Anyone here seen Roger Waters recently? He is touring Australia Feb next year, and I'm interested in knowing how good his show is. Apparently he plays a lot of stuff from DSOTM and The Wall, without touching much else. I may have to go see him if it's not too expensive.

Kingofdudes 10-16-2006 11:55 PM
Why would he do that? Ive always seen Nick as a rather capable drummer.
Because he isnt a capable drummer? Or at least later on he wasnt. As time went on he devoted less and less time to drumming and more time to his side hobbies (racing).

MattSharpIsCool 10-17-2006 12:10 AM

Its true. Nick Mason hardly played on AMLOR.

And lay off "Seamus." So its not a spacey epic song. Its David Gilmour having some fun with his blues roots. That is a pretty cool riff he's playing.

And what the f is arena rock? People always talk about The Who and Rush as arena rock, but I have no clue what it is.

When I went I remember he played this

Solo
Perfect Sense 1&2
Leaving Beirout

PF
Set The Controls
WYWH
SOYCD
Have A Cigar
In The Flesh
Mother
Sheep
Comfortably Numb
Another Brick In The Wall (pt2)
Fletcher Memorial Hope
DSOTM entirely

It's good show :) 2,5/3 hours I think. He's got Snowy White and some other very taltented guitarist with him :) It's worth it

Apocalyptic Raids 10-17-2006 03:07 AM

He played Have A Cigar, awesome.

Jim 10-17-2006 03:22 AM

Holy ****. He's coming to Australia and I didn't hear????

I think it just got warm in my pants...

dUSK 10-17-2006 03:54 AM

Tickets go on sale at the end of the month. Hopefully it doesn't sell out quickly, as I'm broke.

MrSigma 10-17-2006 03:55 AM

i put on the wall and listened to the whole thing in the dark with headphones on. havent done that for while, what a journey.

Apocalyptic Raids 10-17-2006 04:06 AM

hmm, I wonder if I can convince my Dad to buy us tickets.... :D

dUSK 10-17-2006 04:08 AM

That's the spirit! :thumb:

Apocalyptic Raids 10-17-2006 04:10 AM

Jim 10-17-2006 04:33 AM

I'll ****ing pay. Even if it's upwards 4 to 500 bucks. Best seats obviously. Maybe General Admition. This is so excitement! :smash:

rippa32 10-17-2006 05:52 AM

Ill bloody well go, I hope it aint too much.

EDIT: Can anyone tell me what the advantage of pre-sale is? I want to buy as soon as possible to avoid it being sold-out but im not sure what to do here.

Riva 10-17-2006 06:16 AM

Alrighty, I'm going, and I'm organising and R&M Aussie meet for anyone who is going too. The only catch will be I'm organising the meet for Brisbane because I'm a cheap bastard. We'll hash out the details later, but Rippa, Chu and Jono can fly up for the concert, I'm sure. >->

Apocalyptic Raids 10-17-2006 06:57 AM

I would love too, but theres no way I'm going to be able to afford it in time :(:(

dUSK 10-17-2006 08:50 AM

Weak as piss Jono. Weak as piss. :(

:p

I'm gonna ring my Mum when ticket prices come out and beg her to buy me a ticket.

I dunno if you other Aussies have noticed, but fucking hell Australia is getting a crazy amount of international bands at the moment. :amaze:

rippa32 10-17-2006 09:31 AM

Like Deep Purple I was real surprised about that, but didn't decide to go because I wasn't willing to pay $150 for a Deep Purple without Ritchie Blackmore or Jon Lord.

As for the meet I live only an hour and a half away from brisbane so a drive is all I need. However can anyone tell me what this pre sale thingy is?

dUSK 10-17-2006 09:39 AM

It's an online sale before tickets go on sale through actual ticket venders. They are usually a few days before the date of general ticket sales.

Sometimes they have strings attached though, like you need to have a Visa card or something like that. Just register yourself as a member on ticketek at some point and keep an eye on this page over the next week or so.

magicbus 10-17-2006 12:01 PM

Did you guys know Gilmour still played Echoes on his tour?

Dragon_Prince 10-17-2006 01:08 PM
dude i would kill to see him do echoes live
I saw him play Echoes live. Yes I did saw all Pink Floyd members live this year(except for Barret)

AnyColour74 10-17-2006 02:51 PM

sir, you are one lucky bastard

-1up!- 10-17-2006 02:59 PM

I'm seeing Australian Pink Floyd on December 7th. Assured trip.

Dragon_Prince 10-17-2006 03:23 PM

Costed me much, but what can I say I'm a PF lover :P

Montana 10-18-2006 03:50 PM

Damn it! if I had known two weeks ago that Roger Waters was going to be in Seattle October 12th then I would have definitely gone. :(

Jim 10-21-2006 03:42 AM

I'm getting all of my friends to go see Roger with me :p So far I've got four. Some of them don't even like Pink Floyd!

And I just found out my girlfriend's mum has the original Animals on vinyl. And I thought she wasn't cool!

Clunge 10-21-2006 03:55 AM

NP: Echoes

It's raping my senses.

I would have liked to have gone, but not for over 100 bucks. I would expect the entire Floyd, including Barrett for $100+. I got to see Dylan, though, so :).

rippa32 10-21-2006 09:08 PM

Over $100? Dammit, this is looking slightly less appealing.

Jim 10-23-2006 07:11 AM

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I'll ****ing pay!

/is a Roger fanboy

rippa32 10-23-2006 07:38 AM

Okay I have found prices for the syndey show in the ACER arena. Make sure you are sitting down.

The CHEAPEST are $180. And it goes up to $380.

Jim 10-23-2006 08:39 AM

=/

Hmm. Well, that certainly is a little steep.

But I'll pay!

/slightly less enthusiastic

Dragon_Prince 10-23-2006 09:32 AM

Are that normal dollars? That's sick, Roger Waters costed like 70 euro's around here

Hamilcar 10-23-2006 11:04 AM

Wow that's kind of rediculous. I was able to get lawn seats for around $35 American. After all the service charges and whatnot though the total for 4 tickets came to around $200.

Dragon_Prince 10-23-2006 12:25 PM

That isn't that much ;)

Hamilcar 10-23-2006 02:40 PM

Oh I know that's what I'm saying. But still they SHOULD have cost around $140 but instead cost almost $200 because of service fees. I just feel bad for everyone else who seems to have to pay over $100 per ticket...that's just insane.

Montana 10-23-2006 06:47 PM

Gah, that is ludicrous! The Rolling Stones were here a few weeks a go and had prices in the same range. And that was ALL of the Rolling Stones.

I'd still pay to see Roger though.
