Has anyone rappeled before?
Recently when I went up in the mountains a couple of weeks ago, I rappeled down a 200 ft cliff. 'Twas fun. :) |
With pride we bury our old monument, but we must go on, my friends.
Music, Ice skating, waffles, bitching about sports, it all happens here. Same rules apply of course, no spamming, just have fun. Link to the old thread GO!
Ok, I know this is a casual conversation thread. But why are Waffles and Ice Skating referenced in this first post? Sorry If I interrupt anything. |
Michael Romeo and Symphony Gaysex can fuck off.

Oh well. I like them, but I guess I'm not a huge fan either. I still would have liked to have seen them at gigantour. |
Does anybody listen to Botch or Candiria(sp)?
|
I've heard of both, but I've never heard their music. What genre's are they?
|
Couldn't really tell you. Really crazy music, some kind of metal.
|
I wanna whore my thread in other music, check it out, you might like it. :)

[20:10] May you live in Interesting Times: Just whore it in the comunity thread

Where are the mods at today? I've seen quite a few illegal threads, that aren't closed yet.
|
Ken will be on later, as will Chris. Superpeer's computer is out of commission and Bartender is still on holiday for at least another week-and-a-half. Just don't post in the illegal threads, obviously. Ken will clean everything up when he returns.
Oh well, when the mods come on I'm sure they will restore order.
Well, yeah, that's their responsibility and everything... |
Ken will be on later, as will Chris. Superpeer's computer is out of commission and Bartender is still on holiday for at least another week-and-a-half.
Bartender is still gone? But I guess that's stupid to ask because I haven't seen him around yet. Oh well, when the mods come on I'm sure they will restore order. |
So, Municipal Waste rules, yet sucks.
Awesome crossover/thrash, but then they go into weird gothenburg-like passages at times. I was listening to a song called "Thrash Of The Christ" for cryin' out loud, and they screw it up halfway through with some ghey melodic bit. MW still own hard though. |
Yay!!
After work today, me and the boyfriend went down to VW dealership to look at some Golfs/GTIs. I found a black Golf thats PERFECT except it's 4-door.. I prefer 2-door, but you know, you can't have everything. Oh man.. I'm so excited. It's $14,900 and has 26k miles on it. wewt.
So are you getting that one instead? Anyways, my friend sent me this Candiria cd, and you might describe it as a fusion of metal, jazz, hip-hop, and hardcore. It's definently very cool. |
Bah the 6800GT is too much, I have the 6600GT.
edit: to NJ
There is no such thing as too much when it comes to computers hahaha.
Michael Romeo and Symphony Gaysex can fuck off. sup dudez
eat it, woman :p |
The thing is, I just bought a whole computer, and I was already borrowing $300 from my parents to do so :-/

What're you doing with your BMW, Madey?
|
I'm learning Polonaise in A flat Major by Chopin for piano which is like as hard as say Malmsteen or Batio for guitar, but actually sounds like music.
|
So tomorrow may or may not be my last day at the restaurant. I might actually miss it.
Tomorrow evening I will be participating in a humongous game of capture-the-flag. It's going to span across an entire park. Should be an interesting experience. Oh, and by the way, I uploaded a comic for you to look at. You guys will probably think it's lame, but I haven't really chuckled at a comic in a long time. It's from Pearls Before Swine. hxxp://s63.yousendit.com/d.php?id=22BTY7BZS7S0C2GE1BUPRJBTW8 And one from The Boondocks: hxxp://s57.yousendit.com/d.php?id=2RV2VUBI7BEO8R2G1BROZG2S0 |
I hate Malmsteem with a passion.
|
Sounds nothing like it, but difficulty wise it's equivalent.
|
Dammit Moses, all I can do is tap harmonics on guitar. :emo:
|
I hate Malmsteem with a passion.
As I said in Cain's Classical Articles thread about him, I believe that art is supposed to move people, and Yngwie Malmsteen's music does not move people, which makes it totally irrelevent. I also don't like how he consistently self-aggrandizing he is--"I have been playing since the age of three", "I have locked myself up for weeks to finish my latest composition". His whole purpose for playing guitar, it seems, is to talk about how much he plays guitar. Bah. |
Cheer up, Jake. You'll be as skilled as me one day and we can become the next (insert virtuoso band here).
I didn't say Dream Theater because I would never let anyone that sounds like Labrie sing for my band. I like his voice but that would not fit with what I write. |
Heh, I don't have that much dedication, and even if I did, I'm not sure I'd want to play stuff like Dream Theater. As Ray pointed out, art is made to inspire, and those types of virtuoso metal bands/musicians don't really do that for me. Either way, I got your point. :p

 Funniest, yet most true statement I've heard all day. |
Dream Theater inspires me alot. The solo's are wanky sometimes but the songs as a whole are really musical.
This song is so hard. It's like he made it specifically hard just to make people refrain from learning it. The hand positions are so weird and there's like three measures where the smallest interval is a ninth. Also there's this one part where you have to do chromatic fourths with one hand and one chromatic line in the other hand. I'll explain it better in a minute. Ok if you have a keyboard or a piano near you and you know what notes are which this should work. Start with your left on C sharp and go up one note at a time hitting all the black and white keys till G, this is a chromatic scale. That is the left hand for this little part. Put your right hand thumb on E and your pointer finger on A and then find a fingering to do a chromatic scale from those notes up six more notes. You should be hitting one note in your left hand and two in your right hand at the same time, so yes three notes all together all doing a scale up. This is all played fast and the whole song consists of things like this but with actual musical themes. |
I actually comprehended a lot of the stuff you said, Moses. :amaze:
:theory101: |
pfft, theory show offs :(

Wanna know a band that rocks? Nevermore. I've been listening to their Enemies of Sanity album all day, and man, have they got rhythm chops. They're also probably one of the heaviest bands under the power metal tag.
EDIT: Slug, did you get your Karmapolice account merged? Your joindate is different. I was just playing some CoD multiplayer. Since it's the only FPS that I have other than MoH, I guess that's not much of a surprise, but it's still fun. |
Did you get the new album? I did a thread on it yesterday I believe.
|

I saw the thread, and no. Is it good? I love their rhythm playing. The solos are way too shreddy, melodyless, and overall wanky to like or be impressed by (they actually kind of sound funny), but their riffs are awesome. I guess that's owed to the fact that their rhythm guy used to be in Cannibal Corpse. |

It's a cheesy show, but it's sooo entertaining. |
