What would that matter?
Just a question.

There's a video of Tom talking about what happened that night, as well as a clip of TSR.

Anarcho Poser 08-15-2007 10:13 PM

I heard in an interview somewhere either Tom or Warren saying somehting to the effect of "this isn't going to last forever, so we just want to experience as much as we possibly can while it lasts" Which, to me, is enough of a reason to sign to a major label.

Henrik 08-16-2007 03:50 AM

Though it isn't a good reason to start making shitty music.

That video is the first time I've heard Against Me! them selves actually talking about their choice about changing to a major label and defend it. Usually they kind of ignore the subject as for what I have heard.

Anyways, that crowd sounds awful! 16 year old girls all of them.

SkaRobotArmy 08-16-2007 04:04 AM

'gotta make your money while you got the chance'

maybe they are just doin this to get some money together and experiment a little bit then when contract expires they go back and start doin what they want.

Henrik 08-16-2007 04:15 AM

If they pulled of a Chumbawamba I would love them so ****ing much!!!

Like someone else on here once said: Imagine if they went on stage for some huge award show and then suddenly just announced that they still were anarchists and starting playing one of the old songs like Baby I'm An Anarchist, Impact etc. Then they would give all the money they earned to some awesome benefit and everything would be great again :p

I just saw Against Me! last night and it was an awesome show. I came home covered in sweat from singing and moshing with everyone. The best part was the encore when they played Baby I'm an Anarchist and We Laugh at Danger and Break All the Rules and everyone went crazy and sang every word. It was probably the best concert I've ever been to.

Anarcho Poser 08-17-2007 12:07 AM

what was the setlist like?

Johnny Quest. 08-17-2007 05:24 AM

I'm seeing them in a couple days, so i hope they play those two songs.

blockhead 08-17-2007 01:42 PM
what was the setlist like?
Started with Pints of Guiness, lots of stuff off New Wave, Cliche Guevara, Those Anarcho Punks are mysterious, Reinventing Axl Rose, Walking is Still Honest, that's all I can remember. I was disappointed they didn't play Cavalier Eternal.

That would actually make things twice as gay as they were before.

hahaha. and man, air banding is sick.

AndreTheHyena 08-18-2007 04:45 PM

I like the new album. Yeah, I said it. I'm also going to go see them next month. Who cares?

Brewing Up With 08-18-2007 05:23 PM

You can like the new album if you want. I don't completely hate it. I just like the old Against Me! a lot more.

They will always put on a good show though, they still play their old songs and have a lot of energy. Go see them.

Cliche 08-18-2007 08:47 PM

I like all the new songs, except Stop!, Animal, and Ocean. But that might change with the acoustic version of Animal coming out soon.

Brewing Up With 08-18-2007 08:57 PM

It seems like if any of these songs were acoustic they'd be better

Cliche 08-18-2007 09:27 PM

Well I posted Up The Cuts acoustic quite a few pages back, but here it is again:

santi3hg 08-18-2007 10:00 PM

I can't believe there was not one acoustic on the new album.

Twin Human Highway Flares 08-18-2007 10:38 PM

I saw an interview where Warren was talking about how he likes that there are no acoustic tracks cos he gets to play on every song

Brewing Up With 08-18-2007 10:42 PM
I can't believe there was not one acoustic on the new album.
Theres at least one new acoustic song though. The released the song "You Must Be Willing" on the Thrash Unreal single.

Twin Human Highway Flares 08-18-2007 11:12 PM

You Must Be Willing isn't really acoustic. It kicks in at the end. I remember thinking it would be better if they left it completely acoustic.

EDIT: Or is it in every chorus? I don't remember. Haven't listened to the song since I got the 7", which was like a month ago.

They didn't play it when I saw them, but I really hope theu will next time in october.

Look at the heroes section.

thepo 08-19-2007 01:56 PM

HAHAH! I had heard that a picture like that existed somewhere on the old AM! boards. Warren and Andrew are definitely the only members who I will respect, and pretty much love, no matter what. They should be total badasses and make their own band.

Flagjacket 08-19-2007 01:58 PM

It makes me happy to know that Warren cut off his dick.

santih3g's links are the only thing worth reading in this thread.

Why not James?

Anarcho Poser 08-19-2007 04:39 PM

I don't think I've ever heard James say anything other than "woah-oh-oh-oh"

rancid22 08-19-2007 04:39 PM

hmm. well i just got the new album and i havent posted on here in a long time so i came looking for this thread figuring it would be up front.

i really liked white people for peace and thought the album would be just as politically charged as that song, but i still liked most of the songs. up the cuts and stop! are probably my favorite songs in the album. wish i could see them but the closest they come to me is gainesville tonight in north florida and i live down in miami. i know a few people making the trip but i start school in two days so i cant.

thepo 08-19-2007 04:40 PM

It's not that I don't like him, he just doesn't seem as rad as Warren or Andrew. Or have as much facial hair.

When I saw them live for the first time, Andrew was all over the place before the show, and me and my friends got to talk to him for a while. Then we spoke with Warren after the show, while James just kinda hid in the back. He also doesn't do much speaking in interviews.

Also, Jesus Christ, what's with all the people from Miami in this thread?

rancid22 08-19-2007 04:52 PM

hah. sorry i didnt notice. i never have seen many people here from miami but i am usually in the guitar forum. i used to post in the punk forums many moons ago but moved to the guitar ones. has been nearly a year since i came on.

and i just went back a few pages and read the article about tom and whatnot. was it a messed up thing to do that completely contradicts many of the beliefs of his songs? yes. but i cant say that i hate the guy for it or anything. i also am against violence and stuff but i think it would be easy for me to lose my cool and just want to hurt someone. but it doesnt seem like the guy did much provoking at all. maybe gable just has no patience. still a very upsetting story to read.

Brewing Up With 08-19-2007 04:57 PM

I find James almost annoying to hear at times. He takes over so many vocal parts that Tom sings in the recorded versions of songs. He'll sing like the whole entire second half of Those Anarcho Punks and You Look Like I Need a Drink

SkaRobotArmy 08-19-2007 05:56 PM

thats hilarious, i love his beard.
