Flee the Century and Death to Grays, who have recently broken up, are both amazing bands from Spokane, WA, about 90 mins from where i live.

Nanomansion is a local band (Lewiston, ID) they're cool guys, and make some beautiful music.

mayonaise 11-29-2005 01:44 PM

from my country (Canada):

Matthew Good / MGB
Our Lady Peace
Sloan

from my PROVINCE (seeing as how we dont have states in Canada)

Neil Young (Manitoba)

yeah i know neil young was born in toronto, and i know he moved to the states where he did all his good work, but he still counts as manitoban.

jcbsc 11-29-2005 09:49 PM

There aren't a lot of bands to go national from my state (Alaska), but among the few...

Anatomy of a Ghost
Portugal. The Man

And a local band called Strept (http://myspace.com/akstrept)

Agreed. If I was from Canada I would say SYL by a mile.

Australia - AC/DC or Red Paintings

ヴェア ラッセル 12-09-2005 03:01 AM

I don't like much from Hawaii, Jack Johnson is okay but that's it.

I'm seeing all of them + Van She on sunday at the Modular/Tsubi Xmas party.

And some 'secret special guests'. Can't wait.

Horiible. I agree this is disappointing. I bet you've only hear PTH from MTV/MuchMusic havent you?

Protest The Hero
Alexisonfire
Forgotten Rebels
Closet Monster
Hostage Life
Screw It! There are so many other great bands out there from Canada, but what you listed is pretty bad. Theyre all good, but not the best AT ALL.

OrbDragon 12-20-2005 10:27 AM

MissAntarctica. (http://www.missantarctica.net)

Think Radiohead, Wheat, The Flaming Lips, Pedro The Lion and Wilco in one. Great band. They are stationed here in Holland, but half of the band is British. You can definately hear that in their sound. Their debut is called "Lost Electricity" well worth checking out!

Glitterati 12-20-2005 12:51 PM

Oh goodness! How did I forget the Arrogant Worms! Such musical goodness.

cicatriz 12-20-2005 01:57 PM
I'd definitely say The Smiths mmmm.... Manchester is the best.

Along with the Stone Roses and Joy Division.
Amen. Manchester is the King of music, and record shops.

I'd probably say my favourite bands from this country are Charlottfield, Corinthians, and UpCDownC.

Pale-Folklore 12-20-2005 05:41 PM

Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Arcade Fire
Mare
Cryptopsy
Woods of Ypres
SYL
