I'm leaving in just over an hour to go see them. Hopefully it will be good.

!MuDvAyNiAn! 04-20-2006 02:47 PM

tell us how it was when u return:)

Mute Print 04-20-2006 02:58 PM

Shall do. :)

I'm not big into Alk3, but I've been liking them a lot more as of late, so I'm sure it'll be a good time.
I knew about this a while ago!

Sup Alkaline trio?

I'm going to see the Trio tonight, it's funny because I don't really care but I used to be really into Alkaline trio and was obsessed with the idea of going to seem em live but I never have, but that'll change tonight.

So I Was wondering, has anyone ever seen Alkaline trio live or seen em play recently? am I in for a good show?

EDIT: dips, Alkaline trio is pop punk?

Sweet.

Kif 04-20-2006 04:23 PM

I saw them last year. Wasn't anything too special really, although they were pressured by someone in the crowd to play "Warbrain". They hadn't practised it in a long time, but it was great to hear that song live, one of my favourites by them. I got their autographs as well, which is a bonus I guess.

Chaos 04-20-2006 04:24 PM

Wow I made a thread, it got moved to another forum then shoved into an "official thread"

Hi My Name Is Mark 04-20-2006 04:26 PM

would you guys be mad or think it would be cool if Richard Cheese did an Alk3 cover? that guy does some insane covers...(i hate slipknot but...) he did a good cover of one of their songs, did a good cover of enter sandman...great cover of come out and play (the offspring), from what i've heard of it, his cover of feelin' this is good too...so i know he does the pop-punk stuff, and doesn't have a problem with swearing (the slipknot song was People = Sh!t and no i'm not saying they or metallica are pop-punk) so i don't think it would be awkward for him to do one

it'd be stupid because Alkaline trio isn't as popular as those other bands.

imo

!MuDvAyNiAn! 04-20-2006 04:44 PM

i think it would be hilarious, iv only heard him do a cover of chop suey by SOAD and it was the funniest thing iv ever heard, i never realised he done loads of covers..?

Hi My Name Is Mark 04-20-2006 04:44 PM

well, he did milkshake...and i'd never even heard of whoever the hell sings milkshake until after that song

Vincent Avatar ftw!

I saw them in November, and they were ****ing awesome. Matt tore his vocal chords, so Dan sang the entire set, which was great, cause I prefer Dan's voice to Matts anyway. It was awesome.

Hi My Name Is Mark 04-20-2006 04:56 PM

^was it dan's songs, or did he sing some of matt's songs too? 'cause i know they change the set around on the spot sometimes

!MuDvAyNiAn! 04-20-2006 05:53 PM

tbh i prefer matts voice, but they both have great voices and they go so great together

Hi My Name Is Mark 04-20-2006 08:29 PM

yeah, their voices really compliment each other a lot...and i too prefer matt's voice over dan's...i know there's been discussion of this a while ago in here, but i think derek really should have a full song with him on lead vocals, even if it has to be acoustic...or i even think it'd be cool if he played guitar and skiba played drums for a song...just cause it'd be something they usually don't do

Mute Print 04-21-2006 12:17 AM

Woah, an MXer was at the show I was at tonight? Wow.

Anyway, the show was great. Here is a link to a complete review:

Ditto, i think matt sings the better sings in general.

Dan's not bad though

Angry Balled Fists! 04-21-2006 05:08 AM

Nah i prefer Dan's voice on the whole.

Are you on about when i went too ?

I can't remember them playing Warbrain ?

He sang all of Matt's songs.
Are you on about when i went too ?

Yeah, and they definately did. I have it on video from my cameraphone. They had a second guitarist come out to play the lead as well since Matt forgot how.

Angry Balled Fists! 04-21-2006 07:05 AM

oh righhr ight, hmm i dunno why i can't remember it then.

Permanent Solution 04-21-2006 11:23 AM

I think Dan's voice has a nicer tone to it though Matt's voice is better for the Punkier stuff.

!MuDvAyNiAn! 04-21-2006 04:18 PM
I think Dan's voice has a nicer tone to it though Matt's voice is better for the Punkier stuff.
exactly. Matt's voice is more scruffy (but in a good way) and punky, which i like better. But Dan has a nicer voice. I love songs that they sing a line each such as Back To hell, theyve voices are great together!

jonnyward 05-05-2006 02:08 PM
exactly. Matt's voice is more scruffy
its just a result of years of smoking, heavy smoking or not i dont know

Hi My Name Is Mark 05-05-2006 02:36 PM

chain smoking. i think he quit smoking though. i know the whole band quit drinking.

Chilly-Bean-Bop 05-05-2006 04:43 PM

Matt didn't completely quit drinking.

At one show, he said that he quit drinking and that he wasn't supposed to have anything. But a guy bought him a beer. And he drank it.

Hi My Name Is Mark 05-05-2006 10:28 PM

oh, then they at least cut down

Oz Rembrandt 05-06-2006 04:03 AM

They have no reason to be out and getting wasted all the time now. they've grown up, and Matt and Derek are married. They're not the kids they were.

Hi My Name Is Mark 05-06-2006 09:09 AM

i thought dan was married too?

poprocks&coke 05-06-2006 01:47 PM

His wife's called Sunshine.

!MuDvAyNiAn! 05-06-2006 04:56 PM

Alot of bands seem to maturing and growing up now.

Hi My Name Is Mark 05-06-2006 08:07 PM

probably because the newer bands suck and have no true creativity (for the most part at least), so all the bands who have been around for years of course are staying big, while newer bands have a popularity level very similar to a mountain. they grow and get to the point where they want to be. then they truly just don't try anymore, therefore their popularity falls greatly, and sometimes kind of falls like a cliff....hopefully a new band with a lot of creativity will come out soon.

B 05-06-2006 08:09 PM

haha ok there bud.

Get your head out of your ass and have a look around and find some REAL new bands :)

Oz Rembrandt 05-07-2006 04:58 PM

I didn't mention Dan's marrige coz I wasn't sure...

I got my head out, and looked for some real new bands. I didn't like them.

CrimbleVan 05-07-2006 06:15 PM

I saw them on 4.15

twas amazing

It was my 3rd (?) time seeing them and they still amazed me

Bad Blood 05-08-2006 09:57 AM

I've really gone off Alk3 recently :( I need to hear some new stuff.

Hi My Name Is Mark 05-08-2006 03:28 PM

my friend ordered me the 2 disc burn vinyl's! which is cool...i'm just gonna pay him back when they come in, cause my parents wont order me anything, so i'm gonna see if he can order me some more vinyl's and i'll probably end up buying his record player, if i don't get a really good one for my birthday or something...for now i'm just using my brothers

are there any alkaline trio vinyl's with really rare stuff (other than the halloween 7") that i could get?

Surtr 05-09-2006 04:52 AM

I got Crimson the other day. I love it, it's a really good album.
