I went to a thrift store the other day and bought 5 great records for $7.50 CDN, pretty much like new:
Rush - 2112
Yes - 90125
Sanana - Santana
BTO - Not Fragile
Steve Martin - Let's Get Small

I'm so glad I went...

RageD 03-26-2004 10:29 PM

Yeah they're all great. Took me a looong time to find em though, looking thru all those bins...
I really like the steve martin record, some hilarious stuff on there

BludgeonySteve 03-26-2004 11:34 PM

So who's going to that Van Halen tour? They aren't coming near Calgary but i'll probably drive somewhere else to see them. I would do anything to see them before they finally quit.

RockAndRoll 03-27-2004 12:04 AM

Someone mentioned supertramp a while back, and they're amazing, i've heard they put on great live shows too, i like the diversity the bring to their sound with different instruments, along with groups like tull. It's really shame supertramp is not better known(tull too).

Badmoon 03-27-2004 10:43 AM

^ I believe that you know all of this, but it is kind of unfair being that this is not a live chat, so there is a huge possibility that you looked all that information up on a website.

Actually Jethro Tull is pretty widely known. I'm pretty sure if you go up to any middle aged person on the street and ask them who they are, they'll known. That may go for younger people too, even if they don't know a song.

Yeah, Jethro Tull were very big back in the day, and literally every person in my family loves them. It's too bad they're only really known for two songs (which are "aqualung" and "Locomotive Breath"). Great band.
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?

o and for u classic rock fans, the crime of the new century was that the Yardbirds new CD, Birdland, recieved no attention at all. that deserved a grammy, or 6.

so are there any other classic rock fans out there, and even if ur not, have u been noticing somewhat of a revival in interest for that sort of music?
classic rock > all new music
period

FrailandBedazzled1979 03-27-2004 03:11 PM

classic rock > all music in general

I listen to more classic rock than anything, even power metal! lol

pearljamaddict 03-27-2004 04:40 PM

I love Lynard Skynard and AC/DC, they're pretty cool. I like Aerosmith too, but I hate to admit that i'm pretty ignorant when it comes to classic rock, I've only started to get into them. Lynard Skynard were the first classic rock band I heard, and they are cool.

SimpleMTS 03-27-2004 06:22 PM

There was a song on a classic rock radio station with lyrics of "sometimes i gotta get high, sometimes i gotta get low" and also "c'mon baby"

Basically those are the only lyrics i remember and its got a reaaaally long guitar solo with some delay effects so it sounds kind of trippy.

Anyone got any ideas on what song this is?

VoodooChild 03-27-2004 09:17 PM
I love Lynard Skynard
It's actually Lynyrd Skynyrd.

SimpleMTS: Hmmm, that could be hundreds of different songs. What genre was it and what did it sound like in general?

BludgeonySteve 03-27-2004 09:21 PM

How do you pronunce that anyway?

Badmoon 03-27-2004 09:22 PM
^ Are you serious
Yeah :(

Badmoon 03-27-2004 09:32 PM

It is just they had the pronunciation of the name as one of their album titles.

HAHAHAH That reminds me. When I first heard of Lynyrd Skynyrd I was saying it like this: Lie-nard Sky-nard. Good times.

No, that wasn't funny. That was his opinion. Frail's got a fückload more respect than you on these forums, so don't be a smartarse.

You act like these forums are some kind of caste system. I don't care how much more others like him, and I'm hoping Rock not Roll feels the same way. It's suck ups like you that make these forums an unkind place.

Well, then yes. You probably are correct then.

You do know that I was being sarcastic and imitating the kinds of arrogant powermetal fans that we have on this board. Right?

LukedaDuke99 03-28-2004 08:25 PM
I've noticed kicks only liking popular and well known Classic Rock bands, like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, ect... .
Probably the reason why they are listening to it is because it is so popular... you can't really ask for more from them, because modern music has really changed from classic music, and i think some of the lesser known classic rock bands are too different than modren music to appeal to them...
