Yeah I always thought the intro to 'Pieces' sounded like that song. The piano parts sound like 90% the same. Good song though
|
Yeah, some dude definitly did that a really long time ago. But good efforts. ;)
http://www.purevolume.com/yenchekandthedalilamas
Huh.. wah... say what?? bugger... thought I'd clocked onto something new then.. never mind. Both songs are great. I only noticed how similar the opening notes of the two songs were from watching a live video of sum 41 playing pieces, Derek was playing it on the piano and it sounded so similar. |
Sum 41 Rehearsals for those who don't know... (Uploaded by Dipplesux)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USEJGLJOrjI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJl02HZTgjE Songs sound decent. I hope they record some songs that are along the lines of Over My Head, Still Waiting and No Reason. Those songs just get me pumped. |
What is your guys favourite Sum 41 album and why?. Would like to know some opinions before I buy one.
|
Mine goes DTLI>AKNF>HHOP>Chuck
DTLI was my first Sum CD, and it pretty much rocks. It was when they got more into the rock side of their career and less pop-punky. I listened to it pretty much every day of 8th grade. I still have a Sum 41 shirt of that time that I wear every now and then. AKNF is also awesome. It's great pop-punk, and Fat Lip and In Too Deep are great singles from there. Plus it has the debut of Pain for Pleasure. HHOP is their debut and is pretty much a rawer more energetic version of AKNF. Makes No Difference will always be kick ass, and there are more cool songs on there. Chuck was a good album, but it didn't have as much replayability as a whole. It has some great songs such as No Reason, All to Blame, Pieces, and 88, but it was a bit of a let down for me. Cool solos every now and then, but yeah. And that's me. |

Would like to know some opinions before I buy one.
well, if you like really heavy Does this look Infected, if you like more melodic rock go Chuck, if you really like pop-punk go Half Hour of Power and if you like a blend of pop-punk and heavier rock/rap then do All Killer No Filler |
Hmm, i'm gonna get half hour of power. But what i've heard from DTLI was good aswell.
|
Hard for me to choose... but I like Infected and Chuck pretty equally. The reason I like Chuck so much is because of No Reason. Deryck writes good lyrics, but for some reason, the lyrics of No Reason are perfect. That would have to be my current, overall, favorite Sum 41 song.
Infected was pretty good because it was the first CD I ever listened to from start to finish and replayed it over again. I really loved Over My Head and Mr. Amsterdam as well as Still Waiting. I listened to Infected all the time in grade 9, so it has sentimental value. Never owned Half Hour or All Killer. Though I have listened to a lot of songs from them. Really good stuff. I don't have an absolute favorite from those two however. I'm interested in this newer version or whatever of Subject to Change. Deryck says he's improved it the chorus and stuff so I hope it turns out great. Because I didn't find the chorus of Subject to Change very exciting. The rest of the song rawked though. |
Yeah that new stuff sounds great. More like their earlier stuff which I much prefer. I think Dave leaving will have had a huge influence on the new record because Dave is a huge metal fan and you could see Sum 41 were getting more metalish as their albums progressed. Now he has left I think Deryck will move more back to their original style. I sumhow cant see Deryck coming out with the metal solos in their newer stuff, and the fact that they are a 3 piece now is more suited to straight up pop/punk.
|
I just want some new stuff, I don't care what it sounds like, Sum 41 is amazing all around

So glad to hear they started recording.... (I thought they did...)
Can not wait to hear this album, those youtube rehearsals sound sweet |
I listened to All Killer yesterday. So long since I'd heard it, and I suddenly love the poppyness all over again.
|
It's easily their best album.
|
So glad to hear they started recording.... (I thought they did...)
Can not wait to hear this album, those youtube rehearsals sound sweet
They have definitely started recording their 5th album, Stevo is already done with his drum tracking...so I suppose that means it'll go pretty fast. |
K, so...no one comes in here anymore so this is just about the final update from me unless we can get some interest flowing again (which should happen due to new album coming up sooner than later).
If you haven't been keeping up with them, just go to http://www.myspace.com/sum41, because there's alot of neat stuff in there. Like they have a video update on their new album, if I heard Deryck right there's going to be 19 new songs or something like that, and Steve is done recording, Cone and Deryck are recording guitar and bass and Deryck isn't quite done writing the vocals yet. Also Road to Ruin, their new online tv-show chronicling their stupidity, just kind of looks alot like their Introduction to Destruction (cross your ts and gouge your eyes) dvd, just them filming themselves on the road...being themselves...and that's all, the new music sounds awesome, I can't wait |
well if your a true sum 41 fan you know about their pretend metal tribute band "pain for pleasure". hahaha i love that. me and my friend started our own called knarkill. hahah sum 41 rocks cant wait till there new cd
|
I wouldn't say I'm a true Sum 41 fan but I have "All Killer, No Filler" and "Does This Look Infected?" and I really like those albums.
|
I'm looking forward to their new album because they are saying it's supposed to be like their older stuff.
Also, Cone in my town this past week. He was shooting a video on our hospital with his side project band: The Operation. |
Is this their third full length album?
Is Cone's side project any good? What's he do, bass? I'll have to check them out. |
Fourth full lenth.
Fifth if you count half hour of power. |
This will be Sum 41s 5th full lenght album.
And I haven't heard Cone's side project. I just heard about them today when I was reading the paper about them beiing in my town. |
Ah, I forgot about Half Hour of Power.
I must be missing some of their albums then. Oh well. |
Ah, I forgot about Half Hour of Power.
Ah, I forgot about Half Hour of Power.
I must be missing some of their albums then. Oh well.
Okay, first things first, it's really awesome to see some interest regenerated up in here second, Half Hour of Power was the first then All Killer No Filler Does this look infected chuck and then the new super goodness that they're working on cones side project is called The Operation and they have a myspace, it's neat stuff but I'm not a fan And to that guy at the top, yes, everyone here knows about Pain for Pleasure, they are amazing. |

Remember that DTLI ended PFP pretty much. |
*were
Remember that DTLI ended PFP pretty much.
Well, it wasn't the cause of their ending, that's just when it stopped, cause during Chuck they were too busy being too awesome as Sum 41 then Dave left, seriously...they're screwed now, they can never perform What We're all About or Fat Lip or anything like that again without changing...dave you goober go back to your real life |
