However, downloading isn't a viable option for me
I can't download music due to the amount my college charges me for internet. If I had any brains, I'd leave mx and save myself a small fortune. I know I won't though. Anyway, I appreciate the offer, it's very generous, but for the amount I would pay to download it I'd rather just buy the album. :) |

Oops! Sorry 'bout that! For what it's worth, VP are awesome and good guys too - I definitely encourage everyone to grab one of their albums. Their new one is out on Dockyard-1 (Piet Sielk from Iron Savior's label) if no one has mentioned that yet. Anyone who wants a taster of what they do, have a look around the P2P networks for Surreal from Tangled In Dream. Awesome song. :) |

Hehe, thats cool I read that quote but wasn't sure why you would be unable to so I decided to offer. If anyone else is interested I'll happily upload some. |

Greg and any other's showing some interest: A rare Red Paintings song that I just remembered I have, it's on webspace at the moment, sunbaking.

Nice, yet another band that I have been meaning to sample as I have heard some talk about them both on MX and elsewhere.
|
Whats that you say? Rare?
/breaks no downloading of music rule Ulysses, your in luck. I upload The Red Paintings - Walls [EP] just the other night. Theres the link if your/anyone is interested. EDIT: Just listened to I'll Sell You Suicide. It's not bad, recording quality isn't the best though. I was hoping for more of a distorted ending, like I've been loving on The Streets Fell Into My Window or the middle of Dead Adults, but meh, still a decent track. I'm glad it's now in my collection. |
Cheers mate, downloading now

Sunk Loto
The Band: Vocals/Guitar - Jason Brown Guitar - Luke McDonald Bass - Sean Van Gennip Drums - Dane Brown Sunk Loto have been the makers of much great Hard Rock since the release of their debut EP, Society Anxiety, in 1999. It's a good collection of short, rocking tracks that aren't too hard on the lesser experienced musicians. It's opening track, Vinegar Stroke, was the first song I learnt with my first band. Big Picture Lies was the groups debut album, and it first hit Australian audiences some time in the year 2000. The band sounds varied a little more than the EP, making it less repetitive, and the increase in cleanly sung vocals was a big plus for me. I find 11 to be an intriuging track, with it's Hip-Hop style beat and vocals. It just not something I expected from Sunk Loto, but it's not bad. Sunken Eyes is a stand out track, and consequently became rather popular. I can also see similarities with the band Karnivool. 3 years followed before Between Birth And Death was released as their second album. Jason reverts to more of his screaming vocals, and the album is generally more aggressive. It's not bad, but I wouldn't call it brilliant. I guess what most impresses me about this band is their live show, and the fact that they actually went to Mt Isa. Apparently at one point, the Mt Isa show was listed as one of their best on their website, but I never saw it. Give these guys a listen, as any Aussie should have heard them at least once. This is a good EP, they could've made an album out of this material. I would like to see this band live now that I've heard them. "Walls", "Dead Adults" and "Mad World" are great tracks but the whole EP is pretty solid. They are coming to Sydney in late September, I might check them out.

I do believe Daysend are a quality Australian band sorry dont have enough time to do one of those big *** thingis but im shaw someone will ne ways daysend go off they opend for Slipknot in january i thaught they were better then Hatebreed that night and i think they opend for In Flames and Chimaira back in September 04. HeavyRiva, are you still intending on doing something on Silverchair? If your not, let me know and I'll gladly do it.
Same goes for AIC/EAZY-E with Shihad. :) |
I love you G_Mac.

Anyone heard Wolfmother's new single "Mind's Eye"? It's coming out October 16th or thereabouts, I heard it on the radio and also on their website but haven't found a place to download it. I will probably buy their new album anyway as it will be released soon.
|
The Living End should have a new single out soonish as well. Going from their recent material though, it's probably not anything to really get excited about.
|
Yeah, they have talent though and great potential. It is a shame that it was disregarded on Modern ARTillery, I know you're probably right but I'm hoping they have canned making songs like Who's Gonna Save Us.
|
The Living End used to definately own all. But Modern Artillery sucked humungous ape testicles.
|
wow! I thought this thread was dead. I might actually do a few more artists for it now that it's been revived.
Powderfinger! Powderfinger! Powderfinger!
I'm quite stunned to see that they haven't even earned a mention on this thread yet considering they are one of the most repected Oz bands ever. For the uninitiated (you should be initiated), here's a quick run through... Bernard Fanning – Vocals Darren Middleton – Guitar Ian Haug – Guitar John Collins – Bass Jon Coghill – Drums Established in Brisbane in the early 90’s, they made a few sub-par EP’s which lead to their dark debut album ‘Parables for Wooden Ears’. This had a real Soundgarden vibe (though, not as good) and because of it’s lack of catchy tunes, sold by the handful. The follow-up album ‘Double Allergic’ is what saw them hit the big time, with such classic songs as “Pick You Up” and “d.a.f” (which was named after the chord progression). This saw them receive plenty of radio air-play, with many touting them as the “next big thing” of Oz rock. Their third outing ‘Internationalist’ confirmed this. Far lighter and more “indie” than previous records, it blew away the charts and won six Australian Record Industry Awards including ‘best single’ (for “Day You Come”) and the almighty ‘album of the year’. Many believed “Internationalist” couldn’t be topped. But in 2000 they proved their talent with one of their most subdued (and arguably best) albums. ‘Odyssey Number Five’ is a work of genius that was home to such hits as “Waiting for the Sun” (their best song IMO), “Like a Dog”, “These Days”, “My Kinda Scene”, “Thrilloilogy” and the most noted song – “My Happiness”, which also won ‘best single’. This album also won the ARIA for ‘album of the year’. After extensive worldwide touring, the band decided to tackle the next album with an entirely different approach – to drop the pop-rock sound and feed themselves on a diet of classic blues and “rock’n’soul” and created their loudest record ‘Vulture Street’ – which was inspired by acts from Led Zeppelin to Leadbelly. This album was also a critical success and completed their ‘album of the year’ hat-trick, beating off the evil Delta Goodrem to take the prize. They’ve gone on a break now, but you’d do well to seriously check them out. Best songs are: Waiting for the Sun Passenger Pick You Up Day You Come These Days The list is endless……. I’m not a computer wizard, so I don’t know exactly how to “upload” stuff. Their site should set you straight though. http://www.powderfinger.com I hope this works!!!
bernard fanning has just released a solo album, they've been playing it on JJJ almost non-stop for about a week now |
Headkase
"Their style of death metal meets Mr. Bungle got some response from the crowd, which had almost doubled by the end of their 30 minute opening set." Simon Milburn - Rave Magazine
February 2001 saw the birth of what would soon become Brisbanes premier Industrial Metal band, Headkase. The band is still very much in their early days, having yet to release a full length album, but their demos and live performances leave promise. The list of influences is really quite extensive (The Wiggles  ), and I guess that is reflected by their music. The Band is as follows Vocals - Nutty Spotswood Bass - Dylan DK Star Rhythm Guitar - Tristan Sykes Lead Guitar - Raleigh Valemont Drums - Toddy Hansen Keyboard - Brett Hansen Give them a listen at http://www.headkase.net/index.php/content/view/14/43/ http://www.headkase.net |
Wolfmother - Wolfmother has hit the shelves, that album blows my mind. Classic rock is ressurected. Anyone have any thoughts on the new Living End track?
|
I'm going to give the Wolfmother album a listen tonight. :)
What's the name of the new Living End track? |
Has anyone done Psycroptic?
