Flaming Lips - At War With the Mystics

Why oh why do more people not love this record.
It owns Yoshimi so hard, yet people don't seem to think it's anything special.

Different Damage - Q and not U

This is better than No Kill No Beep Beep but only just.

And I - Meshuggah.

Electrocution 12-02-2006 08:45 PM

Listening to Sleep's Dopesmoker right now. I dig on this album so hard...I never realized that it was actually a posthumous release.

...Does anyone know if they actually had any religious beliefs? Dopesmoker is full of religious imagery, and one of the founding members (Justin Marler) quit the band to become a monk...but Matt Pike also formed High on Fire, who don't strike me as being the same way at all.
The Girl is Mine is so bad that it's good. Can you imagine Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson really fighting? hahah
it's ok. nothing too special though.

Camper Van Beethoven - Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart

I used to listen to this album as a kid because my dad loves them, but I really have not heard it in years. I was inspired to track it down because "she divines water" came up on random play, and I remembered how much I loved it. I couldn't find the disc in my house, though.

Soon I'll also be listening to the album "Key Lime Pie"

Fujiya and Miyagi - Transparent Things

Just hearing this for the first time, it's tight.

asymm 12-03-2006 03:47 PM
Hey asymm, is any of Susanna and the Magical Orchestra's stuff worth checking out? I liked her song on that comp, too, meant to ask about that.
Definitely. Especially since you enjoyed their contribution to the compilation, you'll really appreciate the full lengths. They have two records, the first being List of Lights and Buoys and the second is a record of covers, Melody Mountain. The covers record has things by Kiss, Joy Division, AC/DC, Depeche Mode, Dylan, Prince, Leonard Cohen, and Scott Walker. You can't go wrong with either.

I've been in an emo/screamo kinda mood today, so I've dug a bunch of emo/screamo records.

DJ Shadow - Endtroducing...

For some reason, I've never listened to this album before. Bu thank god, someone uploaded it onto the Alt/Indie mailing list, and I uploaded it. It's mind-blowing! I don't think I've ever heard music like this before, and I gotsta say, I love it.

Kayetan 12-03-2006 05:47 PM

Quit making stuff up, Mote. I'm sick of it.

asymm 12-03-2006 05:48 PM

it's the normal version but extended to 25 minutes

_Mote_ 12-03-2006 07:04 PM

Eliminator, if you are so anti-Sonic Youth, how come you know all of these random facts about them, and list 'Or' as one of your favorite non-singles for the year?

As for me, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots - Flaming Lips. I take my previous statement back, Yoshimi > Mystics.

Eliminator 12-03-2006 07:06 PM

because i run this ****in town

_Mote_ 12-03-2006 07:08 PM
