Has anyone heard the original band named Slipknot? They were a hardcore band back in the mid to late 80s. Not too bad stuff.
Umm... what? An explanation would be good =P I have no idea wtf you're talking about!

They´re just jealous because they never managed one of the best translations and papers on Beowolf in existence...

You can download an album here. Pretty much just a band that has the sam name as Slipknot but were earlier. I just wondered if anyone had heard of them.

Drunken Viking 03-01-2006 10:38 PM

So yeah to bump this thread.

When did you guys start liking Slipknot? I started liking them right after Vol. 3 came out and my brother started listening to it a lot, I liked Duality and tried the rest of the CD and it was great.

I used to like ST and Iowa. Then I picked up Vol: 3 and really liked it and still do. I dl MFKR(the one before corey) and it was great. Some neat jazz breaks and interesting hip hop style vocals.

Iowa is worthless IMO.

Vol: 3 is great.

ST is ehh.

MFKR is great.

Drunken Viking 03-01-2006 11:16 PM

I haven't given MFKR to much of a listen, a few minutes here or there but nothing to huge.

Give it one. Listen all the way through. It's solid.
Have you seen his drum solo? Where he cant keep time and keeps messing up? LOL, ya man he's really good. Slipknot on the self titled Cd was very unique, I expected great things from them, and then they release 2 more cd's that mostly sound the same imo, And on SV they add like 2 guitar solo's in that seem forced, like they had to prove to people that they can actually do it which seems kinda sad if it is true.
Ill tell u wat, wen u make it as big as them. Let us all know here on MX forums. We'll be very interested to hear from you. Considering that Joey is ranked as one of the greatest drummers of all time. Obviously no where near as good as drummers like Dave Lombardo. But just because he ****s up occasionaly in a DRUM SOLO, doesnt mean he sucks. Watch Joey during the Heretic Anthem, then tell me he sucks. As for the guitar solos, they have always wanted to, but they ended up being cut because there last producer didnt want them to use them.

Speed =/= skill.

I love Slipknot and what Joey does for them, but he's really not that great.

Also, no offence, but is it really that hard to type 'you'?

National chaos sam 03-15-2006 06:54 AM

bwaha slipknot at the grammies. Joey looked "in place" but craig really stood out. they mustve caused quite a scene! Has any one seen any footage of either craig sampling or any Very early shows?

Self titled album. The latest one is very good. Iowa wasn't good really but it's saved by 'Peopl=', Heretic anthem', 'My plague', and a few others. But the rest are noise pollution.
one of you guys said this thread was pretty much dead
It is dead, there aren't enough Slipknot fans on these forums to really make this a interesting thread. Either people come into this thread to bash and start strings of arguments and there isn't much to talk about in the world of Slipknot. It's pretty much hopeless.

JacksonDude675 04-15-2006 07:16 PM

you guys suck! i just tried to make a thread and you close it cause theres already a slipknot thread. F*** YOU DIABOLOUS! YOU CAN ROT IN HELL FOR ALL ETERNITY FOR ALL I CARE!!

Glad to see that you're banned yet again. I hope that it's permanent this time.

A'greed. Quit being a queer and just follow the rules.

Btw Thor, you have the best avatar on MX :thumb:

Thor 04-15-2006 08:12 PM

Why thank you. I can't take credit for it though, I saw Bobo's and knew that I had to have it.

Drunken Viking 04-15-2006 08:16 PM

I thought I'd seen Bobo with it.

Soul_Under_Arrest 04-15-2006 08:26 PM

They need to stop copying Mike Patton with the whole mask thing and learn how to construct a song.

Drunken Viking 04-15-2006 08:29 PM

Yeah, I'm sure they were copying Mike Patton the entire time with the mask thing. I should've realized it before. They can construct songs, just because you don't like Slipknot doesn't mean they don't have talent.

Tillius 04-15-2006 10:22 PM

Has anyone heard the Vermillion pt. 2 Bloodstone Remix on the Underworld 2 soundtrack?

Sleeper 04-15-2006 10:24 PM

No i haven't, I didn't even know they were on that soundtrack. How is it?

Tillius 04-15-2006 10:35 PM
No i haven't, I didn't even know they were on that soundtrack. How is it?
It's pretty awesome. I can't decide if I like it or the original better.
They need to stop copying Mike Patton with the whole mask thing and learn how to construct a song.
Wow.

MX has too many fags, there's no use making this thread active. I don't want to keep arguing with some hardcore 12 year old kids everytime because they just discovered black metal and think all other music is garbage. :smoke:
Has anyone heard the Vermillion pt. 2 Bloodstone Remix on the Underworld 2 soundtrack?
I think I heard it. Is it the one that has very quiet guitars. I preferred the original with louder acoustic guitars. Unless that was a different one.

Drunken Viking 04-16-2006 09:14 PM

Is it the same as the one on the Vol. 3 Special Eddition disc? That's the only other version I have.
So i hear there's a new Stone Sour album coming out.
Yup.

On their site it says they've completed like 16 tracks, so now they're just choosing which ones to use, and remixing will be done, etc... It will be done by Randy Staub (?) who supposedly mixed metallica's album also, not sure which one. Hopefully not the st. anger man. :)

Can't wait this one should be better than their first.

Belfast Bassist 05-08-2006 11:00 AM

Hey guys!! Im not really a slipknot fan, but i really liked one of their songs. problem is, i dunno what its called. In the video they all have their masks off, but you dont see their faces, and theyre playing indoors, one of them barefooted i think. If anyone could name it that would be class! cheers:chug:

ultim8bassist 05-08-2006 11:23 AM

I love slipknot. they r great musicians and the people generally underrate them because of the genre of music they r in.

Joey Jordison is an insane drummer, Corey Taylor is an awesome vocalist, and they have 2 great guitarists. The only members of the band i dont think r that great r Paul, and Sid and the clown and the pinnocchio lookin dude.

and craig doent even do anything realyy, he doesnt play ne music, at least not that i kno of.

other than that they r a great band and i own all of thier albums, i was very dissapointed wen i missed em at ozzfest 3 years ago.

Crysiss 05-08-2006 11:24 AM

nope, it was Before I Forget
