Illmatic 08-14-2005 12:56 PM

It was hot as hell AGAIN last night when I tried to sleep.

As a result, I didn't fall asleep til 6:30.

As a result of that, I just woke up 25 minutes ago.

Cain 08-14-2005 01:02 PM

Sup guys. Just made the first of my threads on New Age/Celtic artists that I was talking about doing a while back. I refrained from coming up with a snappy Cain-related title, however, due to the immense number of series threads in progress at the moment. Anyways, if you're interested, check it out.

Lucas, your avatar is the best ever.

/me goes to read Lucas' thread

You crazy farmboys.

Man, I could never imagine waking up at 6:30 am. That's nuts.

NP: Massive Attack - Teardrop

RCA 08-14-2005 01:13 PM

I've gotta wake up at 6:30 due to school scheduling.

Kage 08-14-2005 01:13 PM

I haven't woken up before noon in the past 2 and a half months. Or gone to bed before 4.

Lunch 08-14-2005 01:16 PM

During the school year I wake up at around 6, but in the summer I usually sleep past 12.

Kage 08-14-2005 01:17 PM

Yep; School starts tomorow for me. :-/

Illmatic 08-14-2005 01:18 PM

Even in high school I really only had to wake up at 7:30 or so (school started at 7:55 and it takes me 15 minutes or so to shower, shave, and get dressed and my house is like, a five minute drive from the school).

In college very few of my classes start before 10 or 11 am.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-14-2005 01:19 PM

The sad part: I have to get up even earlier because I'm taking a zero hour AP chemistry class at 6:50. If it takes half an hour to get there, and half an hour to eat/shower/etc...That means I get up at 5:50. :upset:

Oh. Shi.

RCA 08-14-2005 01:19 PM
Yep; School starts tomorow for me. :-/
What grade/year will you be entering?

Kage 08-14-2005 01:21 PM

Junior in high school. Jake, that really sucks, man.

Lunch 08-14-2005 01:22 PM

I don't start school until the 29th, but I have to finish reading Wuthering Heights (horrible) and do some art projects for summer assignments.

I'll be a senior though.

I'm taking AP English, AP Calc, AP Economics, AP Art(harder than it sounds), and AP Computer Science this year.

Oh, man. AP chem is death. Especially that early.

what is it?

Kage 08-14-2005 01:25 PM

I've got a really easy schedule this year. But then I also have to do the SAT and things like that.

It's cool because I have two recurring teachers every year, for German and Journalism, that are my favorite teachers I've ever had.

Advanced Placement Chemistry.

AP is like two steps above Honors classes, and Chemistry is possibly the hardest class you take in highschool, or atleast at mine.

Kage 08-14-2005 01:27 PM

I took Honors chemistry. It was really easy, I cruised by with a high A the whole year.

Illmatic 08-14-2005 01:28 PM

AP classes are generally college-level classes.

I was never motivated enough to take them in high school.

I think I got a B-minus or a B in regular chemistry. Science and math are not my forte.

Otherside 08-14-2005 01:29 PM

Hmph, maybe it's just my school, but everyone I've talked to says it was their hardest class they ever took, but then again, we really do have horrible science teachers.

Stoic 08-14-2005 01:29 PM

What is the advantage of taking such a high level class then?

Kage 08-14-2005 01:30 PM

AP Calc will be really hard. I've heard that that's the hardest class I'll have to take. I also took AP World History last year, and somehow managed an A without studying.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-14-2005 01:30 PM

Here's my schedule:

0. AP Chem
1. AP Chem
2. AP Composition
3. Spanish dos(lozl)
4. American Government
Lunch
5. Drama II
6. Free period, w00t

Oh, and I don't have math this year! :fistpump:

EDIT: Kage, did you get the college credit for APWH?

Man, my morning is going to suck! :( I have 1 class in the afternoon, wtf@that

Otherside 08-14-2005 01:30 PM
What is the advantage of taking such a high level class then?
You can get up to a 6.0 GPA if you take alot of them. Also, they count as college credits, I think 2 AP classes = 1 credit.

Illmatic 08-14-2005 01:30 PM
What is the advantage of taking such a high level class then?
I think if you do well in them, then they count as credits for whatever college you go to. Or something like that. I explained it poorly.

Lunch 08-14-2005 01:31 PM

If you take the AP test at the end of the year and score well enough, many colleges give you credit for that course. You can earn a good deal of college credits early and save money on college.

Plus a C or above gives you another whole point on the weighted GPA for that class.

Otherside 08-14-2005 01:31 PM

I don't have my schedule yet, but my classes will be:

AP US History
AP ENG 11
Honors Algebra II
Computer Engineering II
Spanish II
Possibly honors Chemistry

Illmatic 08-14-2005 01:34 PM

Wow, so many honors and AP classes.

I did not take that many honors and AP classes in high school

/feels like a dummy

To be honest, alot of it has to do with my girlfriend, she's really pressuring me to get into the higher level classes, as she is in the IB program, which is arguably even more prestigious than AP. She has a photographic memory though, so not many classes give her a challenge.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-14-2005 01:37 PM

What the hell, you're taking AP Calculus as a junior? You can't even do that at my school.

We don't have German either.

And the physics teacher is the ugliest, coldest bitch ever to walk the face of the earth, therefore, I won't be able to take that either. :p

Even so, it's not like you can just sign up for AP classes.

Kage 08-14-2005 01:40 PM

When I lived in Singapore, everyone was ahead a year from the US public school system in math. And I was a year ahead of that. Thus, when I got back to the US, I was two years ahead. Heh.

You're a junior, too, right Jake? At my school, you can't have a free period as a junior, unless you either take a Mentor class or a dual-credit class.

Otherside 08-14-2005 01:41 PM
Even so, it's not like you can just sign up for AP classes.
At my school all you have to do is get your teacher's signature and your good to go, and my teachers were basically just giving them away. Not sure if that's how it works at other schools :\

RCA 08-14-2005 01:43 PM

My schedule looks like this:

Spanish 1 (failed it last year :( )
AP US History
AP Chemistry
English III
Health
JROTC III
AP Trigonometry
AP Art 2A

(I'm a junior in HS as well)

Yeah, it was kinda like that at my school, but teachers were more stingy in giving them away.

I was lazy as hell so I didn't even want to take AP classes, so I guess it all evens out.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-14-2005 01:47 PM

Kage, I'm still taking a full schedule, because I start an hour earlier. I could still have a free period if I wanted to though. What were you doing in Singapore?

Freak, RCA, you have a crapload of classes. :amaze:
