Looking to go into politics? I remember getting some brochures from American about their Poli Sci program being excellent with a number of internships in the government available and the such.

cbmartinez 03-13-2007 08:12 PM

Yeah, this chick at the info session interned with Nancy Pelosi's office her freshman year. The internships are ridiculous. It's like 5 minutes from the city.

whiteminority 03-13-2007 08:22 PM

Damn, that's crazy.

The Great Decay 03-13-2007 10:07 PM

I can't wait for university. After visiting a few over my march break, the girls I know now do not even compare to some of the women I've seen chillin in dorms.

Luxor 03-13-2007 10:14 PM

Where are you thinking of going, Decay?

The Great Decay 03-13-2007 10:17 PM

Waterloo, Western, U of T, or McMaster.

The Great Decay 03-13-2007 10:28 PM

Luxor: What is the hardcore scene like in the T-dot? I know they have a lot of decent indie shows.

No one ever comes to Canada. And even when they do, I don't see them. I haven't been to a punk/harcore show in years because basically I have no friends who are into it anymore.

A lot of good indie-rockish bands come through like you mentioned though. I'm going to see Explosions In The Sky next weekend, should be good.

I don't even live in Toronto though actually, live in Oakville and go to Sheridan.

You're one of those witty types, aren't you.

I meant the age difference, man. I just dig older chicks.

From what I've read there is a pretty decent hardcore scene there. I've listened to a couple of bands, they mostly have the old school hardcore vibe, very punk-y. EITS next weekend? Is that s'hit sold out? I'd love to see them live, it'd be worth the trip.

Luxor 03-14-2007 11:13 AM

Yeah it sold out pretty quick actually.

The Great Decay 03-14-2007 11:14 AM

Bummer.

whiteminority 03-14-2007 11:29 AM

I'm not surprised Explosions have been getting big since that Friday Night Lights deal.

What's up with 29north's shipping prices? $7 shipping for one record... Is it that bad for people in the states?

Matt? 03-14-2007 11:34 AM

i haven't bought anything from lp in a while but i don't think it's that much is it?

The Great Decay 03-14-2007 11:38 AM

Seven dollars for shipping is harsh. It really makes you appreciate soulseek.

Nah, I just ordered the HeWhoCorrupts Discographer 2xLP and the new Navies 7" and it was like $3 and change.

srt-4 03-14-2007 11:46 AM

did you select next day shipping or something?? because otherwise that doesn't sound right. i looked under my account info, and this is what i was charged on my last purchase:

29NORTH RECORDS
Order Date: Tuesday 06 March, 2007
United States Postal Service (13.45lbs) (Media Mail): $7.85

thats for 15 12"s, 2 10"s, and a 7"

Luxor 03-14-2007 11:48 AM

They're charging me $5.50 for surface letter post on one 7". And like I said, $6 or 7$ on an LP.

srt-4 03-14-2007 11:52 AM
Yeah it sold out pretty quick actually.
ya, i just missed them because the show here sold out so fast. they came to some random place that i have never even heard of before. must be some really small bar or something. i don't get it, there are some good venues here that fit a few hundred people.

They're keepin' it indie.

The Great Decay 03-14-2007 12:11 PM

Speaking of distros. are any decent ones based out of Canada?

RCVA 03-14-2007 12:15 PM

That seems a lot. I think i pay about that much to get stuff from American sites to get to Britain.

Still have to pay customs duty though added onto it
Yesterday was awesome! Openers were Black Haven, they could make it big if they want to, and The Black Heart Rebellion which I didn't like. Lots of crowdsurfing and stuff flying around :D Someone threw a cardboard robot-like head at the drummer, he put it on and played a whole song with it (he couldn't see a thing) :p
