There's so many better songs. That song is just wah abuse....
I disagree, it's not just wah abuse, it is a very good solo
that kirk uses the wah in, cause the wah is like his
signature sound, that and his brilliant use of double stops

although he does use it quite extensivaly at times

but I woulda killed for a good wah solo when I first
heard St. Anger

Jev 09-15-2005 11:35 AM

Nah he uses wah way to much. He's been using it since the RTL album (obviously not on every solo).

Chu 09-15-2005 11:40 AM

Meh, he should get a new signature.
His wah abuse is just old and boring to me.

Britton 09-15-2005 11:53 AM

okay fair enough

is there anything new in the vault?

Jev 09-15-2005 12:03 PM

Dunno haven't been on any Met site in a few months.

Britton 09-15-2005 12:22 PM

neither have I, I get emails about sale's in the store
but it's something like a jersey that says Metallica on it
and they want like 75 bucks for it? what's wrong with you lars?

Jev 09-15-2005 12:26 PM

Lars <3's money. That's why Metallica make $35,000,000 a year.

Britton 09-15-2005 12:31 PM

yea lol

what have they sold? something like 75 million albums?

I don't think that can be right but I heard some one say it once

Jev 09-15-2005 12:38 PM

90,000,000 albums.

Britton 09-15-2005 03:08 PM

Okay yep that sounds better.

what was the Black album? like 22 or 25?

Quickdrop 09-15-2005 03:40 PM
Your opinion is wrong simply because Metallica wanted to make St. Anger and they wanted to make ReLoad. If they didn't want to make them the way they were made, they wouldn't have. It's as simple as that. They don't let their fans dictate what they do. Case in point: Lars with Napster.
First of all, an opinion is an opinion, its neither wrong or right. Secondly, i said in my opinion i wouldn't have released those albums because they simply weren't at the level of all the preceeding albums, the songs just werent constructed as well. Lastly, where did i say metallica bases their decisions off what fans want? I didnt.

Huber 09-15-2005 03:48 PM

Enter Sandman is just way to overplayed. Too bad realy, because it's a good song, I just don't want to listen to it because I've heard it so many times.
why they even decided to release St. Anger and Reload. They've sucked, not even close to living up to the standards that the fans have for them
hammet_ownz 09-15-2005 10:15 PM
METALLICA'S Best song is enter sandman just listen to the solo.
you are officially an imbocile.

I think the Black Album was more like 11 million.

ThrashMaster27 09-16-2005 01:24 AM

I think 11 milion was the American figure. As far as worldwide, I think it was around 18 million.

Jev 09-16-2005 09:02 AM

Meh Don't know the exact figure but man are those guys rich.

metalhead_matt 09-16-2005 12:14 PM
Okay yep that sounds better.

lightningmetal666 09-16-2005 12:25 PM

What's ^ Matt?

Yeah that album is the most overrated of them all. I like stuff like The God That Failed
and Through The Never but I think I'll go on a killing spree if I hear Enter Sandman just one more time.

 did someone mention wah abuse in the last page?
i idolise kirk, but that song was a different dimension, and that album was when they said farewell to the good old MoP/RTL days :upset:

lightningmetal666 09-16-2005 12:34 PM

Well that's why guys like us gotta bring back stuff like that. All the old school thrashers are gettin' old and a lot more sappy. Pantera was one of the bands trying to bring that back but shit got in the way and the band broke up. We need more bands like that to kill all the emo crap that's on radio and produce some real metal.

I cant beleive how annoyin emos are
yeah, our generation needs to recreate the genre :D I would be happy to help

lightningmetal666 09-16-2005 12:42 PM

I just got an awesome guitar book called Troy Stetina's Thrash Guitar Method, and if fucking rocks!!! It teaches you how to write your own thrash songs, difficult syncopations, every form of E scale (which according to the book is what 90% of thrash is written in.) I haven't had time lately to write but I'm free on Sunday so I'll get started writing some stuff. I found the book on stetina.com if anyone is interested. Another great thing is they show you how to get the perfect thrash tone.

Another interesting thing is that the first riffs they show you COMPLETELY RIP OFF metallica's For Whom The Bell Tolls.

Youve just reminded me of my love for that song on S&M, and for the lars cam on Cunning Stunts (you can change the camera to focus on one person throughout the whole song)

I dont know why I love the drumming so much in that song, its soo simple

metalhead_matt 09-16-2005 12:53 PM

*looks at lightningmetal666s post count*
erm...
lightningmetal, you are feeling very sleepy...
you want to go to bed...

lightningmetal666 09-16-2005 12:53 PM

Yeah on S&M I love the double bass roll that Lars does in the intro. If I ever get in a band (which might be soon as my rep. at the college is growing :) ) I would want to have my drummer push that even further to see what cool shit I can come up with.

Hahaha Matt, It's only noon where I'm at so I don't feel tired at all.

Nice try though. I'll be leaving to get a new amp soon though. Maybe that'll give you time to catch up. ;)

hmmm maybe *ponders*
ya know, Im gonna take it as a challenge not to BEAT you, but to try and stay equal with you :D
Im trying to get a band together aswell, everyone in my music tec group plays an instrument, and they are mainly all guitar players

lightningmetal666 09-16-2005 01:02 PM

In my advanced rock group class (called 'Test Flight') I am really good buddies with the bassist and he gives me rides home and so I want to do a band with him. The only drawback is that he is more into stuff like the chili peppers and funk bass than thrash metal.:upset: He still kicks ass on the bass though. And he is the reason why my rep is going up at the college. Apparently he is a fan of my playing.

good to hear :D if hes a good bassist and hes a fan of your playing, then surely he would like playin with you no matter what music you were playing

But he adds more doublebass into the live performance and it just makes the song that much better, the S&M FWTBT is a perfect example.
