A friend gave me GP5 on a cd. It has the code in it everything, so I just have to install it and download the instruments and stuff

Good great goddamned Lord, what a night!

So today we had band practice, and all got our "advance" copies of the EP, with the vocals and all (I'm so damn excited!!! It all sounds great), and a couple friends from another local metal band came and chilled out. So we took a break and went to KFC/Taco Bell for Dinner, and chaos ensued. While we were in the restraunt, we were goofing off and being very loudly obnoxious (of course what else can you expect when you get a bunch of crazy metalheads in a group in a public place). Now when we got OUT of the restraunt, things got really chaotic and hilarious.

Eric (our new lead singer) is a fricken' comedian. That being said, he was busy doing his best impression of a guy with Down's Syndrome (yeah, screwed up, I know :p ), when these cheerleader girls came walking up to the door. Eric, of course, walked up to them, still with the Down's gimmick on. So the girls are like "what's wrong hunny?", to which he replies "I NEEED SEVENTEEYN STRRRRAWWWWSSS!" "Well, why?" "THIS ONE TOO SHORT!" so they just walk in and go like "what the fuck" but a minute later they walk back out with a handful of straws. We all crack up as Eric acts so surprised and happy and gives them all hugs. So we think "how can we top this?" and Bobby (the guy from the other band) counts the straws. There's only 12 straws. So he runs inside. We're all like "oh my god, what the hell now..." and look through the window, and he's screaming his lungs out "HOW THE HELL COULD YOU!!! THE POOR KID ONLY WANTED 17 STRAWS!!!" and watch in amazement as he threw those straws at the girls. At that moment, Bobby runs like hell, and so do we  "GET TO THE CARS GET TO THE CARS!!!"...needless to say, an eventful night. Goddamn, it was hilarious...

NP: Without A Trace - Through The Sands Of Time

This will hopefully be on the myspace soon

Dude, I will love you forever if you get me this. :)

Jom 03-22-2006 10:15 PM

Meh, I kinda feel bad about stealing.

If the others say it works without any problems, then okay. But if not, then I will just stick with the demo version.
Woah, you can upload GP5?
Whats GP5?

Edit: I'm guessing its guitar pro 5. What exactly does that do?
Meh, I kinda feel bad about stealing.
Me too, especially programs.

.
If you've ever used Power Tabs, it's extremely similar.

If you haven't, it's a program with many instruments built in that you can use to draft electronic outlines of original pieces. You can also write tab on it, and it will play the song while showing the tablature. Pretty neat stuff.

www.guitar-pro.com

I'd recommend trying out the demo for a while, just to get a feel for it.

Jom 03-22-2006 11:47 PM

I use it to write sheet music, even though it's much easier (and pretty much default) to write in tablature.

Moses 03-23-2006 12:01 AM

I hate tabs.

EVERYONE CHECK OUT CLERIC RIGHT NOW!!! loook at my thread.

Invicta_Veritas 03-23-2006 12:19 AM

<<<<<<is trying to decipher Yngwie malmstein's sweep picking........

Leper 03-23-2006 12:24 AM

Yeah I hate tabs too. There are too many badly written ones out there for me to even bother with them.

blue3 03-23-2006 12:26 AM

Guitar pro or powertabs work well for tabs. I don't really like reading sheet music, cause I'm horrible at it.

I hate tabs too.

/can sight read :p

roguewarheart@yahoo.com

This would be the full version of GP5, not the demo?

Thanks!

Leper 03-23-2006 01:40 AM
I hate tabs too.

/can sight read :p
I'm still learning, but I find it a lot easier to just find the chords used, and then look them up in a chords book I have.

PinkFreud 03-23-2006 01:42 AM

I use tabs because I'm not familiar enough with the guitar to know the notes on it. I just mess around so it's more of a feel thing with me. I can sight-read with a saxophone though. I was pretty good.

I'm Charming 03-23-2006 01:51 AM

I use a combo of tab/playing by ear.

I've gotten quite good at picking great tabs. Then figure out any wrong parts by ear.

I can figure most stuff out by ear, just to lazy.

Jev 03-23-2006 01:55 AM

I struggle to ear translate on Guitar, I find it much easier to do on Piano.

Leper 03-23-2006 02:00 AM

Arrgh the funny thing about piano is that I used to take piano lessons when I was little, but I hated it so I quit. Meanwhile my mom kept telling me "you'll regret quitting when you're older..." and dammit, she was right.:upset:

Jev 03-23-2006 02:01 AM

I regret not starting an instrument until my teens. I wish I had taken Piano or guitar as a kid.

Moses 03-23-2006 02:08 AM

I'm so glad my mom is a music director and professional pianist. If it wasn't for her I'd have to rely soley on grades because I suck at everything else. Woot for 10,500 dollar scholarships!

I'm Charming 03-23-2006 03:07 AM
I regret not starting an instrument until my teens. I wish I had taken Piano or guitar as a kid.
I played Piano as a little kid. I wish I'd stuck with it.
I played Piano as a little kid. I wish I'd stuck with it.
I played a tiny bit. I tried again recently but I can't do anything. I'm in the process of re-learning, starting last week.
I can play Fur Elise and Turkish March by Mozart now.
