one of the best live bands ever, zeppelin is |
I started listening to The Eagles at 5, Pink Floyd at 10 and Hendrix when I started playing guitar at 12. From there, Zep, Cream, Allman Brothers, Beatles, Stones, Doors, Tull, anything, including '40s be-bop and most importantly the Blues artists such as Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and Robert Johnson that guys like Hendrix, Clapton, and Jimmy Page worshipped.

When talking about classic rock and the legends no body seems to give any credit to MC5 they were playing heavy and crazy in the 60's.

We talk about them :) |
You would think that in 83 pages of a thread talking about nothing but classic rock that we would of mentioned them at least once...

Dude, that's the same one I went to! Man wasn't that fucking sweet? I up at the front every show (I cought a pic during the alice cooper show). I can't beleive april wine played 21st century schizoid man, that was awesome, and the drum solo :D! The whole kill bill thing (and the gang bit) alice did was top notch. The whole thing Randy bachman did in hey you was really cool too, and the little drumstick bit.
That must of been great. Randy Bachman is even better today than he has ever been. And I don't like them as much a a ton of other bands but they are pretty good. |
Does anybody like Bob Seger? My friend just bought his live cd and apparently he really likes him. I know he's from Michigan or whatever, but I just don't enjoy his music. To me there's nothing special about it, its just not catchy. Any thoughts?

No, no one's alowed to have their own opinion! I guess you didn't catch on(afterall it's hard to tell on the internet) but I was joking. Anyways, I like them and they put on a good show. |

I love Bob Seger. He has a great voice, is a great song writter, his band is kick *** and he's one of the greatest performers in the history of rock and roll, in my opinon. |

We need more bands to talk about
War - I love this band. Currently I'm trying to pile up on their CD's but I still got ways to go. What I love aobut them is that they are a Classic Funkish Soulish Latinish Jam Band. They always provide awesome jams and great lyrics. The mellow funk grooves just hit the spot for me. They're quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. So far my favorite work of theirs is on All Day Music . It's their second album and probably their best. All 7 songs are a joy to listen with "Baby Brother" and "All Day Music" being my favorites. I recomend this album highly. Now lets see what you guys think. |
The last great discussion we had was on The Allman Brothers.
|
We've had so many great discussions we're running out of bands and songs and such. So what are you guys listening to? I'm listening to jeff Healey band- Cover to cover. Man that guy gets a lot of great colaberations (sp)? George Harrison, Eric clapton, Mark Knopfler... All for some blind guy.
|
Deep Purple - Woman from Tokyo... playing along to it with my guitar. Man i love jsut sitting in front of my comp and listeing to CR songs and improvising solos and stuff to them, alot of them rely on quite a few of the same 'type' of notes and all, anyone else do this?
DVG. |
That's what I do a lot. Exept only acoustic and I can't play solos as well on acoustic then electric.
|
I play alot of melodic solos on acoutics... so if its like a love song, id use an acoustic. *shrug* "Here comes salvation in the shape of my guitar!" Deep Purple - Lick it up... this song rocks!
DVG. |
Here comes Jeff Healey stop breakin' down. Jeff Healey>Richie Blackmore.
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?
o and for u classic rock fans, the crime of the new century was that the Yardbirds new CD, Birdland, recieved no attention at all. that deserved a grammy, or 6. so are there any other classic rock fans out there, and even if ur not, have u been noticing somewhat of a revival in interest for that sort of music?
The Yardbirds have a new cd? what's the lineup? |
