At the time back in the 80s, they can also be considered slightly progressive, not to insane amounts obviously, but their music was unlike most bands.

Oh yeah, Frayed Ends of Sanity is one wicked song. Tons of little weird harmonies and little quick riffs here and there. :thumb: I love that song.

I don't think it did, because the mainstream stuff was all that glam metal stuff and metallica was pretty much an unknown band. It probably didn't sell too well at the beginning, but then started getting momonetum, and started to sell some copies, which lead to their second album, which probably did much better because they were more known.

In the 80s, pop was manufactured because people didn't want people listening to metal. Thrash wasn't known until later in the 80s.

Yesterday I was trying to say this about the people bashing Kirk and James in the guitar polls when gocaps was defending them, but I couldn't get it out right. This guy said it [i]just[/i] right.

me too. I don't think they butchered any of the songs, I think on some of the songs they made it better than the original

Thats the only song most people have heard and thats why alot dont like them because they havent heard any other songs that enter sandman.

i hate the black album, it annoys the hell out of me.
Yeah i prefer St Anger to Load and Re-Load in the most part, dirty window is a really good song.
