i don't know if i'm able to explain the issue so that you will understand. its my new jackson:
the low e-string is pretty near the edge of the fretboard. when i press the low e-string and the e-string will move a little bit (when playing a little bit sloppy [making a minibending] or an vibrato) i slip off the fretboard with the string. i had to play very carefully.
i paid attention to the whole fretboard and realized that on the low e-string i have too little space and on the high e-string a lot (so its easier to play pull-offs)

is this normal? my guitar teacher can't imagine that this is a production-mistake, but i remember that a friend had the same on his 900€ Ibanez guitar.

It's not a problem if you can learn to control it. When I got my Ibanez, I kept pulling the high E string off the neck 'cause it was alot closer to the edge but now I never do, it just takes time. You won't notice in a month.

repcak 07-27-2006 05:28 PM

thats what happens to me while playing on my ibanez and doing pull offs on the high e-string. if i don't pay attention i slip off the fretboard.

my friend who had/has the same problem still use the guitar and knows how to control it... its not impossible but, well its just stupid. right now it happens far too often.

i have an explanation for this: the action is much lower so i don't have to press my fingertips as much as i was used on my ibanez and therefor i use more strength - more strength -> less control -> slips off

/me hates his english
/me has to improve the english language

MRDuCran 07-27-2006 05:45 PM

Well as I said, all it takes is time. Just get used to it for a while and it'll go away.

Prince Charming 07-27-2006 05:49 PM

Same with ESP. It's a 599 new without megadeth signed. It's not an issue since I have an odd angle of fretting anyways. but yeah. It's just something to learn with.
Yeah, although Alexi looks more feminine then she does.
This is true.

@ Mike, Yeah. We'd need to see bottomless pix to tell and we prolly don't want to see those.

How does being married to Kim Goss prove you're not gay? If anything, it'd be a case to say you went gay.

repcak 07-27-2006 05:52 PM

i posted the issue in the guitar forum and a guy posted this link:
http://www.jemsite.com/tech/3other.htm#neckpocket

but to be honest i couldn't understand anything - how to fix it...

MRDuCran 07-27-2006 06:00 PM

Post a pic of the nut so we can tell.

That link tells you exactly how to fix it. Can you not understand it because of the English? It outlines the repairing process really well.

@LostChild: what guitar do you have?

can someone say if my nut is ok? or do you need better photos?

the digitech rp-80 has so many effects and function... wow... don't know where to begin  only the drum-machine is a disappointing, cause i thought it would be kind of a metronome, but it isn't.
and right now my dad is playing on my jackson... but he doesn't like distortion , so he plays clean ... ;)
