limpbizkit... sounds cool... but it is really stupid

isthatyourcabbage 05-12-2004 06:08 AM

i can't believe nobody's mentioned nerf herder in this.... let alone zz top - surely these are contenders...

as for the blink 182 debate... i read someone said they weren't sued... i believe there is an Irish techno band that went by the name blink, and who threatened them with legal action, so they added the 182. Several reasons are there for the 182 - 1)the ideal weight 2)the scarface f***'s 3)no reason at all.

I can put to rest the birthday month thing - mark hoppus was born in March - which is the 3rd month...

and yes I'm a fan...
no band sued blink 182 they seen a movie that said **** 182 times pal and it blinked it out so they named there band blink 182
And yes, a band actually did sue Blink 182 (formerly Blink) for having the same name. Know your facts before you claim to be that big of a fan.

Led Zeppelin? why is that weird? The "Zeppelin" was a german blimp, and it fell like lead from the sky. Duh

bob_the_killer_62 06-03-2004 01:24 PM

i'd say a local band called "The Urban Monkeys" is kind of weird

iceman3019 06-03-2004 11:46 PM

a retarded band name would be thursday. naming a band after a day of the week is nothing but pure stupidity at its height.

superawesome88 06-03-2004 11:56 PM

Finger eleven, the meat puppets, AFI, presidentys of the US, The The,

and Witch Hazel....they stole the band name ive wanted for YEARS

ISukAtEverything 06-04-2004 12:04 AM

LOL, my band...me and my friends like Ska, but ska kind of went dead like 4 yrs ago, haha, so we made a Metal/Ska band, we call it Aluminum, ahaha, I know, we are stupid, I didn't say we weren't...LOL. Anyway, the name of our band is, The Christmas Buttons...yeah, I think that qualifies as weird...

Led Zeppelin came from when Keith Moon (I think) said the band would go down like a blimp made of led or something like that.
Blink 182 and Sum 41... what the hell is the meaning behind those names?
the meaning behind Sum 41 is that they started the band 41 days into the summer

and it has been rumored that blink 182 is named that because blink was the name of tom's neighbors dog and in the movie scarface they say the "F" word a total of 182 times no one is sure if this is true though

They were orignally named Blink. There was another band named Blink, so Blink got pissed that Blink stole their name, and Blink threatened legal action on Blink or something. That's when the whole 182 thing came in for Blink.

Deifekt 06-04-2004 06:26 PM
i dont get system of a down, pink floyde, but led zeppelin was named after the guys' gym teacher
Wrong. Lynyrd Skynyrd was originally named Leonard Skinnard (I think that's how his name was spelt) after Leonard Skinnard, their gym coach. They later changed it 2-3 times and ended up with Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Led Zeppelin came from, as rock not roll stated, Keith Moon saying Jimmy Page's new band would go up like a lead zeppelin. Obviously a lead zeppelin won't go up, but the band did indeed succeed. :D

Big_ol_claypool_fan 06-04-2004 07:15 PM
