Serj doesn't have a good tone
You really think so? I absolutely love his tone I'll vote Jeff Buckley over anyone though. He's without a doubt the best singer I've ever heard, no contest (even his screams are heavenly) |
In the poll for best vocalist will lyrics be a factor, or is it just singing ability?
|
IMO, Serj has a terrible voice. He can sure hit a lot of low and high notes, but it never sounds good to me. His tone is all wrong. He just sounds really goofy to me and it's really hard for me to take him seriously. Or maybe it's just because SOAD's lyrics aren't very good at all.
|
I might vote for Thom Yorke, but I'm not sure yet :/
Garm all the way for me.
/cues Bobo ARCTURUS 4 LYFE!
Speaking of that, do you know if the new album is officially out yet? I heard a few tracks from it and they were amazing! They really did it for me, and actually inspired me to do some writing I've been needing to do for a long time. |
Jake.. that sucks man...
As soon as theres another demand for the OK show, it will be uploaded again, but try to talk some sense into your dad. And as far as Serj being better then the 'nard... wtf? Serj is a terrible singer. Hes good for system, but as far as being a singer, he sounds brutal... Mikeal >>>>> Maynard though. |

Yeah, it came out about a month ago. I think September 21st was the actual day, or the Tuesday closest to it. It's amazing. |
Argh, now I've got to buy it. It sounds fucking great from what I've heard. I love the atmosphere of it, and the songs are just better than ever. As much as I love La Masquerade Infernale, this could top it.
|
Top 4 for me would be MJK, Matt Bellamy, Gavin Hayes and Mike Patton.
For nonbelivers MJK is a great vocalist. Proof: Listen to The Grudge, Thicks And Leeches and Reflection and tell me he is average and I'll rip your balls out. |
I still am favoring The Sham Mirrors, but Sideshow Symphonies is still great. They're just way different, too, so it's hard to compare both albums. The atmosphere that goes along with listening to SSS is just so unique; Sved's keyboaring techniques have really developed on this album, into something more based around creating an ambient soundscape, rather than carrying the melody, like he did more often on TSM.
Either way, if you've not heard Arcturus, you'd better pick up both albums. /// This morning, I downloaded a .RAR file of Raggae-style samples for Fruity Loops. I'm having great fun making a song out of the new samples. I can really see this song going somewhere. :wewt: |
I have la masquerade... I've listened to it once, I liked it, but it didn't catch my interest enough to listen to it twice.. .. .I really should listen to it again

This is one reason why I wouldn't want to have lightning fast internet- You'd be able to download a virtually unlimited number of albums, and therefore, you may overlook something good. I, being the stone-age bastard that I am, and will be for a while, listen to albums at least 5 or so times before either loving the album, or just putting it on my cd rack. |
Hehe, it's sort of a luxary problem
|
Yeah, I'd rather have excess albums I've not listened to, than not enough, though, so you win.
With my current budget, I'm definitely leaning toward the "not enough" spectrum. At least I have school and Fruity Loops to keep me busy. |

Or the fact that you keep downloading and downloading until you completely run out of disc space. I'm almost out on both of my hard drives. It's so easy to download so much, and I can't stop myself. Plus, I'm on a fairly old computer, and there's no hookup for an external hard drive, which I was about to buy. I think I'll check at Best Buy to get Sideshow Symphonies, if it's not there, I'll just order it. |

I hate lyrics. If it was up to me, nobody would be allowed to write lyrics except Paul Westerberg of The Replacements. So no, they don't matter. Otherwise it would be pointless to have Cedric of At the Drive-In/The Mars Volta in the contest. |

I don't really listen to lyrics all that much, unless I get really into the band, like Tool. I liked the music, then when I started learning about all of these unique concepts incorporated with the lyrics and the music, it made me appreciate them all the more. |
I want to start a lyricless band, that still has vocals..

Its just like the song is made infinatly better by the amazing guitar or drums or bass. please respond coz you've grabbed my attention now!! PS are you implying that cedric writes amazing lyrics or crap lyrics? i personally love his lyrics, theyre insane!! :thumb: |

Sup Fantomas? |
Or in some cases Sigur Ros.
|
'You sigh alot, on the fire'
Lyricless :p? |
I remember reading that ( ) has no lyrics, only made-up syllables.

Actually I was talking about Sigur Ros' album, ( ).
|
oh right, pardon my ignorance!!
|
ugh, tool would be really boring with out lyrics. well maynard could kinda moan or something...probably still sound good.
|
If Tool didn't have lyrics, I bet that 800 of these pages wouldn't be here.
|
 I've heard one song from (), and here I thought he was just speaking Icelandic.
|
I think I missed something, what started the vocalist discussion? Have the polls started?
