Paul Reed Smith methinks. Custom 22 if i remember correctly...
..but he uses a fender telecaster sometimes, depending on tuning i think. |
He used to use PRS's but now he uses a Fender Jazzmaster(I think).
I know it's some variety of fender he mainly uses now. |
Ok thanks, Ive always wanted to know. Its a very nice guitar IMO
|
This is his old setup which he used until ACLOTM. Now he uses some variety of Fender(as I said) and a Marshall Plexi head.
|
Thats a great pedal set up.
|
Yeah, it's a Jazzmaster though he used many recording ACLOTM.
|
I think he used a Les Paul for one of the songs on ACLOTM. Maybe Talk shows on mute? He uses a jazzmaster mainly now through a marshall plexi and a vox AC-30 i think. He uses a telecaster sometimes, too.
The last 3 albums were the best music they have ever written.
Gotta disagree with that. I still think SCIENCE is their best album, and no, I'm not one of the really old-school Incubus fans that hate their new stuff. I love ACLOTM and Make Yourself, but I think Morning View is probably their weakest overall effort. IMO, about half the album is pretty **** good - Just a Phase, Under My Umbrella, and Aqueous Transmission are all fantastic and some of their best work. Circles, 11AM, Mexico, and Have You Ever are all solid too. But the rest of the album does nothing for me.....I think Warning is one of the worst songs they've ever done, Nice To Know You is too generic-sounding, if that makes any sense...I like the verses in Wish You Were Here, but I hate the chorus....Echo's terrible (minus the Asian-sounding solo), and Blood on the Ground is just forgettable. Just my opinion, of course, but I just don't think it's even close to their best work. I've got big hopes for the new album, that's for **** sure. I'm really hoping they say fvck pleasing their label and just go nuts. I want to see stuff along the lines of Sick, Sad Little World and The Odyssey....lots of jamming, excellent instrumental stuff.....I'm really interested to see what Ben does on the new album. Anyone who's seen him live knows that he was clearly holding back a bit on ACLOTM (normal for a new member). I'd love to see some dual guitar action w/him and Mike too...anyone who's heard his solo album knows why. |
I'm just happy he's not using one guitar for everything anymore. *eyes his old PRS*
|
He had multiple PRS's, they just all looked similar.
|
same deal.
On the topic of Warning (which we weren't) does anyone understand the video at all? |
I think that in terms of guitar playing, Make Yourself and Morning View are not as insteresting as SCIENCE and ACLOTM. Even Mike himself said on an interview (sorry, canīt remember where I read this) that he felt bored as a guitarist, although he loved MY and MV because of the songwriting. The songwriting has improved a lot since MY. Donīt get me wrong, I love MY and MV, and so does Incubus, but I feel like not only the guitar performance has improved, but the band as a whole.
same deal.

Seriously ... the song isn't horrible but it isn't Incubus' best song... i personally thought the music video was well done and Remedy is right about what its about cuz it is somewhat obvious .... TtyaL .... |
When I saw Incubus in concert in Sept., Brandon, Ben and Jose did this 3 part Drum Solo...it was really bad ***! Do they do this in every show?
I don't know...to tell you the truth, I haven't listened enough of Incubus. I really like Morning View and Make Yourself, but they are the only ones I own. I have listened to the other ones, but I really like the songs on Morning View. More poppy of their albums, but its probably my favorite so far. Incubus is a band I haven't fully dived into yet, but they are something I have been meaning to get into. |

.... TtyaL ....
Warning is a good song off the album, but again, I dont think its their best...I really liked the harmonies on it, to me, its the strongest and best part of the song. Lyrics in the verses are cool, I love the line "We'd make millions writing books on the way it should have been" |
I always like it when Mike and Brandon do a chorus together or a parts of a verse. If you listen to the song Stellar you can hear Mike singing along with Brandon on the second verse.

*listens* Ahhh! They harmonize really well anyway, I think their harmonies are one of Incubus' strong points |
I prefer when Ben and Brandon sing together.
|
I would like to know some songs that shows that.
|
The acoustic version of ACLOTM at the end of the bridge. The end of the bridge in Agoraphobia. The piano remix of Drive. Pantomime. There's a lot of stuff.
|
Oh ok thanks
|
Well the video for Warning is so dumb it confused me.
Shut up. |
I just got into them the beginning of this year, i like their earlier stuff the best. S.C.I.E.N.C.E is amazing.
For those people who don't like the guitar, I suggest listening to the bass it tends to take the lead. |
The bass has always been upfront, which I like, being a bassist. Some of the most fun songs to play on bass are Incubus tracks.

Yea they are really d@mn awesome!! |
It's refreshing to see a guitarist as original as him, who doesn't just rely on power chords constantly.
|
Well the only reason i admire him as a guitarist, Is the way he uses effects. There are some great guitarists that have riffs mostly with effects. Like Tom Morello and Adam Jones, But he stands out alot.
|
Yeah, his effects use is pretty rocking. Of course it helps when you're surrounded by such a talented band.
