I wouldn't call that song melodic at all. The keyboard is sorta, but not enough to call the song melodic, it's absolutely nothing melodically compared to something off of Hatebreeder. I looked at the song The Rose of Sharyn by Killswitch Engage and the intro to that reminds me a lot of IYF. I should watch Headbanger's Ball on saturday because I know I have heard stuff ont here that reminds me of this song.

The guitar is not at all similar to that of their older stuff. Alexi's actually trying to riff now instead of constantly shredding the licks and solos we love oh so much. But the keyboards haven't changed at all, and that's what makes the song still quite melodic.

I couldn't tell you if it sounds like Killswitch, since I don't like/listen to them. I wouldn't say IYF sounds like metalcore in general.

Scoot 08-04-2005 07:23 PM

Anyone know how the new album sounds?

Shadows 08-04-2005 07:25 PM

Judging by the one new song I've heard, I'd say it sounds great. Almost every other person here would say the opposite.

2 songs you mean, TL&S is on the album.

I'd say it sounds ok. If you like older Bodom and older powermetal this won't appeal to much to you, but if you are into HCDR Bodom and NWOAHM it'll be good.

IheartSP 08-04-2005 08:38 PM

*sniff* I'm listening to Bed of Razors and it makes me miss Bodom so much. I'm still gonna see a show so I can hear some old stuff. I'd be satisfied if they played 10 new songs and 1 old one even as long as I see Bodom.

Anyone following the Ultima thing I have good news and bad news. My band has finished 2 more songs as of today, the bad news is we still don't have any recordings and may not for over a month. If anyone is interested in seeing a gp of the 2 songs that were finished, I know some of you saw half of one of them, just tell me and I'll upload them.

Shattered_Future 08-04-2005 09:15 PM

Bodom's new song doesn't sound ANYTHING like Killswitch...where'd this comparison come from?

Judging from their 2 new songs, the new album is...different. They're going in a new direction, for better or for worse. Personally, I liked their older stuff, but knowing Bodom, they'll probably pull off what they're doing just as well. :)
I didnt see a Children of Bodom thread so i decided to make one myself. If you want to talk about this amazing band then this is the place to do it. Lets get the ball rolling.

What is your favorite Bodom song?
Children Of Decadence

leomondaine 08-04-2005 09:49 PM

WAIT? the singles out?! hows the britney spears cover?
WAIT? the singles out?! hows the britney spears cover?
The single isn't out yet. A rip of In Your Face has leaked onto the internet and most of us have heard it. The Britney Spears cover is still unknown.

Huber 08-04-2005 10:13 PM
So far, not only does In Your Face not sound metalcore at all, but it also sounds nothing like HCDR. I think IYF is very melodic thanks to Janne. Hardly opposite of pro-melody.
Just listened to IYF, not quite sure what to think yet. Whoever said it sounds metalcorish, I'd be lying if I didn't agree with you somewhat. It definitely has a bit of that vibe. Also, the industrial elements were certainly there, as predicted. Not a bad tune at all, but certainly is another new sound for them.

Yeah, It's definaltly different. I like it though.

1 tone repeat. hate me verse, kissing the shadows verse, and everytime I die intro which is played at some parts of the song....it's kinda like the main riff

No no no no no no no....

I need to introduce you guys to actual metalcore. It's so far from Bodom it's not even funny.

Mr. Squiggles 08-05-2005 10:27 AM

What is actual metalcore?

Shattered_Future 08-05-2005 11:19 AM

Killswitch Engage. (duh)

Or, almost anything off of Victory Records, if you want crappy generic metalcore.

flamesofbodom 08-05-2005 12:44 PM

KsE is awesome...But then there's Hawthorne Heights :(

Huber 08-05-2005 12:47 PM
KsE is awesome...But then there's Hawthorne Heights :(
That's a pitiful mainstream Emo band (Hawthorne Heights)

THere's the more popular Metalcore bands, but then there's some that kind of remain underground that maintain the backbone sound of Metalcore. KsE is barely metalcore. I'd put them under NWOAHM right now.

AA-12 08-05-2005 12:49 PM

Hawthorne Heights also isn't metalcore. I'll make a YSI/List of some of what I believe are the best metalcore bands.

Shattered_Future 08-05-2005 12:50 PM

The hell KsE isn't metalcore...

True, they are head and shoulders above the rest of the metalcore scene, and they have a vocalist who actually SINGS, you can't deny that they are metalcore. The chugging riff style is unmistakable.

And Hawthorne Heights isn't really emo either...i dunno what they are though. I just call them crap.

Huber 08-05-2005 12:52 PM

The End Of Heartache is borderline metalcore, and probably better put under NWOAHM. There s/t though is definetly metalcore.

AA-12 08-05-2005 12:52 PM

They aren't very metalcore, but they do have influence.

naboo 08-05-2005 12:53 PM

I didn't feel like looking through the thread to see if this has been mentioned but... Has anyone heard Bodom's cover of Oops I Did it Again? It's pretty.... bad, in my opinion. What does everyone else think?

Got a link to it?

Huber 08-05-2005 12:54 PM

I didn't expect it to be good...heh

I'd still like to hear it though.

naboo 08-05-2005 12:55 PM
Got a link to it?
No, but I'm going to go check out You Send It. Never used it before, so I'm not sure how long it's gonna take.

Shattered_Future 08-05-2005 12:58 PM

Make sure you make the link hxxp instead of http.

JoshH 08-05-2005 01:05 PM

so does anyone have toxic yet?

Moses 08-05-2005 01:05 PM

I'd rather hear Cryptopsy cover Oops I did it again.

Huber 08-05-2005 01:06 PM
I'd rather hear Cryptopsy cover Oops I did it again.
Me too. That'd be hilarious.

I'm just curious if CoB did anything to the song themselves. They couldn't have just gone, "Let's cover that song!" I have a feeling it was more like "Let's add [this and that] to that song and cover it!"

naboo 08-05-2005 01:15 PM

Actually, I was surprised. There wasn't too much added to it. There's a short solo though.

naboo 08-05-2005 01:38 PM

Alright, uploading is taking a bit longer than I expected. I have to go, so I'll post it later today or tomorrow.

IheartSP 08-05-2005 01:48 PM

thanks a lot

quoted for agreement.

naboo: thanks tons! I was trying to get it, but failed miserably because the dude that was going to post it on the cobhc official board didn't.

flamesofbodom 08-05-2005 03:41 PM

I now like IYF. Cant wait to hear the cover, thanks naboo.

Taste_My_Scythe 08-05-2005 03:42 PM

I told you guys you have to listen to it a few times before you understand it's NOT METALCORE and Bodom is still there.

No offense, SP.

IheartSP 08-05-2005 03:43 PM

If it isn't Metalcore I won't settle for anything less than it's NWOAHM.
