I've re-downloaded and reinstalled countless times :)

I've just more or less given up on them all.

Shred Danson 03-22-2005 10:30 AM

Might be a virus within the program. I don't know. All I know is I hate Soulseek .

Jondur 03-22-2005 11:04 AM

Alert! Thread Hijack!!! *prepares weaponry*

Now you're both here - you might as well listen to the songs me and joe_fresh have posted and then post some feedback!

Thanking you in anticipation

Bartender 03-22-2005 11:07 AM

That's why I was lamenting my being on 56K in the first place. I want to listen to the Unsilence track (and the others, but that one especially), and it'll take me ages to download (especialy since they're doom, and so I'm assuming rather long). I'll download them eventually, but I'll probably wait til I've gone away from the computer to watch a film or something, and let it get on with it.

Jondur 03-22-2005 11:09 AM

If you're all very nice you might get a sneak preview of the new Candlemass album tomorrow.
Cheers for the Pagan Altar - great band. As you mightexpect from their vintage, they sit right on the NWOBHM/doom border. A great band none the less.

I wasn't impressed by abstrakt Algebra at all.

Now here's my offerings:

Don't be gay listen to:

Solstice "To Ride With Tyr"

Epic doom featuring me hitting things:

Unsilence - A Walk Through Oceans

With the exception of Candlemass, there is no better doom band than the mighty Solitude Aeturnus:

Solitude Aeturnus - The 8th Day :Mourning
the soltice and solitude aeturnus are what you would expect from them, excellent doom.

shame i cant say the same about the unsilence. Bit boring, with poor vocals. Although the bit which is about 5min through is pretty good.

Thanks, I'll download them later.

I wonder if there's any way to be nice enough to deserve bits of the new Candlemass album, without sending Jondur money and/or women.

Shred Danson 03-23-2005 10:09 AM

Where the hell have you gotten the new Candlemass, Jondur?

Patrick O))) 03-23-2005 11:13 AM

I hope this works ...

edit: ah, didnt realise it was your band, should probably read it next time

Shred Danson 03-24-2005 10:11 AM

What a low blow

You guys have an album out*?

*for sale online

LordDargon 03-25-2005 06:20 AM

Any of you guys know of an album where the atmosphere is similar to that on Candlemass - Samarithan? You know how it's like depressing and uplifting at the same time. That would surely be the greatest album known to mankind, an album transcending all space and time to... yeah, ok, just start with the suggestions. :p

the2stranger 03-27-2005 12:31 PM

hhm this may sound rather weird, but a lot of doom metal isn't all that doomy and depressing to me.
does anyone know any doom metal bands like my dying bride, cause that band really makes me want to slit my wrists, and I like theri lyrics, very poetic :)

so any MDB alike bands?

Stoic 03-27-2005 03:43 PM

Just heard a cool song by Minotauri. Check them out if not already!

Well MDB aren't really doom metal, but the bands I always associate with them as similar are;

Forest of Shadows
Forest Stream
Katatonia

6Stringer 03-27-2005 09:04 PM

I bought the Cluth album "Blast Tyrant" and I am in awe over it, its one of the greatest stoner rock albums I've ever heard. Some of my other favorite stoner rock bands are Kyuss, Five Horse Johnson and Fu Manchu. Haven't heard any doom metal before, but I must check it out sometime soon.

willis2441 03-27-2005 09:05 PM

i like doom metal

Poo Poo Pedestrian Concpiracy 03-27-2005 09:12 PM

Southern Lord Records has a really good Doom/Stoner lineup. Has anyone heard of Teeth Of Lions Rule the Devine they are a good doom/stoner band with the one of the guitarists from Naplam Death. Ive listened to a couple songs by them and I really like them.

Bartender 03-28-2005 09:56 AM

I've heard of them, I think. Lee Dorrian's involved with them somehow, I think. I haven't heard them though.

SSSnake... 03-28-2005 10:04 AM

Yeah. I know them. Amazing collaboration of Lee Dorian, Greg Anderson, Stephen O'Malley and Justin Greaves. I really recommend 'Rampton' if you like extreme drone and extreme sludge. It's a really dark album, the first song is half an hour, with the first ten mintues dedicated to hypnotic drum patterns over a droning guitar. The last song is a Sunn O))) riff turned into an entirely new song. I got it on cd. One of the best slow heavy albums I've heard in a long long time. Obviously if you like any of the bands those guys are involved with, you'll probably like it anyways.

Bartender 03-28-2005 10:06 AM

Is Stephen O'Malley in High on Fire, or am I really confused?

SSSnake... 03-28-2005 10:12 AM

Stephen's the mastermind behind Sunn O))). He also play's guitar in Khanate, was in Burning Witch and Thorr's Hammer before that. A modern day legend to me.

Lee was in Napalm and Cathedral

Greg, guy that put together Goatsnake. Also plays bass (I think) for Khanate and Sunn O))), and Burning Witch

Justin Greaves was the drummer of Iron Monkey. He's now gone on to be the replacement skinsman for Electric Wizard.

Bartender 03-28-2005 10:16 AM

Oh okay. Now I don't know who the guy in High on Fire is though.

SSSnake... 03-28-2005 10:19 AM

Lawlz Bartender. You might be thinking of Mike Pike, who does vocals for High on Fire.

Jondur 03-29-2005 02:46 AM

Well last night I saw Reverend Bizarre. This means that I am better than you. And at one point I was going to sound check with them as their drummer had gone awol! Unfortunately he turned up. I was well warmed up to do DoomSower!
