I think that you should start out by getting the 80s stuff...then move into the 90s. I think that for a new listener who hasnt expireanced much metallica should go as metallcia did form KEA to st anger. I would suggest you go in the order they were made.

This thread is so messy and unorganized i dont even know what these lists are for anymore. I would probably have to dig 10 pages back to find out for what it is.

it's when did you buy your albums, like in what order. and yea, maybe something needs to change, like what they did with the community thread |
Have any of you guys ever thought you might be fanboys? No offence to no one, I just thought of bringing that up. For the longest time, there would be threads like "Best rythm guitarist/Best soloist/Best solo/Fastest player/Coolest Song" and i would undisuptedly nominate Metallica. Then I listened to other bands. And now i simply nominate Symphony X lol but it sorta made me feel like a fanboy.

I don't think I would. Best Rhythm guitarist - James Hetfield Best Soloist - John Petrucci, Jimi Hendrix Best Solo - Fade to Black Fastest Player- John Petrucci Coolest Song - undecided Its true though, a lot of people here deny their fanboyishness |
What makes you think symphony X is better than metallica? It's all subjective really, so you can think of yourself however you want. And those best categories you named are also subjective, so one person might say good charlotte and other might say dream theater.

i don't know if i'm a fanboy. the only thing i know is that metallica is my all-time favorite band, that they are good musician but still there are many others greater than them, also my favorite album is aenima, my favorite guitarist is Hendrix, my favorite bassist is C. burton and my favorite drummer is Danny Carey. |
If you listen to metallica, play mostly metallica songsa on guitar/bass/drums/ or just have evrything related to metallica, Then you are a fanboy.
I myself am a fanboy |
i'm most a metal fanboy and an mx fanboy.

I myself am a fanboy
Not true. Fanboy has been defined many many times, and that is just very far off. |
Anyone know who the hell makes that voice in the memory remains? That narararara stuff.
/sorry about switching from fanboyism to song questions. This is the first time I heard memory remains, and it was on the radio, and I figured I totally ignored Reload. :( |

Well, don't you think you're becoming a Symphony X fanboy then? Yes there are fanboys in this thread (won't raise any names) but a lot aren't.
Fastest Player: John Petrucci
As much as I love Petrucci, and think he's a brilliant guitarist, there is a lot faster players than him. For example: Malmsteen, Micheal Angelo, Herman Li, etc. |

maybe, malmsteen is the only one of those i've heard. i don't really like any of them, but i like petrucci over those |
im a fanboy
|
I was a huge Metallica fanboy back when I was first getting into metal. I still like them, but I prefer a lot of other bands.
Currently I'm a fanboy of black metal entirely, power metal entirely, and Lykathea Aflame. But really, I'm over exadurating. I'm not as deaply obsessed as people who are actually considered fanboys are. |
How many bass players does Cliff Burton influenced?
|
How many bass players does Cliff Burton influenced?
i would guess quite alot |

Herman Li is from DragonForce, and I don't know who Angelo is but my friend never shuts up about him. |

I don't think your a fanboy. Right now, you're just digging Symphony X. Another band will come up and you'll start digging them a lot too. That happens to everyone. |
As much as I love Petrucci, and think he's a brilliant guitarist, there is a lot faster players than him. For example: Malmsteen, Micheal Angelo, Herman Li, etc.
Isn't Herman Li the guitarist from dragonforce? If so, yes, he does beat petrucci speedwise. There's a vid on their site of him doing the solo in studio for valley of the ****ed. Awesome. Also the solo in Black Fire is fast as well. :chug: |
I should also add Jason Becker, he is also fast as hell and owns arpeggios as no one else I've seen. Listen to "serrana" and see what I'm talking about.
Wait a second, isn't this a METALLICA THREAD! just a fun fact. not a real comment, anyway. mmm... let's add some metallica then... I've noticed that as Metallica got their tuning lower, and they got a lot crappier. See, they started with standard. by the black album, they had some 1/2 step down songs, and they started going downhill. reload's "fuel" is for sure 1/2 step down, and the album gets metallica worse. Then came in Garage Inc. with "whiskey in the jar" original by Thin Lizzy, and they chose a DGCFAD tuning, (1 step down) and was bad as well, and with saint anger they chose CGCFAD. If they chose 1 1/2 step down for the next album that will be just way too much of a coincidence if it turns out badly. or maybe not, and they will break their own trend. who knows, just a thought i had. |

It will be interesting to see what there album uses and more importantly how it turns out. I think there is a rumor of one this year or next. But im probably wrong. |
I think I may be the only Met-fan here that has Fade to Bluegrass. It's actually quite cool/funny. :thumb:

Garage Inc was an awesome album man. I listen to that one more than ReLoad and Load. Compare the Misfits version of Green Hell and listen to how much better the Metallica take on it sounds. :thumb: |

In fact I shouldn't have generalized. Disc 1 is amazing, the other one is...meh...not so good. the first one has really amazing covers, which I suppose are from the early days. Or is disc 2 the one with the early days covers? Whichever it was it pwns completely the other one. :thumb: |
Wow. I don't even own Garage Inc. I seriously need to buy more CDs

That depends on if your a Misfits fan. I like the Misfits version better... |
Still, I ask again, anybody want to send me Load/Reload over MSN/AIM?
