The fact that it sounds like nintendo + black metal is really gay.
Frank Zappa- You Can't do that on Stage Anymore Vol.2
Disc 1 has the best consecutive line up of songs ever: Inca Roads, RDNZL, Enchinda's Arf, Village of the Sun, Don't You Ever Wash That Thing, and Pgymy Twylyte.
That album totally rules. I forgot there was a version of redunzl on there. That's one of my favorite songs of his. |
Smegma - 33 1/3
This is really, really good. Is anyone familiar with their exhaustive back-catalog? |

Old man river- Good morning Pain- Psalms of extinction |
Just got hold of the Red Paintings, am looking forward to having a listen.
|
I might go see them next weekend, mainly because The Paper and the Plane are opening. I'm not big on TRP, but they're always good to watch live.

RDNZL is one of my faves also. I don't really like the weird mix on Lather though. |
Yeah, the lead singer is a bit of a wanker when I saw them. I would see them but I'll be in Melbourne. They have a new EP and DVD out, at least its coming out soon.
|
Wow, TRP are excellent, Walls is a badass EP.
I have heard hardly anything about them, very surprising. |

Is it different from the Studio Tan release? I can't be bothered to do a comparison. |

I think it is different. Everything on Lather had a weird mix done to it and it sounds tinny. The versions of RDNZL I have in my mind are the live ones form Roxy and Elsewhere and YCDTOSA though. |
Well, at least we can all agree that the Lather version sounds better than the one on Piquantique, despite a valiant electric violin solo. :p
(By the way, the song's not on Roxy) |
Oh god. I have 6 recordings of the song on my computer, and now I'm going through and listening to them all.

The winner for worst version: the one on You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Volume Five. Still, this is such a good song the early 80s band can't really kill it. I was really surprised by the Lost Episodes recording. It's the 1973 band playing, like on Piquantique, but it's a studio recording. There seems to be two different versions of the song: one that you know from Lather, an 8 minute track with several changing parts, and a shorter one around 4 minutes that is more like a jazz tune, with an opening statement of melody, and several solos. Ponty takes another good one on the Lost Episodes track.
I'M TALKING DIRECTLY TO ONE GUY AND HE PROBABLY DOESN'T EVEN CARE. Edit: even more on the topic, with a crazy diagram of the varying structures from recording to recording http://globalia.net/donlope/fz/songs/RDNZL.html |
God, The Red Paintings are so lame.
Gin Blossoms - New Miserable Experience |
Ok I listened to Dead Flag Blues and hated it.
I'll never like GYBE |
Sigur Rós - Ágætis Byrjun

Stars- Set Yourself on Fire

(By the way, the song's not on Roxy)
Ah, I get that You Do That on Stage.. mixed up with Roxy because they share a lot of the same songs. A lot of the Beat the Boots are horrible. That chart is pretty neat. |
