AMPSIM, haha. It's just a stock plugin for Cakewalk programs, but it's pretty cool. Didn't know I had it until just now.

Cool, I've just been micing amps for all of my guitar tracks but would like to go direct into my Firepod too and I don't know of any amp sims.

Most of the really good amp simulators come stock with the major DAWs: Cakewalk (Sonar, Music Creator), Logic Pro, ProTools, etc. Though I think WAVES makes one...it's probably pretty pricey.

Any others are kinda crappy.

You can use an amp sim on a mic'd guitar, you do know that, right? You don't necessarily have to go direct as well.

Duh, I'm dumb. Actually no I didn't. What I would like to do though is do one track miced and another DI'ed then to an amp sim. I have SX3 so I'll check the plugins that I have.

Yea, it's just a matter of how much you want to change your tone. What you want to do is pretty standard; I was just letting you know you don't have to do that.

I'm actually thinking about using my amp sim on my distorted guitar tracks to make it even more fizzy and more black metal-ish.
