I actually have been whoring that everywhere, as people seem to miss it, and I think everyone should have it. It seriously gives Blazing Arrow a run as his best album.
I don't think it's as good as Blazing Arrow at all, but it's definitely miles ahead of Nia, and an amazing album in general. Despite the fact that the songs themselves don't compare to Blazing Arrow, his rapping is more flawless than it's ever been. Like in the song Your Move, does he even pause once? I don't think so. So relentless. |
Lord Quas is on the Madvillain album too, which doesn't help.
yeah, Madlib does a similar thing too. In addition to himself there's also lootpack, quasimoto (lord quas), jaylib, yesterday's new quintent and more I'm sure. |

After the first few listenings I think I'd rate it around 4.25/5 or something. |
The Craft is probably Gab's best work so far. "Your Move" is the only track I find him less than stellar (he's rather monotone and lifeless). As much as I love his rapping, Blackalicious lives and dies by Chief Xcel's hands (I say). I like the beats on The Craft morre than Blazing Arrow, but the personality that Arrow had was just untouchable. The first 6 tracks and the last 4 tracks of Arrow are flawless. Craft is good, just doesn't give me the same impression Arrow did.
NIA is the worst Blackalicious album in my opinion. |
Not really. I mean you'll recognize it's him on pretty much any album, just some times he runs stronger with different themes depending on the name he uses. At least that's what I find. He really gets into the persona, but you'll know it's him.
he sounds different in KMD though |
he sounds different in KMD though
I think Doom was 18 when Mr. Hood came out too. The whole Doom persona came from the death of his brother SubRoc. Plus if he records under other aliases, he get's to put out records on other labels. I mean he does all his Metal Fingers stuff on his own imprint, but his other records have been on SubVerse, Natures Sound, Stones Throw, Big Dada, Epitaph and now Rhymesayers. Quas is just 'Libs other persona. Apparenly Madlib hates his voice recorded, which is kinda crazy cause he kills it on some of the Lootpack ****. Sage Francis reminds me of a hardcore kid that was a poetry nerd. I think some of the Fugazi and Minor Threat references might back me up. I dunno, I was kinda into the preachy hardcore scene of the mid 90's and I just don't need to be preached at at a show since 95% of the time, you are preachin to the converted. I think some of the beats on a healthy distrust were just eh. That's probably why I liked the non prophets record just because the beats were better produced. Call me crazy. |

I picked up 2 albums today that i've been meaning to get for a while, they were both in a sale for £5 each!
Dr Dre - The Chronic Snoop - Doggystle I totally reccomend these albums to anyone interested in either artist, they are pretty great. |

A Tribe Called Quest is one of my favorites right now, I think they were great. |
Madlib's Shades of Blue is just really coool.
|

acelone ( sp?)
Do you mean Aceyalone? I just listened to Haiku D'Etat's self-titled for the first and second time a week or so ago, and it was disappointing. |
Snoop - Doggystle
:shifty: not a fan of that album :)
Dr Dre - The Chronic
haha one of my all time favs :) are the roots considered rap? they are one of my favorite ...rap...bands...? any way i like em alot. :p |

Phrenology is quite good, and so is The Tipping Point (although it's obvious that it's The Roots' least good effort). I really don't see why the latter is hated on here, it's a killer lyrically. |

Yeah, but both albums as a whole are just lackluster and blah...and the only songs that stick off of either are "Web" and "The Seed 2.0" |
The Roots have never had an all out amazing album. They usually have really good tracks coupled with decent tracks (which reminds me of Bob Marley a ton). Do You Want More?!!!??! is my least favorite of them, and Things Fall Apart is my favorite. Everything else is ranked about the same, with possibly Phrenology the better album out of that bunch. You can't go wrong with any of their albums.

I'm recently in love with Kool Keith's voice. It's so sexy.

Thank you very much.

"Star", "Water" and "Boom!" are not to be forgotten imo. I think Do You Want More?!!!??!, Illadelph Halflife and Things Fall Apart are all classic tho. |
Hey don't mean to hijack your discussion here but I need help. I've started listening to abit of hip-hop recently and I remember this rap vid i saw awhile ago. I think it was by a guy called K-os and he was walking around and had alot of people wearing masks which I thought resembled Crabs in some way or another. It had a kind've swingy Jazzy feal to it. Anyone know what track I'm talking about?
EDIT: Okies just found the album only, The song was Crabbucket. So yeh....I'm pretty much new to this whole Rap and Hip-hop thing. Recomend me some that isn't Gangsta rap. Thank you :thumb: |
Does anyone like Haiku D'Etat? I think if anyone's heard Busdriver and hasn't heard these guys they should! They mix it all up just like Busdriver does, their "coup de theatre" album's great.
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/fk.weatherstone/08-haiku_detat-poetry_takeover-ftd.mp3 there's a song! |
Any Edan fans?
|
I have a couple of songs by Edan, that I got from you, I think. They're good, if I remember correctly, but they're on my other (University) computer, so I haven't been listening to them much for a long while now.

I was just sent a DJ Qbert album. This is seriously amazing. |

I was just sent a DJ Qbert album. This is seriously amazing.
I saw him live he is amazing fast, I just can't get into DJs though. I never tried and don't know a lot about it but it just seems like it doesn't involve any talent I could be and probably am wrong. Also does anybody know why he just uses one turntable instead of two? |
Anybody else like Common? "Be" is really good, imo.
|
i always liked 7L&Esoteric among many other rap artists.
oh, and if you think that Busta Rhymes or Twista are the fastest mc's in the hip hop world, you should ask me to send you a song from a Romanian band, called R.A.C.L.A (in aproximative translation that means coffin) I tell you guys, i couldnt believe what i was hearing while playing the song. Absolutley amazing. Then i saw them live play it and i was stunned ever since. yahoo id if anybody is interested : missanntrophe (just leave a message that you are from this forum so i know) |
