I always thought in general that The White Album would've been better if they'd cut it down to one disc.
Yeah, but they said they had too many songs for just one album, and I think the White Album is perfect the way it is. |
Surprised no one mentioned Revolution 9. Anyone who actually enjoys listening to it on a regular basis is either a liar or on acid. Honestly. Like, occasionally when i'm in a really weird mood I'll listen to it, but honestly, that thing is creepy.
I just skip it when it comes on. |

Same I like it with all of the songsd on it.:) |
I tend to forget about the second disc though
I just dug it out the other day. |
In retrospect, Ringo thought that the two White Album records should have been released as two different albums, sarcastically refering to them as the "White and Whiter Albums". He might have been right from an economic standpoint, but I like the White Album as it is.

That was Ringo who said that. It was Ringo's joke. |

Sorry, you're right, I should have checked that before I posted |

It's ok, I just remembered Ringo saying that on the Anthology DVD. Ok, which Beatles album is the best in basically summarizing all the Beatles' talents? |
Abbey road. That album has alot of input from each of the four.

Ok, which Beatles album is the best in basically summarizing all the Beatles' talents?
Probably their last few albums. Just because they basically stopped writing and playing together, it was like four people got together to do one solo album between them. i dont know if this has been mentioned...but in my Rock And Roll book (bio on rock history), i am on the chapter about The Beatles. It mentioned that in 1964 Bob Dylan offered The Beatles their first joint when he met them (or they met him, depends how you look at it). They said that within a year, they were basically smoking it everyday for breakfast. do you think this was for the better, worse? or did it really not make a different? Do you think they would have taken the direction they decided to take in terms of songwriting whether they did drugs or not? |
I agree Abbey Road is the most revealing of their individual talents. As for the toking...
I definitely think it influenced them. I think they would have been creative no matter what, but the whole psychedelic nature of the 60's was largely influenced by drug use. I don't think some of the stuff (especially the eastern/hindu influence) would have come into play without drugs. |
Dude i just stumbled onto this thread thank god....
Heres something for you to ponder. Put in Abbey Road and play "She came in through the Bathroom window" When Paul starts singing the line "She said she's always been a dancer" Make sure to listen to that awsome bass riff. I love that riff. It rocks! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: |
I love the bass on Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
|
Paul McCartney always had the greatest "hidden" bass-lines in his songs, especially Hello, Goodbye and, of course, Come Together.
|
I love the song Helter Skelter, it always reminds me of Sound Garden.... plus it sounds like a metal song, and I would consider it one of the earliest metal songs.

that's true. most people just looked at his lyrics, not his bass. he was pretty talented at coming up with good bass lines. he capture the essence of what bass guitar offered psychadelic music. |

Paul is a good bassist, in the scense the his bass lines were original and perfestly match the songs.
I just saw a canon commercial with some singing "Across the Univers" in the background. |

Dont worry, his child lawsuits will force him to sell the rights if he gets sued. |
That is what I have heard. I bet Paul is happy.
|
That is what I have heard. I bet Paul is happy.
He should be, Michael Jackson had no right to buy those rights. The Beatles should rightfully own their own songs. |
Michael out bid Paul, waht can ya do?
They used to be friends until that happened. |
Michael out bid Paul, waht can ya do?
