 You're on your own, man.

rockindrummer 02-09-2006 11:43 PM

haha wow. That is just weird.

FockerTheLopper 02-09-2006 11:45 PM
System of a down are kinda Meh to me. There earlier albums were way to generic. But I have to say they have really improved on the last 2 albums (Hypnotize and ....the other one) Now they are adding new things to there sound (Polka influence in some songs)
They've been adding polka since the beggining... Listen to peephole, they have a tuba for crying out loud!

Anyway they're my favorite band by far and I like classic rock more then anything so that says alot.

Just love their sound in general.

derryk 02-09-2006 11:45 PM

Yeah. How can Ryan be stuck in there?

Unless it's only a certain part of him in there..

*shifty eyes* Hmm..

FockerTheLopper 02-09-2006 11:46 PM
Avi change ladies and gents!!
Hmm... No pistachio whores around anymore... Time for me to make my move

To the batcave!

Blank 02-10-2006 12:10 AM

I busted through and I'm stuck through the middle of it.

Double Bass Jim 02-10-2006 12:37 AM
New metal fuc,king sucks ***
Most all new music blows hard, you have to really dig to find anything decent.

IFYS 02-10-2006 12:40 AM

^^^Right? What ever happened to strong grooves?

Blank 02-10-2006 12:43 AM

Mudvayne is a good example of good NU metal :)

Futuro 02-10-2006 12:44 AM
^^^Right? What ever happened to strong grooves?
And guitar solos! I mean WTF No one does solos' anymore! That is still something that turns me off of tool. Sure they have progressive aspects (Odd meters, cool song writing) But theres no real guitar solo in any of there songs.
Mudvayne is a good example of good NU metal
They suck hard now. They dont play with odd times, no more 6-8 minute songs etc.

Double Bass Jim 02-10-2006 12:51 AM

They suck, and ya gotta love the term "math metal"

To bad death was doing it long ago and 100x's better.

Futuro 02-10-2006 12:56 AM
They suck, and ya gotta love the term "math metal"
Never heard that before lol. I have to say I was entertained by there first album for a few weeks (I was 15 or something gimmie a break  )
To bad death was doing it long ago and 100x's better.
Yeah, Great musicians.

Double Bass Jim 02-10-2006 12:59 AM

Yea one of the very few metal bands I really like, can take alot away from listening to them. Chuck was a great player too!

Jezen 02-10-2006 01:01 AM

System's first 3 albums were great. Now they suck. Hard.

Blank 02-10-2006 01:03 AM

Toxicity was a great album!
Psycho is a good example of there talent ;)

Futuro 02-10-2006 01:03 AM
System's first 3 albums were great. Now they suck. Hard.
I wouldnt say they have done anything "great" They are definetly generic for the times.

Jezen 02-10-2006 01:04 AM

And now they are just making noise for the sake of it, instead of the beautiful music they used to create. Generic wha?

Futuro 02-10-2006 01:06 AM
And now they are just making noise for the sake of it, instead of the beautiful music they used to create. Generic wha?
....I dont like them now either...Hell they are still generic IMO. Alot of bands are doing the same thing now. I heard a band on some talk show that sounded exactly like SOAD. All in all they are a generic band with an arabian guy.

Double Bass Jim 02-10-2006 01:08 AM

Thats why I end up listening to the exact same things over and over and over.

IFYS 02-10-2006 01:09 AM

^^^Never really cared for them in the first place, and they all are Armanian....Don't ask why I know that!

Blank 02-10-2006 01:11 AM

How do you know that?

Ah man,the red hot chili peppers are making a double album! :chug:

IFYS 02-10-2006 01:15 AM

Cuz our guitarist won't stop playing that sh!t!!!

Jezen 02-10-2006 01:17 AM

I thought it was well known that they were Armenian?

Blank 02-10-2006 01:33 AM

LMAO,I was being a smartass Jezen.

Seafroggys 02-10-2006 01:39 AM
Thats why I end up listening to the exact same things over and over and over.
yeah, in my case The Beatles, The Who, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, etc....

the newest song I have on my computer is from 1999......the song "Homeworld" by Yes (imagine that  )

Double Bass Jim 02-10-2006 01:43 AM

Exactly, most everything is crap.

I can't say that 100%, there are a VERY very select modern bands I really like, but overall... Not at all.

It's hard to find music where I can sit down and listen and be inspired, I wanna take something away from a listen, I wanna say DAMN I gotta rewind that part that was awesome. Something that gets the mind working a bit.

Blank 02-10-2006 01:55 AM

Yngwei Malsteem inspires me...

Corkofski 02-10-2006 01:56 AM

tbh, i cant get enough of system

and for solos, listen to trivium

Futuro 02-10-2006 01:56 AM
Yngwei Malsteem inspires me...
Now that is some playing.

Epiphender 02-10-2006 02:04 AM
Yngwei Malsteem inspires me...
I prefer Yngwie Malmsteen.

Sorry Ryan haha. Eh I got nothin better to post. I was gonna harass Jim some more but he's probably already shed enough tears for one day.

Seafroggys 02-10-2006 02:04 AM

any porcupine tree song you might suggest me getting?

Double Bass Jim 02-10-2006 02:10 AM

Blackest eyes

Bone 02-10-2006 02:14 AM

Excellent choice!

Gavin is a fantastic player, very smooth, very clean. His DVD and Books are excellent as well for any player looking to understand a bit more about how and what he plays.

Futuro 02-10-2006 02:14 AM

Ill upload a few of my favorite songs for you seafroggys. Can You give me an Email to reach you at? Ill upload them later today.

Chill out music is where its at. Oh and rock and supergrass.

Futuro 02-10-2006 02:29 AM
I don't like any metal anymore.
Metal, Meh, I like Opeth. But Im kinda a geek to Power metal

Epiphender 02-10-2006 02:35 AM

Anyone listen to St. Germain? It's like the soundtrack to a super trendy expensive clothing store. :thumb: Haha it's seriously good stuff though some of it. Incorporates a few different styles. Listen to Rose Rouge if you get a chance.
