10. Harvest Moon
WTF I downloaded half of it and so far I love it. |
Out on the Weekend-good
Harvest-meh A Man Needs a Maid-pretty good Heart of Gold-Good Are You Ready for the Country-good Old Man-Good There's World-meh Alabama-good Needle an the Damage done-amazing Words-good I like it.
i haven't heard it in a long while, so i should prob give it another listen... i'm sure there are more good songs on it than i give him credit for. here's a band not often mentioned here: what are your thoughts on the Steve Miller Band. I really love their kinda laid back funky feel. My favorite track would have to be joker, though close runner ups include jungle love, jet airliner, fly like an eagle, keep on a rockin' me, take the money and run, and space cowboy (yea i know those are basically all his greatest hits, but i think those are also his best songs) |
Bonzo's here again? and I keep thinking he's me because of the avatar!
|
I love Steve Miller Band. They were the first classic rock band I ever liked, and my favorite song is Shubada Du Ma Ma because of that awesome bass line.

yea man i can't stay away. lol yea my father of time avatar apparently broke, gotta get a new one. good to see some of the originals still survive... |
I love the Steve Miller band. They have the only Greatest Hits album (74-78) that I listen to regularly. They wrote some great songs. They weren't as experimental or virtuositic as other bands of their time....but I still think they were one of the best bands of the seventies.

that's a good one. i like the blue grassy feel of dance dance dance. cry cry cry is cool too, and so is my dark hour. but i'm especially partial to serenade... Edit: I also like the stake, swingtown, and livin in the usa |

mine did too. I think we were the only ones with it still. Come to think of it we've been in this thread for a loooooong time. Anyways steve miller band is cool, I was surprised when I found out fly like an eagle was by them though. |
I've also been reminded how awesome steppenwolf is lately.
|
I've also been reminded how awesome steppenwolf is lately.
yea i don't know much of them other than their big hits (born to be wild, magic carpet ride, rock me) but from those they have def earned their place in classic rock |

Most people don't know much if any of their other stuff. I like their sound though, I really like the guitar sound in particular. |

speaking of 3 hit wonders, what do u think of bachman turner overdrive? |
I've also been reminded how awesome steppenwolf is lately.
I saw them live on a public broadcasting show yesterday. They also had footage of The Doors and Hendrix playing. The Hendrix one was cool cause it was really early. |

yea i saw that. i was ticked that the doors footage they played was the light my fire they did on the ed sullivan show, mostly cuz that was soooo short. |

Yea, we saw that before in history. That was the show where Jim said "higher" even though he wasn't supposed to and then they got kicked out of their next few shows. OOPS! But yea it was really short. :upset: |

I like their stuff but I never really consider them their own band. I consider them and the guess who essentially the same band. I've seen Randy Bachman live twice and he put on great shows. (doing both BTO and The Guess Who). |
Would you guys consider Dire Straits classic rock? I love Mark Knopfler in Romeo and Juliet and Sultans of Swing. He's so frucking smooth
|

yes they are. and they are quite good too. i'm a big fan of sultans of swing |

Remember when we saw them live? Yeah Schyma, that list is pretty temporary. Harvest Moon does deserve better. |

sadly i don't know much of his stuff again except the big ones (ie american woman, taking care of business and you ain't seen nothing yet) |
In some cases with songs, the solos are the only thing that require alot of skill and fluency to play...Sultans of Swing is definitely not the case. I just bought Making Moives th other day, I reccomend it to all classic rock fans.

I've never seen any good bands live.
Steve Miller Band is great. |
I've never seen any good bands live.
Steve Miller Band is great.
Well, who would you consider a good band? |
I've never seen any good bands live.
Steve Miller Band is great.
Then what bad bands have you seen? |
I should've rephrased that, I've barely seen anyone live. The best I have seen live were The Beatles impersonaters. Pretty pathetic.
|
The Fab Four? They're a decent band. Where do you live?
|
Toledo, most of the good stuff is in Detroit.

Umphrey's McGee is big in the Midwest, you should go check them out the next time they're in town. |
i need help. i can see either steve vai in concert or steve gadd do a drum clinic (drummed for steely dan, james taylor, paul simon, and eric clapton). they are on the same day so i have to pick one. but which?

You play drums? If so it would make more sense to go to the clinic. |
Drummer = drummer clinic
guitarist = vai show EDIT: I watched Almost Famous again and I picked up a few new things. "Mick Jagger's not gonna try to be a rock star when he's 50" I thought that was funny. "You guys go on without me, I'll deadhead back" My first thought after that was, "Can Badmoon drive?" |

Over the pages it seems there was a lot of new regulars posting, which is good. Tommy>Quadrophenia. |
yea i'm leaning towards the clinic. only problem with that is that it's difficult for me to get there. i don't have a car here and the university shuttles go to vai's venue. but i really wish i could do both...
Tommy>Quadrophenia.
Uno, Dos, Tres. I got extra credit in Web Page Design for quoting Tommy. I was making fun of Michael Jackson and I made a website with him saying "I'm your wicked uncle Michael and I'm glad you won't see or hear me as I FIDDLE AAABOUT" And I also made Michael say "I'm sorry, I was spending "time" with my friend Tommy, who's deaf, dumb, and blind. |
I almost had a chance to see the Allman Brothers tonight in NYC, but I'm going tomorrow so I couldn't.
Malcom: That's cruddy/hilarious  |
To see the Allmans? NICE.
Edit: Hey, I bashed Michael Jackson, and got extra credit. My Web Page Design teacher's a classic rock junkie too. |
To see the Allmans? NICE.
I can't, I could have gotten tickets but I'm not going to New York until tomorrow, so then I didn't. I was annoyed that I couldn't go earlier in order to see them. |
Oh...you got me all worked up.
Yeah, I know how you feel, we missed Van Halen in Las Vegas two months ago. By a day :( |
Oh...you got me all worked up.
Yeah, I know how you feel, we missed Van Halen in Las Vegas two months ago. By a day :(
Same thing here, but Allmans>>Van Halen. Turns out my English teacher saw the Allmans in 1973 or so and she was 3rd row. |
Yea, Allmans > Van Halen.
Actually, thinking about it, we missed it by like 2 hours. We got into Las Vegas around 9 or 10 the concert started at 8 |
