Crossed-Out is f'ucking awesome. They're split 5" with Dropdead was f'ucking brutal. Amazing how a band that only played 13 (I think? or 19?) live shows, became so popular, and are regarded as one of the firsts to be regarded as a powerviolence band.

Yeah, Crossed Out tend to be a staple band for the powerviolence genre.

Hijack from the Hardcore forum: New Magrudergrind tracks are up on their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/magrudergrind

Who is f'ucking psyched on their new LP is set to release April 10th? Based on the new myspace tracks from the LP, this LP sounds a lot like their Demo/older Magrudergrind. Mough does more vocal work I think, and provides a sick contrast between his deep grunting and Avi's high-pitched screams. This album is going to be killer methinks!

RetiredAt21 02-21-2007 07:12 PM

The new Magrudergrind rules.

Death_or_Glory 02-22-2007 03:39 PM

I'm really excited for the new Magrudergrind, they're one of the few powerviolence bands I really like. Any recommendations for bands similar to Margrudergrind?

RetiredAt21 02-22-2007 06:13 PM

Check out Sylvester Staline, they rule.

Aus Rotten 02-22-2007 06:31 PM

Truth, Sylvester Staline or check out A Warm Gun. A Warm Gun is Mough's (plays guitar for Magrudergrind) band. He does vocals for A Warm Gun, not guitar works.

RetiredAt21 02-22-2007 07:31 PM

A Warm Gun, eh? Never heard of them, I'll check them out after I'm done smoking a bowl.

:smoke:

Death_or_Glory 02-24-2007 12:23 PM

Thanks for the recomendations. I thought that Sylvester Staline was ok, and I really liked A Warm Gun.

Ok?! Daymn! Get "We'll Spread Hard Drugs To Your Stupid Kids From The Royalties Of This CD" -- album is seriously top-notch.

Judge Dread is an old ska band I believe! What a rip-off! I laughed so hard at the "bathrub" s'hitter mispelling. aww!

I don't even know why I replied to this post, I think it was just a shameless plug... :upset:

powerplant 02-28-2007 05:03 PM

judge dread was some guy that did ska, but he died a while ago. and it's not really a shameless plug considering i'm not in the band, they are actually one of my favorite bands so i decided to let everyone hear them!

i always type bathrub by accident, hahaha, i don't know why.

RetiredAt21 02-28-2007 08:30 PM

Hahahaha, I like Bathrub Shitter alot.

It was alright. Not enough eardrum piercing, glass shattering screams though. I'll wait until it is realeased to say more. Definately do not want to sell them short. Magrudergrind is one of my favorite bands ever.

Aus Rotten 03-01-2007 12:13 AM

True, that's only two songs though. Like I stated previously, Mough does a lot more vocal work, and the new stuff sounds a lot like their real old stuff.

Elliptical Ion 03-01-2007 02:34 AM

One of my favorite Power Violence bands ever is Surf Nazis Must Die.
One of my favorite Power Violence bands ever is Surf Nazis Must Die.
That's just a fast hardcore band, but yeah they are pretty awesome.

Elliptical Ion 03-01-2007 08:50 AM

Have you heard their demo from when they called themselves Adolf Hitler Klan? It's the only thing they released (on cassette) before disbanding. Only to come back as the Surf Nazis Must Die. I'm not completely sure of the forum rules yet, but if it's allowed, I will upload both of these.

RetiredAt21 03-01-2007 10:46 AM

I don't think I've ever heard anything from Surf Nazis Must Die, so I'd really like to hear it.

Aus Rotten 03-01-2007 10:51 AM

Surf Nazis Must Die are alright. They were "Adolf Hitler Klan" pre-Surf Nazis Must Die. As Adolf Hitler Klan they just released that demo cassette. As Surf Nazi's Must Die, I believe they just released one S/T 7". I think they changed their name because "Adolf Hitler Klan" was a pretty senselessly offensive name. Overall, it Adolf Hitler Klan is one of the worst band name i've ever heard. Thank Allah they changed to one of the best band names i've ever heard, "Surf Nazi's Must Die."

Opinion about releases:
Adolf Hitler Klan cassette: An "okay" release, with some highlights, but some real downers. Good songs like "DIY 'Til I Die" provide a nice humorous touch to the release, with some very catchy guitar lines. Pretty good song for :30-ish seconds. Other songs like "Angekotzt" and "All Hail To Ibbenburen" are just great songs. Awesome riffs, and even a nice sing-a-long in "All Hail To Ibbenburen." The other half of the cassette is REALLY boring, and not very good both lyrically or musically. With songs like "Adolf W. Bush" and lyrics like "Kill George W. Bush. He's a f'ucking retarded a'sshole. Give me a gun i'll make him cold. Kill George W. Bush (x4)" -- needless to say... a real downer.

Surf Nazi's Must Die S/T 7": Again, an "okay" release. Overall, kind of boring. There's not a HUGE difference between songs on the release, and the record never feels like it's moving anywhere. Just when I thought it was about to climax, it just repeats the same repetitive stuff. The vocals I do really appriciate though. The angsty/annoying/screeching provides for a nice harsh tone to the record, and makes it seem as if the singer is really passionate and angry in what he's saying. The vocals I did dig, the music though, was kind of slow and boring as stated previously.

In summation, both bands are very mediocre and mainstream. Both of their releases had some ups and downs, but never seemed as if they were going anywhere. Surf Nazis Must Die just recently broke up too, about a few months - to a year ago? Something like that. :thumb:

Do any of you f'ucking crazy trashers living fast dig Threatener? I've been listening to Threatener for some time now, and just recently snagged their demo cassette from a collector. They haven't been discussed here, which is a shame, as they are easily in my top 3 Powerviolence bands list. Here's the megaupload:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3LRSNDP8

I highly recommend you listen to "Human Junk" "Isolation King" "Warpath To Recovery" "Latrine Animal" and "See You In the Hospital" before you listen to anything else in that mix. In that folder are both of their 7"'s -- "The Fastening" and "The Hammering." Threatener is blistering fast drums, insane guitar waling, with f'ucking absolutely killer/catchy riffs. It's easy to see why they are one of the top bands on most people's favorite's list. I've honestly never met a person who dug this style of music say anything negative about Threatener. Sadly, in the spirit of most all legendary/great bands, they broke up shortly after releasing just their second 7".

If you guys haven't heard Threatener before, please download it, and give the recommended songs a listen. I'd really like to discuss some Threatener for a little bit. :thumb:

Elliptical Ion 03-01-2007 12:50 PM

I'll check out the Threatener when I get home today. As for your reviews of Surf Nazis Must Die and Adolf Hitler Klan, they were actually well thought out and nicely written. Only thing I'm surprised to hear anyone say is that either band was mainstream. Mind elaborating on this a little bit? I'm not trying to pick a fight, just curious.

And I'll up both the AHK Demo and Surf Nazis Must Die Discography (In one file) a little later today.

Ah, mainstream was definately a wrong choice of words there. What I meant by "mainstream" was that they were too basic I think. No real technical work done. In "DIY Til I Die" by AHK, I think it has some tough riffs and such, and sure it's catchy, but other than that, meh, nothing really too technical, or a better way to put it is, there's really nothing on either of their releases that REALLY stands out as a gem. Sure, there's good songs and bad songs, but no songs that are REALLY bad, and no songs that are particularly REALLY good.

As for Threatener, definately, definately check them out. Some very raw stuff, excellent/powerful riffs. Short/Sharp/Fast/cut-throat/and to-the-f'ucking-point is Threatener summed up. If you manage to snag their lyrics somewhere online, they're genius, no joke. The lyrics depict a grim world portrayed by Rod (vocalist). Basically, the lyrics are him venting about what he hates about this world. Broad vocal range -- he touches on everything from Christians, to war, to his dislike of a pop-culture/consumerist society. Truly brilliant work, both lyrically and musically.
