I believe that Sammy's a better singer (And guitar player), but many think different. Both are great for V.H either way.
As long as they have Eddie they will always be good. I like David Lee Roth better but either would be fine. |
lol to tell u the truth i'm just ecstatic they are having a reunion...
so what are the best classic rock concerts u guys have been to? mine are the Allman Brothers, Bruce Springsteen, and The Doors (even without Morrison) |
^ The Allman Brothers must have been crazy. "Blue Sky" = One of the greatest songs ever!!
As I said before Alice Cooper did the best show I've seen. Some runners up would be The Who, and Ted Nugent. |
Ted Nugent would kick arse! Wang Dang Sweet Poontang!!!!
|
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Classic rock thread, I need your requests.

^ Are you serious, listen to Tommy
I wouldn't be surprised if he was the best out of them. |
cut Townsend.
 No way! Edit: Add Paul Simon. That is a suggestion not a demand by the way. I just think he had some writing talent. |
Once we get some more feedback, I may put him.
|
well at least some of us have our heads on straight. it's a start. i'm wanna see some band come along and revitalize the classic rock style...
The post after this said something 'bout the darkness, which are in a mission to bring happiness back to our sad world of music. My band is full fledged stoner, and we got this whole thing going on cuase I just hate punk, metal, and whatnot and whatever is out there. I think we need to bring back bongos, trance music, and acoustic/electric stuff, cause I do not see more of that out there. More old bands you'd like are: Ten Yeras After Jimi Hendrix Experience(and plain Hendrix ,too!) Iron Butterfly Jefferson Airplane Peter Frampton Yes Peter Gabriel/Genesis The Police CREAM! Moody Blues J. Giles Band Fleetwood Mac Robert Palmer The Doors Derek and the Dominoes Styx Journey Foreiner Blues Image Pnk Floyd Syd Barret(solo work) Psychedelica(Slightly newer band with old taste) Sly and the Family Stone The Who Prince and the Revolution The Hollies The Kinks that's all I can name off the top of my head, there's way, way, way more. |

Yes!!! We need a band that comes along that resembles Santana, that'd be sweet. |
is tubular bells classic rock?

Yeah they are fairly talented and fun and good sounding but they are nowhere near some of the first clasic rock bands so unless they play a concert near me I won't really care about them. |
who are the tubular bells?
and ur list left off the beatles? and led zeppelin? and CSNY? and the Allman Bros? and Springsteen? and CCR? and Deep Purple? and the Grateful Dead? and Santana? Van Halen? the Yardbirds? SRV? Joe Cocker? the Doobie Bros? Lynyrd Skynyrd? Neil Young? the Byrds? Joe Walsh? the Eagles? AC/DC? Aerosmith? and the Rolling Stones? Bob Dylan? Steppenwolf? Dire Straits? the Band? Jethro Tull? Chicago? Queen? Traffic? oops sorry. got a little carried away. it's a great list, i just wanted to add some of my favorites to that. we should try to cobble together a complete definative list of classic rock bands. |
^ Calm yo self down!!!
|
lol told u i got a bit carried away and then i didn't feel like deleating them
anyways . . . so anyways, who saw the rock and roll hall of fame inductions this year and was dissapointed. ok so prince is talented, we know this. o and alesia keys and outkast are idiots. nothing new there. so then why show them so much. the least they coulda done was given traffic a full song. geez i'd take traffic over prince any day. and keith richards mind is gooooooooooooone... |
o and alesia keys and outkast are idiots. nothing new there.
 did they get into the fall of fame? |
 did they get into the fall of fame?
No, they just inducted Prince. |
yea and made idiots out of themselves in the process
|
John Blackwell, was playing for Prince (the drummer). That guy is insane.
|
so who SHOULD be in the rock and roll hall of fame? i think van halen and the doobie brothers are shoe ins.
|
I think Rush deserves their spot in the R&R Hall of fame.
|
I think Rush deserves their spot in the R&R Hall of fame.
They will get in eventually. Edit: Yeah Van Halen and the Doobie Brothers for sure. |
what about chicago and blood sweat and tears??
|
^ not my favorite of bands, but they do mix certain genres and do it nicely.
|
i think jethro tull is quite unique enough to deserve a spot. and i quite like dire straits, though i dunno enough of their material to say they deserve a slot. lynyrd skynyrd might though. i really would love joe cocker to get in as well. it's only a matter of time before black sabbath is in of course. way too influential to keep out. and i would love to see deep purple grab a slot...
|
Jethro Tull are among my favourites. so many differnet feels within one band...bluesly, folk rock, synths, its just so diverse from era to era with thim. their mid-late 70's were my favourite era with "a minstrel in the gallery, a passion play, warhorse, songs from the wood, and heavy horses".
|
and they have a flute, can't forget the flute...
|
Each band you have all named will probably soon enough get a spot. Keep in mind that the hall of fame has nor been around as long as you might think. They are still probably trying to enter the obvious canidates.
|
yes i know. i wish i understood how their process of admitting ppl works better. do u happen to know the criteria? also another band i think deserves a slot are the moody blues...
|
^ I have no idea, what I sayed before was just common sense.
|
i think it's on their web site, but i'm too lazy to check now. i'll do it later unless someone wants to do it for me, the url is www.rockhall.com
|
"Performers
Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artist’s contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll. The Foundation’s nominating committee, composed of rock and roll historians, selects nominees each year in the Performer category. Ballots are then sent to an international voting body of about 1,000 rock experts. Those performers who receive the highest number of votes, and more than 50 percent of the vote, are inducted. The Foundation generally inducts five to seven performers each year." there you go that's from the site bonzo listed |
how does one become a rock and roll historian or a rock expert? i want those jobs. much thanx to rock and roll for not making me do that. sorry i'm a lazy bum...
i wish they'd let stevie ray vaughn in. he is a god... |
^ A good college education and a masters in music would help.
|
lol i'm sure they would. what's in a rock and roll historians job description? they prob just write liner notes to compilation albums lol.
so i've never really listened to rush before, but as i've been drumming for 6 years now, i think it's long past time i start. anyone wanna recomend some cd's? or should i try and find a greatest hits album? |
lol i'm sure they would. what's in a rock and roll historians job description? they prob just write liner notes to compilation albums lol.
