arrested development was amazing.

never seen jersey shore and refuse to watch it.

arrested development is one of my favorites. along with friends, dexter, the sopranos, weeds, and parks and recreation....hahaha

blockhead 01-07-2011 03:27 PM

tv is the electronic devil

illmitch 01-07-2011 03:27 PM

tv is for mindless zombies but comic books are intellectually stimulating

blockhead 01-07-2011 03:28 PM

tv is pretty much for people that are too stupid to read books

HighandDriving 01-07-2011 03:28 PM
I think clay just wanted to see something depraved because he was so desensitized that he didn't feel much other than extremes. idk i don't think it was about the money
Ya but after that part with Julian he gets rly fucked up about the snuff film and the underage sex slave. If he really was so desensitized then he wouldn't have been appalled later on.

Read Imperial Bedrooms and you will see a truly desensitized and monstrous Clay.

publicastration 01-07-2011 03:28 PM

there are a lot of great, intelligent tv shows you just have to dig through the shit

blockhead 01-07-2011 03:28 PM

comic books are pretty mindless too, not quite as bad but i'm not saying they're intellectual at all

burtreynolds 01-07-2011 03:28 PM
there are a lot of great, intelligent tv shows you just have to dig through the shit
dexter is one of them. so so so good.

publicastration 01-07-2011 03:29 PM

dexter USED to be good

burtreynolds 01-07-2011 03:30 PM

i still havent caught up on season 5 yet...on like episode 4 i think...

I guess that's true. maybe it was because the snuff film "appeared real" and the underage rape part was after all rape and the girl was 12. i guess those were just even more extreme than he was able to handle. julian did prostitute himself but he was an adult and knew what he was doing. idk i still don't think it was all about the money he owed him.

i got a torrent of all his books a few weeks ago i might read some more of them idk. i have some other stuff i wanted to read. less than zero was okay but i wasnt' that impressed with it

blockhead 01-07-2011 03:31 PM

season 1 and 2 of dexter were good. deb is an awful character though and she's ugly as hell. the show is entertaining but it's not like really "smart" or any thing. it's just a tv show about a serial killer. it's pretty cliche in and of itself

adb 01-07-2011 03:32 PM
there are a lot of great, intelligent tv shows you just have to dig through the shit
dont care

blockhead 01-07-2011 03:34 PM

mitch how are you going to defend tv when you watch jersey shore? you like some good punk bands but you like a whole bunch of low brow garbage

burtreynolds 01-07-2011 03:36 PM
the show is entertaining but it's not like really "smart" or any thing.
not really smart but it makes your mind think....suspense i guess

publicastration 01-07-2011 03:36 PM

Watch Rome. hands down one of the best tv dramas

blockhead 01-07-2011 03:37 PM

i don't enjoy watching tv in general. i don't want to find good tv i would rather just read a book

HighandDriving 01-07-2011 03:37 PM

What's amazing about LTZ was that he wrote it at such a young age and it was the basis of a long - not so much plentiful - critically acclaimed career.

American Psycho, Glamorama, Lunar Park, and Imperial Bedrooms are all great books.

burtreynolds 01-07-2011 03:37 PM

same here. i just netflix here and there.

illmitch 01-07-2011 03:38 PM
mitch how are you going to defend tv when you watch jersey shore? you like some good punk bands but you like a whole bunch of low brow garbage
it's entertaining and i like it

what's there to defend?

blockhead 01-07-2011 03:38 PM

you were trying to act like it isn't mindless drivel

HighandDriving 01-07-2011 03:38 PM

Jersey Shore is hilarious.

It's like the Friends of our time.

publicastration 01-07-2011 03:40 PM

Jim Carroll wrote the basketball diaries when he was 12 to 16 and it's really well written. I might read american psycho some time. I saw the movie a few years ago.

95% of it is trash

burtreynolds 01-07-2011 03:41 PM

jersey shore is nothing like friends...if anything is like the friends of our time it would be how i met your mother.

never compare that pos show to one of the best shows ever

publicastration 01-07-2011 03:41 PM

yeah

no one is saying it isn't

illmitch 01-07-2011 03:41 PM
you were trying to act like it isn't mindless drivel
when did i say the jersey shore wasnt mindless drivel

i don't get why you try to come across as some intellectual and dismiss other things for being "not intellectually stimulating"

blockhead 01-07-2011 03:42 PM

i'm not an intellectual lol. it's not that i like really intellectual things it's that the majority of tv is offensively stupid. things don't need to be really high brow for me to like them but i don't like mindless trash aimed at the lowest common denominator either

nevertoolate 01-07-2011 03:43 PM

American Psycho is excellent

illmitch 01-07-2011 03:43 PM

anyway i dont have time to participate in another dumb argument with you as i have to go to work
i'm not an intellectual lol. it's not that i like really intellectual things it's that the majority of tv is offensively stupid
watch Rome and tell me it's a stupid show

HighandDriving 01-07-2011 03:44 PM

I don't think he wrote it when he was that young, pretty sure it just took account of that period of his life.

American Psycho is original as fuck and both hilarious and sickening at the same time.

blockhead 01-07-2011 03:44 PM

it basically comes down to: i get bored just sitting and watching something. I would rather read a book, they keep my attention a lot better and i get more interested. i just prefer to read. deal with it

blockhead 01-07-2011 03:45 PM

he def wrote it when he was that young. it's hard to believe but it's true

The Basketball Diaries is a 1978 memoir written by author and musician Jim Carroll. It is an edited collection of the diaries he kept between the ages of twelve and sixteen.

HighandDriving 01-07-2011 03:49 PM

I bet it's highly, highly edited.

blockhead 01-07-2011 03:51 PM

idk it's a good possibility it's heavily edited. forced entries is pretty good too, but it's not as entertaining. i still read it though. some of it kind of dragged

adb 01-07-2011 04:05 PM

bottom line is I don't give a shit about plots or storylines in any enterntainment medium

they dont' appeal to me

I would rather read elim/alex posts
