I don't know, I listen to drummers and think about how cool something sounds, how good or bad it is, but I just haven't got a clue how they do it and make it sound good. Anyone can mess around on guitar or bass for a few minutes and come up with something that's listenable, but to come up with a drum part to a song... I just can't wrap my head around it. It seems way too complicated.
After Hobbes should me FL studio i kinda got hooked, I mean i always liked drums but now i think i under stand drums a lot better and I'm sure he would be much better at explaining it. The way i see it is that the kick drum is the base of the drums for everything works from that. I use the snare to either complement the kick drum or vice versa(You can also see it has slaping and pooping, Figure out differant patterns and move the slaps to the kick drum and the pops to the snare). After that you basically fill the sonic holes, you want it sound fil so add a hi hat going at 16th notes and you have a listenable drum beat that easy to play along with. |
screw this, i'm out for the night. Goodnight anyone who sees this
Drums are probably the hardest instrument to start off, just cuz they're completely different from almost anything else. Once you get playing for a little than a year though, a basic beat is extremely easy to make.
Yeah, I've tried messing around on drum kits several times, I just can't get the hang of it, not even simple stuff. However, the last one I played on, I blame the drummer for being left handed. :p I still would have sucked if he was a righty and it was set up the other way... :( |

I thought I just lost my dog for awhile there.

can somebody help me with my double thumb. I have it down with the up down pluck on the G string, but i can't seem to get my finger in between any of the other strings plus my thumb sometimes goes thruogh two string instead of just one.
|
Here's my advice for double thumbing:
Don't do it. :) |
Here's my advice for double thumbing:

I suppose. :p I'm not particularly fond of the technique. Maybe it's just because it sounds like ass on my bass. Actually... I think that's totally it. |
I vote nay on Bill 32: Double Thumbing
|
I feel like a gimp when I play drums.
|
Right now my thumb is voting no as well i'm starting to bleed. I think thats a good sign to stop playing

That's weird, it sounds just fine on mine. Maybe you're doing it wrong. :p |
That's weird, it sounds just fine on mine.
Maybe you're doing it wrong. :p
Maybe you should shut up. :upset: It's probably my amp. My slap tone is infinitely better when recorded, but on my amp, it sounds like barf. And my double thumbing technique is shart too, which I'm sure is half the battle. |
I'm at a dissadvantage becuase i don't have a "hitch hikers" thumb so it make parallel slaping and double thumb a bit harder i think
|
Okay Spiff, just got back from Jazz band and I've messaged the admins. Managed to raise my ratio from .012 to .017 too. yay?
:upset: This sucks. |

Even with the tight string spacing I don't have much troubles adding popping on the same string as the double thumbing. I guess I've just practiced it a lot. |

I don't have a big crooked thumb either. |

how long did it take you to get it down? |
I enjoy playing the bass guitar.

I can, which is what I was trying to say... but I got lost in my own words. I still have a little trouble, but I can usually do it without any problems. |

I'm sad about the loss of my plant. Someone cheer me up.
