Wu Tang Comp, 5 years of dubstep comp, and the Dub Assassin Vol 3 are must haves.

You could also get Zomby - Where Were U in '92?

Surf 01-18-2010 04:36 PM

wu tang comp is alright, no where near essential though. but that 5 year hyperdub one is great

not sure its been posted yet, but the cragga postman remix is pretty good.

I'm not so into the hyperdub stuff. I like stuff with ridiculous drops, like Skream and Borgore.
Getting into dubstep more and more. Anyone want to rec a couple more things?
Stenchman and Sukh Knight will be a good start then.

ATM 01-20-2010 12:08 PM

I like the Mong Song by Stenchman. I'll check out Sukh Knight. I just downloaded Skream! and a couple compilations.

ATM 01-20-2010 12:50 PM

Nice, thanks Wish.

2muchket! 01-20-2010 01:34 PM

Silkie - City Limits Vol 1 is pretty sweet too,

Arucard 01-22-2010 08:45 PM

Can you guys reccomend me some ambient dubstep? Just really chilled stuff?

And assuming you don't all hate the direction hes going in, Rusko's latest track is seriously quality. It borders on garage at times but the production values have gone up about tenfold.

Kyle 01-23-2010 09:48 AM

It's not really dubstep, but check out Mount Kimbie if you haven't already. They have two EPs and they are both incredible.

Arucard 01-24-2010 09:59 PM

what like not bass heavy? not much. if i'm being honest i've gone off dubstep a little since hearing Datsik and wondering 'why.' been listening to alot of tech house so...

but yeah anything chilled out [if it exists]

Kyle 01-25-2010 03:06 AM

There a lot of great stuff going on in Garage and more straight forward electronic music that you might be into.

He's got a lot of hype recently, but Joy Orbison is fantastic and the praise is justified. Also you could check out Deadboy, Mount Kimbie and the latest Four Tet record aswell.

I've liked dubstep for ages, but never really got into it as such, listenened to the popular rusko, skream, benga etc etc.

Last night changed my mind on that when I realised just how ****ing awesome this music is.

I'm on Slof Man, Borgore, Sukh Knight atm. I like that sort of style. I had a quick listen at hyperdub, and i much prefer the more darker, slower, bass-dropping style.

perriwinkle 01-26-2010 04:51 PM

heres a 14 min original track w/ Spank Rock remix
http://extlabs.com/ishkabum/oaktonblackouts.mp3
and a 22 min collaboration with my friend kept blue
http://extlabs.com/mp3s/gripdemo.mp3

looking forward to the Tes La Rok show in 5 days w/ two of my friends opening. wish i could have...

Arucard 01-26-2010 09:11 PM

Kyle - thats my problem, i just think alot of the dubstep i listen to is music by numbers, its simple and boring at the moment. I'm getting back into my minimal and prog house alot now so i might just give dubstep a rest for a while.

But yeah Joy Orbison is decent.

I've been trying to tell you this for ages negro.

I've got a load of more ambient stuff I need to show you when I'm back home tomorrow.

Aakon_Keetreh 02-04-2010 11:36 PM

Joker is lately a favorite, he is excellent.

2muchket! 02-05-2010 10:41 AM

Only have the kapsize release he did with Ginz.

Surf 02-05-2010 11:07 AM

Play Doe with Rustie is one of Joker's best.

Anyone here ever listen to Pacheko or Cardopusher? It's some pretty dope Brazilian dubstep, and they incorporate more melodies into it than most of the shit thats going around right now. Its a lot more captivating than the average dubstep song, which usually has womping dissonant bass compared to what else is going on as far as melody is concerned.

2muchket! 02-09-2010 11:01 PM

I've heard of Cardopusher and he's more breakbeat.

Still very good stuff.

kicked 02-09-2010 11:33 PM

oh word, I dont have much by him, just a mix with him and Pacheko.

2muchket! 02-10-2010 12:25 AM

I've got his album from last year, it's good.

TimJim 02-10-2010 12:27 AM

cardopusher rulez

Kyle 02-10-2010 03:42 AM

I've been listening to the new Babe Rainbow EP released on Warp - so good!

TimJim 02-18-2010 01:11 PM

this song is pretty good

2muchket! 02-18-2010 03:36 PM

Checked out the rest of his tunes, good shout tim !

kicked 02-18-2010 04:22 PM

Yeah that was some ill shit (Shekel). Really cool sounds in there for the wobble bass, doing something a bit different than everyone else.

Can anybody recommend me any liquid dubstep? Like songs or DJs that use a lot of wet/chorusy sounds?

TimJim 02-18-2010 04:26 PM

damn neither What nor Waffles have Shekel

ughhhh

he has a bunch of ****. reminds me of Cookie Monsta but more insane
