i don't like zildjians :P, is the 22" K heavy like the 22" HH heavy?, i don't like the raw bell... because everyone has it, is like it's some sort of "the latest fashion cymbal" :P,

playwithfire 01-17-2006 03:45 PM

People like it because it sounds good. If you want to make an "anti-good gear that's common" statement go buy a setup of ZXTs...

Anyway, to whoever mentioned it, I have a 22" A Zildjian Ping ride, and it's a fantastic cymbal. The bell is clear, bright and defined, while the bow is dry, bright and articulate. Fits in a lot of music. I would recommend it to anyone.

chewaz 01-17-2006 06:23 PM

i've tried A ping ride and didn't like it a lot, i found it too ringy, i want something more organic, i think I'll go for the HH heavy 22", and the AAX-xcelerator 14", AA" Splash 10" and 8", but i'm not quite sure about the crashes maybe the HHXtreme or AA medium-thin

full collapse 01-17-2006 06:48 PM
Does the A Custom Mastersounds have a medium-thin top and medium bottom, or medium-thin top and extra heavy bottom?

Because the zildjian website says both.

And i'm looking for a ride that's similar to the 21" A Custom Projection ride, but with a bit brighter and louder bell.
Anybody?
Anybody?
the A custom hi hatsand a custom mastersounds are both medium thin top and medium bottom.the A custom projections are medium top heavy bottom.

Drum Phil 01-18-2006 06:37 AM

Ok im looking for a china between 18 and 22", Dark yet trashy with a decent amount of cut.

I would prefer it to be sabian but zildjian, paiste and ufip are acceptable

CasB 01-18-2006 07:06 AM

How 'bout wuhan?

ludvista29 01-18-2006 07:19 AM
How do you guys feel about the Paiste 13'' Mega Cup Chime or the 12'' Flanger Bell
i tried the flanger it was really cool, u should try it.:thumb:
How 'bout wuhan?
No easy access to wuhan

Obelisk 01-18-2006 08:01 AM

18" crash with a good wash whist "riding", yet bright on single hits. Medium to heavy weight, no pref. on mfg.

Heavier than A Custom, lighter than AA Rock crash.

Thanks!

Drum Phil 01-18-2006 08:26 AM

AAXPlosion?

full collapse 01-18-2006 11:16 AM

21" AA Rock Ride or 22" AA Rock Ride for rock/metal...

I'm kind of leaning towards the 22" because, I kind of want that extra bit of cutting ping, but will it be overpowering durning moderately soft rock parts?
Is it still capable of being a dynamic ride?

22" A ping ride maybe?

Drum Phil 01-18-2006 11:18 AM

22" HH Rock ride :)

full collapse 01-18-2006 11:46 AM

Alright so i've narrowed it down to these.... And I just can not deciede... So i'm just looking for some feedback and opinions...

14'' A Mastersounds and 22" A Ping ride or 21" A Custom Projection ride
14'' AAX Stage hats and 21" or 22" AA Rock Ride
14" HH Fusion hats and 22" or 21" (custom order) HH Rock ride

Remember i'm looking for cymbals to be played in dynamic rock/metal settings.
Thanks soo much.

ComicalMischief 01-18-2006 07:43 PM

I've been looking for a China to get...Bare with me as I don't really know many of these cymbal terms..
But basically, it'll be one for heavy rock, and maybe a little goofing off with soft stuff on the side.
I'm thinkin this'll have to be pretty loud. Nothing too high pitched, so probably something biggish. 17", 18", 19"?

I guess my want in sound is pretty open and broad, so, if anything, you can just point me in a general direction and I'll head down to GC sometime to give a little sound test. :thumb:

GC doesnt carry sabian AA but the AA chinese is a good one. also check the AAXtreeme

14" AXX-xcelerator (like a mastersound) and 22" Rock Ride or 21 A custom projection, I tried a 20" AA rock ride brilliant finish and i didn't like it a lot, i though i would, but i this saturday i'm going to try the 21" AA rock ride and the HH raw bell dry ride. :P

the projection has a pretty good bell, but the overall cymbal is really bright and sounds like a dog if u crash it :p id recommend the aa rock ride even though i have the projection. as for hats, i think the stage is the most volumous of the three, and it gets my vote for brightness

Tim 01-19-2006 03:05 AM

mmm AA rock ride. soon to be mine. hopefully.

Bowler 01-19-2006 04:06 AM

Whats the difference between the sabian AAX and the sabian pro sonix 18" chinas?

Im looking for the usual, kinda trashy something that wont ring out to much.

SpikedCola 01-19-2006 08:13 PM

Alright I need a pair of hihats that sound watery when hit open. Kinda like the ones the drummer from Alexisonfire plays, but in Zildjian (He plays sabian, and Ive had nothing but bad experiences with sabian)

Tim 01-19-2006 08:16 PM

how do you have a bad experience with sabian? if youre talking about breakage then you will probably have the same problem with zildjian. anyways i have never heard of alexisonfire and the term watery isnt exactly helping either.

SpikedCola 01-19-2006 08:50 PM

The crash I had cracked after about a weeks worth of playing, and the hihats Ive played sounded terrible. That was a few years ago though, so dont ask about the model because its been too long :p So far I havent broken a single zildjian and I beat on them like there's no tomorrow. I dont really know how to describe his hihats, except for watery, and the fact that they sound really smooth, not jagged at all. A clip of the hihats is here

cymbals just dont crack....obviously a technique issue especially after a few weeks worth of play. you probably played crappy b8 hats. those are like zbt's.

they do with Ahead :upset:

Tim 01-20-2006 06:58 PM
they do with Ahead :upset:
thats why you use wood sticks my friend.

shadow_stalker 01-20-2006 07:02 PM

Yeah i found that out the hard way, my poor little splash has never been the same since

i never actually saw the point in plastic tipped sticks, the tips always just brake for me and the sticks dont sound as good

Tim 01-20-2006 07:20 PM

plastic tips? nylon.

The nylon tips, as you discovered, alter the sound compared to wood. You don't like the sound, but some do. There's their point. Also, the tips don't tend to break off when I use nylons, although that isn't too often.

id definately go with either of the sabian deals, if it were me, id be all over the AAX stage hats and the AA rock ride, cuz i have the stage hats now and will definately be looking into that ride when i wanna trade in my stage ride cuz its too washy and like doesnt have a bell

chewaz 01-20-2006 11:32 PM

AA's and HH's brilliant or trad? i don't like the looks of the AA brilliants (rock, el sabor..) but i haven't seen an HH brilliant yet

Tim 01-21-2006 12:32 AM

definately AA in trad.

chewaz 01-21-2006 12:43 AM

I'm looking for a new China Cymbal, i mean i re newed all my cymbals but forgot about my China, It's only a cheap Sabian Solar, i like the sound of it but i'm looking for something more aggressive and used in more heavier metal.
I'm hoping to stay with in the Zildjian Line preferably.

FL3P 01-21-2006 08:45 AM

Perhaps an Oriental China trash is what you want? Or if thats too trashy then maybe an A china high.

-=[Luke]=- 01-21-2006 08:46 AM

Cheers, i was actually thinking of a Oriental Trash, just wanted others opinions :p

Snarz 01-21-2006 10:22 AM

Lol.But its always good to have others opinions. It helps alot more to have other thoughts.
