - A Day In The Life - not too difficult

I just started about a month ago and found this song to be fairly easy once you're used to it, especially once you memorize it.
