Shadows Within 07-20-2006 04:39 PM

Is there anyone who knows how to play Black Diamond (Stratovarious) on drums? Im tryin to make a cover and im doing all the keyboards (except the solo too beyond my abilities) but I dont know any drummers. my friend from the guitar comps gonna do the guitars and I got someone who can do bass but I don't know about a drummer.

EDIT: nm we kinda need vocals too so I can scratch that one out...I don't know anyone who can sing like Timo around here so this covers gonna be a little pointless :p.

On the subject of Stratovarius I learned Speed of Light in it's entirety this week. I should laern Black Diamond now.

Looks good. Not a fan of the one pickup though. It also needs one more string :p

IheartSP 07-20-2006 05:46 PM

My guitar only has one pickup, I kinda like the sound of a bridge pickup on leads.

..and I'm too poor to get another EMG

Looks good.

You'll have to record it for us sometime.

One question, how easy is it to hit that 24th fret high E string??

Compare it with a super-strat (Ibanez Rg etc)

I want to know whether to get a V some time in my life but if it's a bitch getting up that high, I won't.

IheartSP 07-20-2006 05:49 PM

It's hard enough getting that high on my Kelly.

Are EMGs really as good as people say? I'm thinking of getting two 7 string EMGs to swap out my Duncans in my BlackJack. Good idea?

IheartSP 07-20-2006 05:52 PM

I've never tried anything else in a guitar like mine to compare them. I can tell you that you get an extra 10-20% more gain over the stock pickups, and they sound great. I'm not sure how they are compared to other high level pickups like Duncans.

I see. How are the leads? I'm looking for something with really smooth and clear leads for solos and whatnot. Think power metal leads.

IheartSP 07-20-2006 05:57 PM

It is great for stuff like that, very smooth sounding while maintaining a nice crunch.

The 2nd solo is mine, using a Podxt and a Jackson KE-3 with an EMG 85, ignore the tone on the first solo that's my other guitarist.

My version of Eruption is on there, once again the Jackson and Podxt.

Ah right. That's a 22 fretter and looks like it has a nice cut away, the RV's don't and have 24 frets, I'd probably hate them.

Alexi looks like he has trouble hitting those high frets too, like that end bit on the solo to Bodom Beach Terror.

Yeah, both my accounts. I'm Charming and TEST

I posted some nasty flash files in community thread and now I've gotten my posting quality in order.

@ that guitar guy. Nice. I wouldn't want that guitar, but it looks very good.

Oh right, I just looked at a pic of one and thought it had 22, my bad.

JacksonRR3guy 07-20-2006 06:09 PM

It's easy to hit the high 24th. I don't know if it's the lack of a neck p'up or what, but the pinch harmonics are so much cleaner and easier to find the sweet spots. In any case if I have the need to use a bridge pickup, I'll whip out the old RR3.
