Some of this is awesome, some isn't

I've been digging the new song by Kevin Drew. I found a link to it on Pitchfork. I just figured this would sound kind of weak compared to his stuff in BSS, since he doesnt have 12 other people to bounce ideas off of, but I'm plesantly surprised.

Weird, I just checked this out. It seems decent, I'll definitely be looking into his album.

metalhead17 06-19-2007 02:33 PM

So at the library I got:

Eva Cassidy and Chuck Brown - The Other Side
King Tubby and the Aggrovators - Foundation of Dub
Billy Bragg and Wilco - Mermaid Avenue
Burning Spear - Calling Rastafari
Cafe Tacuba - Reves/Yosoy
Neko Case - Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
Sufjan Stevens - Illinoise
Guided By Voices - Mag Earwhig!
Daft Punk - Human After All
Jeff Buckley - Grace

And on tape:

Queen - Fame
Lou Reed - Legendary Hearts
Eric B. and Rakim - Don't Sweat the Technique
Living Colour - Vivid
Mortal Kombat - OST haha
The Replacements - All Shook Down

Boilermaker 06-19-2007 02:40 PM

What's up with all of these good libraries?

Some Velvet Sidewalk - Avalanche

Bukowski 06-19-2007 02:51 PM

My local library has lots of albums, and they're all bad.

Melt Banana - Teeny Shiny
Deerhoof - Friend Opportunity
The Ex - Mudbird Shivers

Bukowski 06-19-2007 03:51 PM

Public Image Ltd - Metal Box

Every time I listen to this I like it a lot more, then don't listen to it again for a while. One of those albums I can enjoy once in a while but don't have any real urge to listen to regularly. But then, I used to say all that about Daydream Nation soooooooooooo...

It's a definite grower.

Liebensaft 06-19-2007 03:56 PM

You'd dance to anything by Public Image Ltd.

MC5 - anything and everything
Wingnut Dishwasher's Union

Bukowski 06-19-2007 03:58 PM

Dead Milkmen reference ;)

Kyle 06-19-2007 04:47 PM

Menomena - Friends & Foe
Menomena - I Am The Fun Blame Monster
Tokyo Police Club - A Lesson in Crime

Can't get enough of these two bands right now.

Zmev 06-19-2007 05:21 PM

Tokyo Police Club are cool live. Nice and noisy.

Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation - Deluxe Edition

Robert Crumb 06-19-2007 05:33 PM

Ghost - Tune In, Turn On, Free Tibet
Brigitte Fontaine - Comme a la Radio

asymm 06-19-2007 05:53 PM

MoHa! - Norwegianism
Noisier and fights with bouts of further cohesion and significantly less cohesion. A bizarre record with 16 tracks and about 35 minutes. Multiple songs < 2:00. Definitely one I'll keep coming back to.

asymm 06-19-2007 06:44 PM

now
Ultralyd - Conditions for a Piece of Music
I love Rune Grammofon. This is terrific.

br3ad_man 06-19-2007 07:42 PM

Blonde Redhead - 23

Just getting around to this now. It's really nice.

"Albatross" and "Poptones" are possibly two of my favourite songs ever. The rest of the album isn't quite so good though.

Everytime I listen to Metal Box, I listen to Poptones at least 6 times on repeat. Its got to be one of my favorite songs.

Diggin Rodan-Rusty

yeah sometimes I do that with them both. It's kind of a shame, because after "Poptones" it feels like you don't really have to listen to the rest of the album, because it obviously won't be as good

Eliminator 06-20-2007 10:14 AM

It's pretty great.

Listened to some Mr. Bungle this morning. That's about it so far, today.
