Don't worry too much about what we say to you/about you. We tend to be hard on new users, just ignore it and it will go away.
Hiya, pate. :smoke:

By the way I guess I should say, avant-garde is different than prog. Like prog has more to do with the actual technique, and avant-garde has more to do with the overall work. I admit, depending who you ask, it is not a typical term. Hmmm I notice the Encyclopaedia Metallum doesn't have a section for that genre. *shrug*
Yeah sorry if I come off as a dick, I just don't see how stuff that gets coined, "avant garde" metal is very avant garde at all, just kind of original eccentric sounding metal... it's still quite musical, you know?

Si1v3RfaNg 04-25-2009 09:07 AM

Hey guys recomend me some elite music with amazing drumming. I know Decapitated's Winds of Plague, so don't rec that. It can be anything within the metal genre, I don't care, as long as it's metal.

2muchket! 04-25-2009 09:10 AM

Animosity would be a good place to start.

Si1v3RfaNg 04-25-2009 09:11 AM

I tried them a while ago, while I enjoyed the drumming, I pretty much hated everything else.

Txus 04-25-2009 09:48 AM

Dayton is a beast!!

hismajestythepope 04-25-2009 02:59 PM

Yeah gonna suggest Embrace The End - Ley Lines, even though I already did on Facebook.

Bart (from ETE) and Dayton are cool because they're like oh hey let's do really cool fills all the ****ing time.

The Feeding 04-25-2009 03:02 PM

isn't Dayton playing drums for GOV now?

*generic Mastodon rec*

Tyler 04-26-2009 12:36 AM

mastodon's drumming isn't so much amazing as it is incessant, overbearing and sometimes distractingly superfluous.

The Feeding 04-26-2009 12:38 AM

DEFF!!! dude plays fills for the entire song sometimes, just play a goddamn beat for 30 secs plz

Txus 04-26-2009 12:45 AM

he is a really good drummer tbh

hismajestythepope 04-26-2009 12:47 AM

Almost as good as Gospel's drummer.

Txus 04-26-2009 12:48 AM

Nah, not THAT good.

La Quiete's drummer is almost as good as Gospels drummer though, srsly.

The Feeding 04-26-2009 12:50 AM
he is a really good drummer tbh
i'm not saying he isn't talented. It's the same thing as a lot of tech/prog bands who are amazing musicians but can't write a good song to save their life

hismajestythepope 04-26-2009 12:57 AM
Nah, not THAT good.

I was being tongue and cheek dude.

Gospel's drummer is another great example of overplaying.

The Feeding 04-26-2009 12:58 AM

that was directed @ Txus

He's not nearly as bad on the new one.
