Does anyone have any books on Pink Floyd? I got Echoes for Christmas and its pretty good. It has a write up on every single song, which was pretty cool. And it had really cool pictures.
|
Ya, I might order Echoes tonight.
|
I don't mean to sound like an elitist Floyd fan but, Echoes is not for real fans. Pink Floyd's brilliance was partly in their entire albums and without the albums, especially the concept ones, it's just not the same. Echoes is just for people who want to be able to say that they're a Pink Floyd fan when they really don't listen to very much of them.
/end rant. |

Piper At The Gates of Dawn: Should I buy or should I ignore?
Aww, there's a book now? There's a Pink Floyd everything now. The posers are taking over!
*runs*
Actually, the book has been out for a while, and apparently it has some very detailed, rare photo's in it that surely would interest any Floyd fan. And any fan would want to read up on the bands extroardinary history. That would would not sterotype someone as a poser. *doesn't run* |

Not one of my personal favorites... There's alot of other albums that are more worthy of purchasing first, unless you are especially fond of the Syd era. |

I posted in Classic Rock but I'll post again One of Floyd's best albums, I think you should definitly get it. |
It's all opinion man, just listen to it yourself and decide if it's worth the money.
|
Just make sure you have DSOTM before any other Floyd album
|
the wall is a definite first album.

What's the best live album?
|
What's the best live album?
I would go with PULSE
the wall is a definite first album.
I really dont think it is. It tends to confuse people just getting into Pink Floyd |
What's the best live album?
the wall live, its the only live album that features the classic line up (waters, gilmour, wright and mason), well exept ummagumma, its a great live album, but not for casual fans |
Yeah your really wrong little buddy.
And you must be a retard because I was joking. Not one word in that post was the least bit serious. |
The CN solo in PULSE is like sex.
I say Ummagumma, and I stand by it.
When was it released, and what songs are on it? It's the live album with a bunch of the longer songs, correct? |

Released in 1969 I believe. It is a double album with one live and one studio album. The live album has Astronomy Domine, Careful With That Axe Eugene, Set the Controls For the Heart of the Sun, and Saucerful of Sercrets. The studio album is new material. |
Yea. 1969 or 1970 I wanna say. The live disc has Astronomy Domine, Careful With That Ax, Eugene, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, and A Saucerful of Secrets. I absolutely love it.
edit: Yar! Ye beat me! |
i thought the wall: live was pretty good, cuz it had CN. i love that song, and the solo is so cool live. i should listen to ummagumma one day, my friend has it.

Why so you could hear him freak out on stage? He was rarely clear minded when they played live. |
Why so you could hear him freak out on stage?
He was rarely clear minded when they played live.
It has become a fad to like Syd Barrett and admire him as a God. |
